East Lansing. Fall Term 1983. Freshman Year. My first game in Spartan Stadium (that I can recall). The student section was PACKED - we literally sat on top of each other, the rows as steep as they seemed. I met Butch Rolle and Carl Banks the week previous. They lived in my dorm. North Case Hall. Illinois’ co leading receiver in the 1983 season is a name that lives in infamy here in Minnesota. It is Tim Brewster who had a DISASTROUS four run as head coach and set the program back many years. And when Mike white talks about a balanced offense for 1983 he wasn’t kidding. Illinois ran the ball about 43 times a game and threw 33 times a game for a 55/45 run pass split.
