hi at 10:50 in the video, if you are an FII and are putting 10 billion dollars in the debt and equity market, wont you have to 'sell' your dollars and 'buy' rupees (that you can buy the public debt with or buy equity stock with....). Not clear why you say an FII will have to 'buy' dollars from the bank.
am i wrong in assuming the following flow of events:
1. the FII comes to india and sells his dollars to buy rupees. he enters NDF contract with the bank at 1$=Rs.65 (assumption)
2. he puts his money in the debt and equity markets
3. after one year he wants to take his money back so he goes to the bank and converts his rupees into dollars at the same rate he entered into the NDF at (1$=Rs.65) plus the profit or loss at the new rate (whatever the currency has moved to)

Viraj Circar or is the FII buying dollars/selling rupees because he is converting the debts and equities he ALREADY holds in the indian markets in rupees to dollars and is THEREFORE 'buying' dollars. The FII is on his way out of the market. am i right?
Viraj Circar FII's on their way out will sell rupees & buy dollars and on their way in they will sell dollars and buy rupees. You are correct in your understanding.
