If you're looking for Tourist Thailand, then Hua Hin is one of the best places to visit in my honest opinion. For me, married to a Thai & more used to going places with the Thai family, not for me, far too many expats & tourists.
Agreed, you can take a bus from Bangkok (eastern terminal is best way i think). It takes about 3 hours or less. You can also take a train but it takes over 4 hours with lots of stops along the way. Of course there's always a taxi as well.

Is the ferry from Hua Hin to Pattaya still running.. there used to be a direct ferry service before covid but not sure if it still runs.
COVID killed that ferry ride over...but it's worth the trip from Pattaya for sure. Stop over in BKK or Amphawa for a night and hop over the next day.

Thankfully hua hin is pretty much disliked by the pattaya wild crowds and is family friendly. I love it as well.
It's such a change of pace and there are a lot of chill things to do nearby. The food is unmatched as well.
Hua Hin is Overtated !
