As someone who was worked as a support technician for multiple web hosting companies in the past I can say that the sony support story from the beginning of the show is actually a very often occurance. Most companies employ strict procedures and are very careful about them as social engineering is very often, particularly during chat contact as that takes out most of the personal interaction while still making it fairly easy to make the support person slip and give out some personal information about the victim. The company I work at now always tries to be better than that, but unfortunately we do still have to make sure that the customer information stays confidential and nothing gets leaked out to scammers. What I am trying to say is please do understand that this isn't done to simply annoy people and when you can't comply with procedures that are predefined a more personal contact like a call that goes through a secure line (most support numbers are secure) is much better to solve your issues than a chat that most companies use 3rd party services for and can't guarantee data safety on.
RIP TB ... you are still missed by us all ... we really could have used your insights over this whole stupid pandemic thing -- on this plus side you are in a much better place now and didnt have to live through the 'Age of Karens' and other stupid people and the imminent downfall of Blizzard -- so theres that at least
Lol'ing at Blizzard shutting down Nostalrius because of Vanilla WoW (and claiming the code no longer exists) **FLASH FORWARD to 2018** and they released WoW Classic long after shutting down the 'free' servers because they are greedy asshats (oh and remember when they siad the code no longer existed and it would be impossible to recreate?? conveniently they just happened to 'find' a version of 1.0 Pre-Alpha in a random folder that Morheim had saved on his personal pc ... and now in 2021 Blizzard is dying because of inter-office BS and bad press
