Cockapoo here with 7 months of no lead walking training before we adopted her... Long, and a LOT of work has gone in. Frustration, tears and a lot of treaters!! A great trainer and STAS has really transformed our training. Much more fun and engaging!
Hey there! We love working with a whole range of different dogs in different stages of their training. For example, here's a video of super Tiger Mango. A Jumper-Upper with all the bouncing beans she can muster. Here's a fun video of Lauren teaching Mango to cool her jets to keep 4 paws on the floor in under 5 minutes. Watch it here: ruclips.net/video/72ffClOduJ8/видео.html
I recently adopted an 8 to 9 month old Sight Hound/Pit Mix, that "Wants" everything Outside, I believe its prey reactive. And I must keep her separated from a cat in the house. When outside its nearly Impossible to not have an extreme grip on lead at all times. As she fixates on anything that moves.... Leaves, BIRDS ESPECIALLY which are everywhere, you name it, she wants it. I've tried distracting her, just so she will potty, and sometimes I can break her concentration for SECOND OR SO, but not always. I had to change from a martingale collar which I was given at her adoption and was better than a regular collar, to a harness, as she pulls so hard she throws up, and I fear she will hurt her throat. It is a rare time that we go out without an out burst of baying and lunging, and pulling. I have not tried food type treats yet, but don't think there's a treat that will measure up to a Bird.
Hi I'm a raw feeder and you just wash your hands really well after each training session. And yes it can be gross but I have no regrets, never had a happier dog :D
We feed raw, too. Our dogs' raw food is used for passive calming activities (stuffed Toppls, Kongs, Lickimats, etc). For games like these, we use healthy treats, small pieces of cooked meat, dehydrated meat/organ meat and even premium kibble.
I raw feed as well and struggle with what to feed. I cooked chicken but she has no interest in that at all. I have been using JR pate but the fat level is too high for her and has caused a flare up of pancreatitis. I am now using a squeezy feeder with some low fat meat I. It. Without treats she is not that interested in me, a stroke or party is not for her.
My dog Ruby Border Collie / Australian Kelpie is a rescue dog with not much history to go, out on walks she will not accept treats, no interaction with me. At home i get the usual things sit, stay, watch me, come. She will not play with a toy, nearest to play is her chewing on balls, rope toy, soft toys that have stuffing inside she will rip the toy open and rip the stuffing out. ( obviously I no longer leave her unsupervised with these toys.) HELP HELP HELP !!!!! Please.
Up the treat value when out on a walk. I use hot dogs and it's the only thing that gets my dog to interact with me when out and about. If the highest value food still doesn't work take a step back. Play just inside the door with the leash on, then just inside with the door open, then just outside the front door, then take a couple steps, etc. Work up to her paying attention to you but make it easier if you need to.
My dog does not want any food when out I’ve tried ham, cheese and chicken but nothing works
How do you use food when you feed raw?

Our puppy is not on dry food yet. It is prepared raw diet (Natural Instinct)... Do we just get our hands dirty or is there another approach?

Just use freeze dried raw. Easy peasy.

Really helpful video but very difficult to follow when the person on the right keeps speaking over and interrupting the person on the left
