- Biggest Paddle Day in quite sometime as Jaws / Peace goes off. Albee Layer, Billy Kemper, Torrey Meister, Tyler Larronde, Kai Paula, Paige Alms, Ian Walsh, Fransisco Porcella, Nathan Florence, Steve Roberson, Othmane Choufani and more take on massive waves.
After the passing of big wave surfer marcio 'mad dog' freire (one of the first guys that started paddling Jaws early on ) a lot of the surfers out there were surfing with his spirit in their minds and everyone charged in honor of Marcio.

Nathan florence broke his back in that brutal wipeout, he has no damage to his disc, nothing out of place, no pressure on his spine, and surgery isn’t required... I have a quadriplegic friend, if they have any idea of what they are playing with ! Quadriplegia is worth than death. imagine being in a Supermax cell, the door is open but you can't go out. Outside there is the beach, the surf, the girls, the party... this is what Quadriplegia is about.
Sometimes I would like to see how long the hold down is instead of cutting away right after they fall.

So many surfers. Wow. Used to be only a few guys 25 years ago here. More and more crowded in so many known spots. Maybe in 25 years from now, people will have to get surfing licenses or passes to control the ever increasing number of surfers at a certain spot or it could turnout like an overcrowded Waterpark
