I own an electro 5, if you can find the right tube preamp and run the nord into it then to your powered monitors you might come close to the Hammond/Leslie tone. The problem is finding the right tube preamp.
I have a Leslie 770 (with a little tube preamp) and a Preamp 2. It doesn't matter whether I connect my Hammond TX-500, my Yamaha EX5, Nord Wave 2 or my Nord C1: Suddenly every great sounding keyboard sounds ten times massive and sweet at the same time. The Leslie is the trick. Nice Video! Greetings from Germany🇩🇪🤝
I completely agree. I've had Hammonds & keyboard emulators and 122 Leslie for years. For a fair comparison, need to run the instruments through the same speaker system.
Of course the Hammond is a classic sound, but can you get it if you run the Nord through the Leslie how close to a Hammond sound can you get and I always wanted to hear those two side-by-side I just now want to hear the north through the Leslie
In my opinion, an authentic Hammond B3 sound can be achieved with a synthesizer provided that the synthesizer gives the musician unlimited, Hammond, like control over the sound. Additionally, to achieve an authentic B3 sound the synthesizer signal must be run through a Leslie. The Leslie is half of a B3. It breathe life into the sound, and gives depth and power. You don’t just hear a Hammond you feel it. Trying to re-create the Hammond sound without a Leslie. It’s like trying to run a race on one leg.
I agree that Hammond sound is more closely immolated, but no one, saving IK Multimedia IMO, has matched the shape of the sine waves in a Hammond. They are usually too sharp or round in clones. Hammond hit a sweet spot. But, again, it's less noticeable with a Leslie or a great sim. Again, IK multimedia is the only authentic clone that compels me to forgo ever having to mic any of my 8 Leslies or 14 Hammonds.

Leslie is definitely the magic behind the Hammond tone! Though a PR-40 is pretty amazing!
Awesome video, That Nord was sounding pretty sweet and your playing is impressive. Now I need to go practice. Thank you!
Nice sounds Sir!
Hey there, great video! Why don’t you run the Nord via the Lesley - I think the big difference here is the speaker setup…

I heard there is no horn/rotor balance on the stage 4 ?

I’m curious with this organ setup, how do you go about accessing the drawbars and other settings?
Prefer the Hammond. Way too much overdrive on the Nord. Just my opinion of course! 16:46
true, too much overdrive
Why does he have so much overdrive on the Nord? You can easily roll that back or turn it off.
Very nice! Is that the 73 key with waterfall? Did you try the weighted 88?
Hammond hands down. Whenever you need a organ Hammond is the only way. Roland has a nice organ too.
Agreed!
Both keyboards sound really great.
The Nord is somewhat overdriven.
Great video, thank you!
How much the price Nord Stage 4?
6.1k after taxes in the USA
There are three models; the Stage 4 Compact 73-key in this video is $4,899.00 plus tax.
@@masonjahncke7844 Wow... What a price
@@steveccase Wow...
@@MrAndyRachmat I actually bought it and I still like having a heart attack every time I look at my bank account dip
The Northstage is still a copy of the real Hammond organ, (the real one)
Hammond and leslie kills the nord
Old and new… totally hybrid! ❤😂 nice!
