    I got beeped recently because I wouldn’t pull blindly out into traffic; a larger car was blocking my view. I’ve watched enough of these videos to know not to pull out into traffic if I can’t see the road.

      People can just get so impatient anyway. Drive safely, not quickly. There's an intersection near my place where only the car in front can see oncoming traffic until it's basically in the intersection, and I've been beeped a couple of times waiting for a car that lined up right in front of me just a couple of seconds later, which I definitely would have hit if I'd gone when the people behind me demanded I do.

      The worst us when someone like waves you on. It’s like I’m sure they’re being nice and I’m sure they’re right and it’s free, but ultimately it’s on me, and if I can’t see and the traffic is fast enough, it’s a big risk to take another drivers word, because ultimately you’re the one responsible if there’s a crash

    I’m starting to teach my little sister how to drive. She’s 15 and the first thing I told her is on her first drive is “forget your mirrors, forget everything. When you start to learn to drive the first rule in our family is if you see a Toyota Camry, or a Toyota Corolla…hover the brakes”. It’s a common denominator. 4 clips IN A ROW in this video is a Camry or Corolla. It can’t be a coincidence.

    • @RennieAsh

      I hope you have better luck teaching your sister than I did.She'd end up screeching at me like a boiling tea kettle & calling me a c.u.n.t multiple times each lesson.
      I didn't need that aggravation after a few drives, so she got lessons off a professional instructor & she kept saying that he was a shit teacher & that the lessons were a waste of money.
      I tried to assure her that he wasn't a shit teacher, the problem was that she was too arrogant.She didn't even get out of the car park when she tried for her license the first time before the assessor told her, "Nope, you didn't leave enough room before pulling out of the car park.You've failed"

    • @LucaJC
      @LucaJC 2 года назад +4

      @@RennieAsh that’s true, I’ve never had a Kia driver or Hyundai driver incident but it’s very common in Northern Melbourne Suburbs where I’ve always got issues with Camry drivers. My mothers Macan got hit and ran by a Camry. My car got road raged by an Uber driver in a Camry. A Camry overtook me and cut me off on double white lines going 100 in a school zone. A Camry blocked a whole lane of traffic to make an illegal U turn. It’s just extremely common from my own personal experience. May be different to your experiences :)

      Maybe that's normal where you live, but we have weapon laws.
      Plus that's not going to end in your favour. Someone peppersprayed her boyfriend and me and a nurse? She ended up discovering that our instructions were to neutralise the armed threat. If I can't see if the threat is neutralised, that means the pain continues until I can feel that it's neutralised.
      Same happens if I see an offensive weapon being used and I can't conclusively tell it's proportional self-defense. Weapons wielder gets dealt with decisively first, then we'll sort out what's going on.
      By carrying an offensive weapon you accept the consequences to yourself, including being hurt, injured, seriously injured and possibly even get killed.
      There's a whole world of difference with a bit of paint on a car so they look ridiculous and have to respray, or assaulting a person with a weapon.

    One thing I've really noticed in recent years is how many drivers are clueless about merging from the left on overtaking lanes. The moment they see the merge sign (or first arrow pointing right ) they switch to the right-hand lane and don't even bother indicating.
    I guess they don't want to wear out their indicators, or their eyes, or the very few brain cells they have.

      @@johnt.848 There's a couple of false assumptions there. I'm several generations removed from being an immigrant, not everyone who comments on something they see as wrong with Australia is wanting to make it into another country. Second, not every discussion on issues is negative, which is what I was trying to say in my answer. I love Australia, I think it is a great place to live. I also think people are becoming less patient and less generous with each other, for a multitude of reasons. But to say that's okay, we should all become intolerant of each other as long as we say Australia is great isn't going to resolve anything, and if that is an issue and not merely my opinion, then it goes without being addressed and becomes worse. We, particularly in Victoria, are internationally notorious for our lack of patience and selfish attitudes on the road. There is nothing wrong with talking about it, and perhaps we bring it to the forefront of the national zeitgeist and we start to change it. Exactly what happened with seatbelts, too, by the way.
