  • Tadeusz Faliszewski (aka Jan Pobóg) & Orkiestra - 1,2,3,4 Fokstrot (Tychowski-Krystjan) Melodja-Electro 1934 (Polish)
NOTE: It’s one of the more unusual Polish popsongs from the interwar period, for is all devoted to a current political event. The lyrics entirely celebrate the end of Prohibition in USA dating 5th Dec 1933. The recording released in July 1934 is still more less up to date relevant to the case. That unusual interest of the Polish hit market in American domestic affairs can be understood by the fact that the song was composed by Hawaiian guitar virtuoso and composer Wiktor Tychowski. In the last years before the outbreak of World War II, he was employed as a musician on Polish transatlantic ships. For professional reasons, he must have had a lot to do with the social consumption of alcohol, and the end of Prohibition must have been greeted with relief aboard the Polish-American passenger fleet. The photo show consists of Polish pre-war alcohol advertisements.

Super bubbly and catchy tune and exuberant singing by Faliszewski. Fine graphics with the "alcohol" theme.

Thank you so much for sharing this very foxtrot that is quite unusual indeed in Polish popular repertoire! This peppy, sparkling tune was absolutely delightful and I also enjoyed the great vintage advertisements :-)

The only regret that the record is in less than perfect condition. It seems to have often been played by Poles rejoicing with Americans over the end of Prohibition!
