This song posted on RUclips was sped up from the original ever so slightly. That's how many countless times I have listened to the song since the album came out.
First met Billy when SP were recording 'Siamese Dream' in Georgia. We fronted for them on 4.9.94 in Florida. I mentioned that I liked the reverse imaging guitar. He programmed the sound into my Alesis Quadraverb GT. It's been on there ever since, unchanged, and used in some of my recordings.
Click on channel. Posting the oldest first. Some of our stuff has been xd by RUclips because of legal issues with a former recording company ( I.R.S. Records and EMI - more info. on Wikipedia), however this shall soon be resolved due to twenty-year expiration. Note that The Smashing Pumpkins were not the established name they are today, even when we opened for them in Tallahassee '94. The big thrill was meeting Butch Vig, who had recently produced Nirvana's 'Nevermind'.
the reverse delay guitar part is a preset on the eventide h3000 harmonizers.. be interested to hear of the quadraverb patch though, just got one again, been a long time. fun unit..
I named my first car Starla. She was a beautiful blue 1980 Berlinetta Camaro that my brother Johnny pieced together for me. I used to crank this song while I tore ass down the parkway. When I listen to this now, I can still smell the antifreeze of that old soldier barreling on and feel the warm wind in my hair. Oh what I would give to go back to the 90's. Starla dear, please take me home 💙
@@starlamalloy1474 that's so sweet! And I will! I have met several Starlas in the past few years! It's a beautiful name, obviously ❤️ 🎇 Happy New year!
@beau Of course Siamese Dream is legendary - one of the best albums of all time. But are you forgetting about the even better Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness???
The story behind this song is cool. According to Billy, the London record label wanted two more tracks to go with I am one. Billy told them he didn't have anymore, but they insisted or would refuse to release the single. Apparently, they only had bits of music for Starla and no lyrics, so they stayed up for 24 hours straight to get this written, recorded, and sent out. There's a youtube of him telling the story right before playing it with Jeff and Mike, and whichever bass player they had at the time. Cool version too.
At 5:10 when that guitar kicks in for a mlnute is the best part of this song. Anyway, thanks for uploading it. I wanted to hear it again. I used to have this tape. My player ate it and shat it out though a week after I bought it . Those were the days.
I agree. I get bored with the formula of every other group after a certain time and move on. The Pumpkins have always changed with the times and moved forward in a way that I've liked and understood.
one of the greats! even today...the sound is great and the feeling is ...my english vocabulary is too short for those feelings. fucking great, ok? I just love this song!!!!
really starla? i find this enchanting. with some of the best guitar i've ever heard. if ur named after this... and ppl around the world love it. Dunno 'bout u but i'd be proud
Pisces Iscariot is kinda like AICs Jar of Flies...just a gem on an release...so cool how bands can create such amazing music on B sides or EPs...the unfiltered/pure sound only a B side or EP can create...can't really describe how this album affected me growing up
I'm in here Please, take me home Starla, dear I'm all alone When you can't decide what's on your mind It's clear I'm hear Starla, dear To disappear takes all my time Starla, dear You're on my mind Soon, soon I'll be leaving Soon, soon I'll be leaving I hear all you're saying I hear all you're failing I'm in here Please, take me home Starla, dear I'm all alone When you can't decide what's on your mind It's clear I'm here Starla, dear Serve yourself No one else can do for you like you No one else fails like me In my eyes, I burn alive Fly like a bird No more words, just you and I, high in the sky
Unless you intend on simply making a hell of a racket, using effects pedals and distortion with guitars is not easy. I would think you'd need to balance the effects with a clear sense of what you want them to do. So the delicate sounds coaxed from a guitar at the beginning of this song are all the more wondrous for being very carefully chosen; and the psychedelic freakout at the end is masterful too, because it isn't just modulations of white noise (although that can be pretty cool to listen to too). It has direction. It builds and morphs exactly the way it is supposed to. Which is testament to Billy Corgan's genius, and his feel for what works and what doesn't....
when Blur recorded Modern Life is Rubbish in 1992 their label Food threatened to sue them unless they put singles on the album, they went back to the studio for one day and wrote the two shitty singles Chemical World and Sunday Sunday. It's exactly the same scenario.
their B sides better than most bands A material
Their B-Sides are better than their own A-Sides.
hehe ;)
***** same goes for Blur and Mozza and The Cure to a certain extent, it's like they hide the gems for the real fans.
+Jocko Jonson Same with STP
I really admire the guitar work most of all a band as a unit incredible set up i preffer the earlier works
Yup here's another Starla :) I love my name!
Starla Dejong cool name
Starla Dejong your name is my favorite song of all time by any band

The first half sounds somewhat normal but then the second half feels practically warp speed.
i knew instanlty something was off lol

LUCKY YOU! TO HAVE BEEN A PART OF ONE OF THE GREATEST BANDS AND ERAS OF ALT-ROCK MUSIC; WHAT WAS YOUR MUSIC LIKE?

We can compile a list of these settings. Do you own a vintage 1990's Alesis Quadraverb GT?

Probably one of the best pumpkins songs. From a band that probably wrote one of the best albums in Siamese Dream
@beau Of course Siamese Dream is legendary - one of the best albums of all time. But are you forgetting about the even better Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness???
4:56 when you're not enough of a rock star to afford proper recording environment, but it somehow makes everything cooler.
They just kept that siren in for fun .
This was all I played for weeks at every possible moment when I first heard it.
Mad shoegazing
I love this song. It takes me places that I love to go to.
First time listening to this...HOLY FUCK! o.O
Yup. Welcome to the Starla headspace!
Probably my favorite song . It proves music can be simple and beautiful at the same time .

Phenomenal!! Over and over and over. It takes me back sets me straight makes me smile, even happy NO MATTER WHAT. I thank you. ....JUST FUCKING AWESOME
I love all of the Smashing Pumpkins songs. I can't say that for any other band.
I agree. I get bored with the formula of every other group after a certain time and move on. The Pumpkins have always changed with the times and moved forward in a way that I've liked and understood.
Q som, demais msm!! Smashing 4 ever!! Sem duvida a melhor banda d sempre!! Enormes!!

I'm quite good playing Air Guitar to this. The best kind of workout.
No more words just you and I, high, in the sky...*rawk*
It's baddest
If you weren’t in an altered state when you started listening to this, you will feel like it by the end.
It's badass
one of the greats! even today...the sound is great and the feeling is ...my english vocabulary is too short for those feelings. fucking great, ok? I just love this song!!!!

To me, that's the best Smashing Pumpkins song alongside The Aeroplane Flies High (Turns Left, Looks Right).
I'm in here
Please, take me home
Starla, dear
I'm all alone
When you can't decide what's on your mind
It's clear I'm hear
Starla, dear
To disappear takes all my time
Starla, dear
You're on my mind
Soon, soon I'll be leaving
Soon, soon I'll be leaving
I hear all you're saying
I hear all you're failing
I'm in here
Please, take me home
Starla, dear
I'm all alone
When you can't decide what's on your mind
It's clear I'm here
Starla, dear
Serve yourself
No one else can do for you like you
No one else fails like me
In my eyes, I burn alive
Fly like a bird
No more words, just you and I, high in the sky
Solo extraordinário, música magnífica !!
what is it with Morrissey, Blur, the Cure and this lot? some of their best songs are obscure b-sides
Tell me about it. How 'Set The Ray To Jerry' never got on an album I'll never understand.
"Untitled" is also brilliant. Their last recording before the 2000 break-up. Goosebumps every time I hear it.
add Mansun & Radiohead too
Song was supposed to be 11:01
es unos de mis temas favoritos!!!
Thanks joe !!!!!
I Love Cookies!
Melon cookies and the infinite sadness
nice
MASSIVE LIKE
Thank you!
If you weren’t high when you started listening to this, you will feel like it afterwards.
YEAHHHHHH!!!!! it´s clear...I´M HERE!!!!!!!!!
This solo!
that's my name. hello all.

guitar solo
at 5:00 ish is the reason i got into psytrance. so much shred
Temazo amigoo
To disappear takes so much time.
You f...kin right Sara!!!
Was the speed of this increased slightly?
yep
Yes but barely. It is slightly faster

i thought the speed was increased also! seems slower on the album; I knew it!
EPIC
Starla
when a band's B-side tracks are better than other artists entire catalogs.
My name is varla and I guess this song is the closest I’ll get to my name.
Starla is my name :D
Same 😄😄
Awesome x3 Nice To Meet You Starla XD
+Starla Lee STARLAS EVERYWHERE! My name is starla too! HHAA cx
x3 WE MUST TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!

“You Know else who sang this song about Starla?
My Mom!”
Thank you, My Bloody Valentine!
hello
Starla Inisis 👌
i think the only reason he decided not to put this on the album was because he decided he wasn't going to kill himself
STARRRLLLAAAAAA!!!!!!!
Great song... It was meant foir a Darla... not Starla!

I almost broke my stereo.
this is very slightly faster than the version i have ... weird! Is that to avoid copyright nonsense?
what's that guitar effect called at the very beginning?
Reverse delay 100% wet
holy fuck!!!!
Debería de estar en un disco, no debería de ser lado b.
Quit whining and change it if you "don't like it now!"
boards of canada meets jimi hendrix
how the fuck is this a b side and songs like zero and love are a sides
The music industry my friend. They don't want 10 minute meaningful song
when Blur recorded Modern Life is Rubbish in 1992 their label Food threatened to sue them unless they put singles on the album, they went back to the studio for one day and wrote the two shitty singles Chemical World and Sunday Sunday. It's exactly the same scenario.
yad00di Zero is Smashing Pumpkins' anthem, though.
quite fast
This version doesn't sound right. It's too fast.
it's weird my girlfriends name is starla
Who else heard this song in bad words
violin stick to guitar....saw them perform this in Vancouver many years ago
Too fast and the vocal effects suck. I'll take the original version instead.
My mom named me after this song..and this is the worst song i have ever heard i hate my name now.
lol
you probably should have hated it even before learning about this song because it's a stripper name.
best song ever. your mom loves you.
booo go learn a thing or two about music and if not go back to your shit booooo
Fortunately, your mom didn't choose the Siamese Dream 11th track title...
