When I first saw this video, I could not believe my eyes, it was as if I was actually watching ironman take flight. The amount of skill, talent, dedication and courage it takes to pull something like this off, Vince was legendary, and will forever be a found father of jet suit aviation. Rest in Peace, Jetman.
We will always remember you Vince. You were so passionate and inspiring.Thank you for inspiring us to chase our dreams.Thank you for pushing the boundaries of human flight. Thank you Jetman ♥️
Wii nunchuk isn't exactly the most accurate analog platform. I suppose they don't need fine detail, but those nunchucks have long had drifting deadzones, and have been known to crack and even snap off leaving a sharp stump at best.
They couldn't design anything better.. and despite 'the foolish' commenting, below, it is designed for hundreds of hours use. The flights are short and will never add up to a month of gaming before being replaced.. it is perfectly applicable engineering.
@@SLINGSHOTWORLDTV "They couldn't design anything better" You dont "foolishly" believe that do you? I assure you they could. The controller was designed for hundreds of hours of use using the cheapest parts they could get away with. They weren't designed with someones life on the line. @@SLINGSHOTWORLDTV It's also very cheap, which when considering the value of a human life, I suppose goes hand in hand. ------ .... wtf are you on about? It's a wii nunchuk. Possibly the worst analog application in the entire gallery of console gaming.
Guys, you are the best! You create the future and you do it greatly! Thank you very much for the new video and all of your work! I wish you all good things!
When he starts to commit to the climb he's got to go full throttle and gain altitude as fast as possible because if the engines fail during that time he won't have enough height to use his parachute. That's the most dangerous part of his flight.
You Dubai folks have All the fun!!! Great Work! Suggestion: don't use ABC powder based Fire extinguishers on your turbines, the grit in the powder destroys the bearings. Use Halon instead. A few bucks more, but will save your turbine. Turbine helo pilot 26 years, we only use Halon.
I think their very much underestimating how much of a leap this is in human innovation, in my opinion. Like he was literally just hovering there and then took off like a jet. Literally a flying human!
backstory for you: yves rossy the man who invented and started flying this jetsuit, the original jetman, detached himself from jetman dubai because safety issues: the way the jetsuit works, if anything happens between take off up to 250m-300m there's no plan b and the pilot will die. But jetman dubai wanted spectacle, wanted the visual of take off from ground into flight.
for take-off and landing..seems like the vertical/horizontal should all be automated/programmed. Seems like the computer can adjust must faster than your manual control, no?
I use a Wiimote/Nunchuk to play Call of Duty on my PS4. Every year the equipment I need gets rarer and rarer and I fear one day it won’t be supported anymore. Today, I saw you guys are using a Nunchuk! It gave me renewed hope that my coping mechanism won’t go anywhere anytime soon! Cheers from USA
I think Yves Rossy is not part of the Human Flight Project because of the simple fact that this may not be what he had in mind. If you keep adding things to the wing, it will soon become an inside-out airplane. Those thrusters could be easily controlled with a gyro instead of the joystick (safer but less fun).
You guys are awesome, hope one day to visit you and maybe join your team if possible. Flying has always been my passion and looking forward to help and support you
Algunos preguntando por Yves Rossy, obviamente no está descansando ni se a retirado, él debe estar trabajando en algún proyecto que como siempre nos sorprenderá..
I was wondering that my self. Like the Wright Brothers, He proved it could be done. He should always get some of the spotlight. Courage, determination, and incredible vision.
Team up with Tesla and Space X. Seems to be a perfect fit and I think Elon Musk would have interest. Air transport... etc.. Nice match up. They have the programming/controls setup for the vertical take-off and landing elements.
The engineering miniaturization of the wing and jet engines to meet or a blend of etgonomcs continues to elevate humans engenuity from the original ideas of the Swedish Grand Master Yves Rossy.
I'm an Aerospace Engineer, and I'll try to reverse engineer their design to figure out how much pilot weight the wing can sustain in hover mode ;) The main weight factors are the weight of the 4 engines, the wing structure and combined parts, and the fuel. Let's go! ENGINES I confirmed they used 4 jet turbine engines from JetCat called P400-PRO-LN. They produce 400 Newtons of thrust, a total of 1,600 N of thrust! So all engines combined can lift 1,600N/9.81m/s^2 = 163.1 kg total. They weigh 4.06 kg each, which is a total of 16.24 kg. FUEL They say on their website they have approximately 13 min of flight but they don't use max thrust all the time, just for take-off and max speed tests. Let's say if they were at max thrust all the time, they probably have around 6 min. The P400-PRO-LN Consumption Full load is 1,392 ml/min, so 4 are 5,568 ml/min or 5.568 L/min of kerosene. Therefore, we can figure out how much fuel he carries, which is approximately 5.568 L/min x 6 min = 33.408 L of kerosene. 1 L of kerosene = 0.819 kg. So 33.408 L of kerosene = 27.36 kg. WING The hardest one to estimate. It's made of carbon fiber, but we can't see what's inside in terms of electronics, ribs, and spars. Let me know below how much you think it weighs, and I'll update the calculations! But for now, let's say it has a max of 5 kg. ----- Finally, we have: 163.1 - 16.24 - 27.36 - 5 = 114.5 kg. So a pilot with all the equipment and gears can weigh a max of 114.5 kg to at least hover. The lighter he/she is, the faster accelerations he/she can pull from this wing. Such an amazing project! I wished they kept going. RIP Vince.
My mum had one of them. She swapped it for a washing machine. Far more useful she said.. Seriously wtf can u use it for? To get to the end of the road and back?
What a legend! RIP Vince....history will never forget that you were the first human to truly fly and everything hereafter is thanks to you
Yves is the first though I think
So sad it was for me.....Rest In Peace our hero...
RIP... You lived a great life. It's sad to hear him say... It's just the beginning :(
I'd have to say probably from this
The ending hearing Vince speak now saying that they are just getting started is so heartbreaking. A true legend gone too soon!

Haha using a Wii Nunchuk is such a good idea, perfect fit for this application
I thought the exact opposite.
A $20 wii nunchuk definitely isn't something they should be risking that much on.

Yes great point!! Im not sure if engineers realize this, im sure they don't want to rebuild the turbines constantly once they get it dialed in.

This is so amazing, i love to watch every video of jetman. If there would be any possibility to join the team i would not hesitate to join!
Well now its time to transition from forward flight back to hover and land. no need of parachutes landing.
My thoughts exactly.
The problem is that you can't take more fuel on the flight. And what is - burns out in a couple of minutes
Now he’s dead (;
Probably died trying to land without parachute

Love all of your vids! Please keep posting!
