Genuine reaction, seeing the spears standing straight surrounding him makes me tear up consistently. I agree this is the best they've released, I'm so excited!
I'm currently reading Memory of Light and my first thought looking at this poster was; Thom carrying Moraine out of the Fox Tower! Of course at 2nd glance its the Aeil Waste, the Maiden Spears guarding Rand's path as they leave Rhuidan. Beautifully done. Such an improvement over the earlier ones. Thanks for the close up of Rand's arms highlighting the dragon tattoos. I'm sooo ready for March!
There were things I loved in season 1, also things I hated. I liked season 2. I loved the books. You just have to accept that the series is different than the books.

I dislike being called a book cloak because I'm not harsh and hating on the TV show. I'm so happy to see my love on another medium (like you cant collar people on TV and sky battles?? how would that not look corny...) and really do think of it as another turning of the wheel. It's nice to see his vision live on. it's wonderful to see people picking up the books when they might not have without the show. I love watching the episode reviews and the discussions and theories! Do I love 100% everything about the show- no, I have complaints. Plenty of complaints but I'm still able to enjoy the show and still love my book. Amazon/Sony or Rafe haven't ruined the Fandom for me the way say JK Rowling has for some of her HP fans, or Netflix for The Witcher. I wasn't overly excited for S3 but now seeing this poster - which ia beautiful I'm pumped!
Season 1s posters were sub par because they played the "who is it" card and couldnt promote Rand. They failed with the second poster as they promoted Moiraine over Rand still insinuating her as the main character. Hopefully this is part of the grand reset and we see Rand get the prominance that the story needs dor this to kick on.
Not all Wise Ones are Dreamers. Most are not. However, the 4 Wise Ones that met Rand and the others when Rand arrived in the Waste are Dreamwalkers. All 4 of them, so one extent or another, had Dreams where they saw Rand in the Waste (among other things in the Dreams). Sorry to correct you again. I think your videos are great and very informative. I am not trying to correct you to mske you look bad. When an Aiel woman goes into Rhuidian the first time, she goes into one of the rings/arches. There she sees a multitude of possible futures. (Moiraine entered this arch.) She msy remember some or hints of others or later in life something may happen that triggers her to remember something she might have seen. When a Wise One apprentice is ready to be a Wise One, she goes bsck in Rhuidian. This time she enters the glass columns and sees the past through the eyes of her ancestors. Aviendha went through a third time (accidentally - she did not realize she was going through a second time). This third time she saw a possible future through the eyes of her possible descendants. Bair also tried going through a 3 time and she saw a future.
I don't understand the "hate" that it isn't exactly like the books, 40-50 pages of travel or a single conversation wouldnt translate to film at all. Yeah they are changing the overall story in ways but at least the show is giving some love to the series.
Very excited to see how some of these plotlines play out! Can't wait for Two Rivers and the Waste. Curious to hear other people's thoughts re: Mat going to the Waste and whether we will be getting anything around the Stone of Tear this season. A little worried that, based on Mat's use of the dagger in the finale of S2 that we won't be getting the Ashandarei and that if we don't go to the Stone this season we won't get the redstone doorframe ter'angreal. I'm just hoping that the Aelfinn/Eelfinn are not completely cut, especially considering how pivotal an interaction it is for Mat and the direction of his story later on. We will just have to see!
It makes sense that S3 will be the best as it covers the best book, The Shadow Rising. Even in the written series, people struggle with the first 3 books. The hold a special place in my heart, but the story is fine untill TSR, then it takes off and becomes something amazing.
Its finally adapting the books that gave the series its identity, where the WoT finally came into its own. The series has the opportunity to do the same. It has shown that potential.
I saw that poster and SCREAMED! I'm so ready! I need a season 4. Book 5 is my favorite. I feel like Season 4 will be a Book 5/6 combo or maybe a combo of several of the later books ( 7/8) also being in Season 4. I truly think Season 3 will be THE season that brings everyone in. I hope Amazon sees how big the show is for us after.
Oh, and the spears' length, well, it's not in the canon but not so far a stretch for Aiel to have a longer version for ceremonial purposes. Swords are durable but spears would break easily so they would need to be replaced. I could imagine them having a special spear, crafted by each warrior in a ceremony or passing hands from generation to generation etc. There's incidents for practices and rituals like that in some cultures, and Jordan did use real world inspiration for his world building.
The season 1 poster may have sucked but I don’t know if I would have been interested in watching if it wasn't for it...then reading the books...now I'm on my gazillionth reread ❤
I get less and less excited for each season as the changes hit me in not the best ways. But honestly after recently managing to get through and finish the last 3 books at once, I’ve kind of come to the realization that the series might have departed or deviated so far that they’d never be like the books again, and that Season 1 COVID was the closest we will get, but I’m ok with that now. More so than when I still had yet to finish the series. I think I can try to enjoy them separately by loving the books and not getting too attached to the authenticity of the show. The ending of the books are enough for me. Ending of Gathering of Storms being my absolute favorite of all time, and the show is just a bonus. My greatest hope is that they prove me wrong with the later seasons (starting from season 3) and actually stick to the books a lot more clearly, but it’s no longer skin off my back. Maybe if Amazon actually gave them more runtime/episode count, but that’s a dream
I'm a book reader and I like the show okay but I've tried to get my family to watch and they just can't get into it. They are trying to figure out what is so special about "the dragon guy" and yeah honestly I'm having a hard time explaining it to them because he hasn't done anything cool to give us sneak peak at what he is supposed to be.
He's a slow burner, that's what's special about him. Just imagine who'd watch marvel and dc if the heroes took 3 seasons to show their powers! But that's what makes WoT so special to me, it's not the fast food sort of content and I'm happy the show sticked to the books here.
I’d like the new poster better as a book cover, as I prefer the Marvel-style posters from S2 and S1 for TV season posters. I am looking forward to S3, but I LOVED S1 and do not agree with the complaints or that S2 was so much better, but I did really like S2.
For me, as a book read multiple times, season 1 was mid but season 2 felt more like the books. I'm excited for season 3 and hope we can get as much as possible

A lot of people are pointing out that the spears here are too long to be Aiel spears and I agree that we have not seen modern Aiel using spears this long in the show (or in the books). I haven't seen this theory put out anywhere yet so..........What if the spears that we see in the poster are not modern Aiel spears, but representations of the spears used when Rhuidean was being built. Instead of the "Glass Columns" being what Rand has to walk through it is the "Field of Ancient Spears". This poster could represent the ter'angreal at the center of Rhuidean.
Season 1 was blah, seaspn 2 was great. I'm looking fwd to season 3. I feel like when you stop expecting the show to be a 1 for 1 copy of the books then it's very enjoyable.
If you zoom in, you can see her blue ring. Plus the boots are not Aeil. Looks like whoever she is had a hard go of it for sure. The hair had me second guessing as well.
@@stephaniemilligan1067and I just watched Loren’s video on Unraveling the Pattern and he showed that the official release of the poster did state that it was Moiraine, so my bad. I wasn’t able to zoom in enough to see the ring. Thanks for the heads up on that detail, I’ll look for it!!
Good to see you again Uno, I really like how you said _Feck you and your oaths_ to the lady who doesn't know how to trim her own nails. Didn't like how she gave you the horn, not the one you were looking for unfortunately.
I want to be excited, i thought season 1 was "ok", season 2 was better, but the finale episodes fell a bit flat for me for both seasons. I dont understand how they just cannot see to do a large scale battle better than what they are. In the books the Whitecloaks had something like 2000 men i just did not get the sense of a big battle at the end of season 2. It felt like a bunch oh little battles with just a few people fighting, also Rand should have been the one to defeat Ishamael he shouldnt have had to basically be saved by egwene. Anyways still looking forward to the 3rd season but i have revlservations about basically just the last episode. I rwally hope they nail it though this time. I really hope that they do not have Moiraine take Matt's spot in Rhuidean. If she does i can understand it with time and season constraints but i would not be a fan of that change.
There will always be malcontents out there. As for the poster, it's beautiful but it's not supposed to be a Rand and Moirain show. I'd love the poster to represent the ensemble cast, but put them on it all at once, it becomes too crowded. I hope there are more beautiful poster motives this year. As for the majority of book readers liking/not liking the show, we don't know, there's no representative poll out there. There's a well researched phenomenon in social sciences that we tend to judge the opinion of the majority by the most vocal representatives. The true majority is usually non vocal on social media etc. And as with elections, where only the opinion of actual voters matters, so not all readers are equally important for Amazon and the show's success. I for one feel absolutely privileged to be able to watch all the fantasy adaptations out there, even if they stray from the canon quite a bit. I would only get upset if the shows run contrary to the books and misrepresent the authors' goals and values. Seriously, I can't picture Jordan unhappy with a culturally/ethnically mixed cast or some such nonsense some people took so personally, as if they wrote WoT themselves. Thank you Jon for bringing us the news! As always a delight to watch 😊
@@WoTUp I haven't seen the original post. and true the original scene only included Moiraine and Rand, but like i said, the hair looked like Aviendah, and having Rand carry her like that would give a more 'believable' alternate explanation as to why Avi is openly hostile to Rand that can be easily portrayed on screen. Besides it was just my first impression looking at the poster.
I wish people would get that everyone reads their own books and see their own shows. I certainly thought the books WERE about the Aes Sedai, Moiraine, Egwene, Nyneave, Elayne…certainly there is a lot more content from female perspectives than male. I didn’t like Rand, I kinda liked Mat and Perrin’s story bored the crap out of me. We are all different. Rafe also read his own book and this is his vision, not ours. I think he will do the Shadow Rising and that is Rand, Perrin, Mat and the women in Tanchico so we will get it all. The book is about ALL OF THEM.
why are you so concerned about book readers who don't like the show? the show stands on its own, we should entice those who haven't read the books but like an interesting story with strong characters. I've met so many people who were turned off by the commitment of the book series but are intrigued by its popularity and genre... go for them
Most of the marketing is geared towards non book readers. Amazon/Sony is already reaching them. My channel does not attract those who haven't seen the show AND haven't read the books. People who watch me generally love one or the other or both. Here on my channel, it's a rough split 60/40 between people who love the show and those that have read the books and are WoT fans but dont like it. They still watch myself and other WoT youtubers just to keep up on things, but dont intend on watching the show further. So I'm appealing to them. Sure, the show stands on its own. But if you're a fan of it, then we need more viewers to guarantee an S4 (I've done a few videos on the whys and hows I've gotten from insiders) I'm reaching out to those I know I can appeal to because I know my audience. :)
I liked the unraveled character posters from season 1. Also thought season 2's duo posters were pretty great! The everyone together poster was a bit much, but it was still nice looking imo. The worst is the main season 1 poster with everyone on it. I do think the Prime logo is one of the ugliest logos I've ever seen and it ruins everything it touches.
Poster is great. The book fans that don't like the show have a bad case of the "it's not like "I" imagined it". They read things before the show was released and made up their minds they were going to like it because itr wasn't going to be exactly like the books. We all know that was not ever going to be possible. We were told it was going be as if it were another turning of the Wheel. And still they have their hissy fits and make nasty videos trashing the show. Sad shit if you ask me. I waited 3 decades for this. I know the material as well as anyone. I have read the series many many times. I have issues with the show. I have issues with any adaptation of a series of books because it can't be just like the books no matter what. But the people who go out of their way to try to ruin the show are just over the top. I guarantee they didn't wait as long as I have. They didn't despair that there ever would be any adaptation. And they intentionally try to ruin it for other people? No words for how low that is. I can't wait for season 3. I like the fact that the plots do not directly mirror the books. I can still be surprised. That has happened since the first time I read any of the books. That is fun. And I am at that point in life where I'll take whatever fun I can get. lol I guess waiting 30 years is nothing like waiting and still waiting for almost 50 years for Michael Morrcock's Elric of Melnibone to be adapted to live action. I guess we'll have to wait for Moorcock to croak for that to have any chnace of happening. sad lol
I'm a book fan from back in the nineties. The show has problems with pacing, juvenile love triangle. Having Rand learn the sword from a mental patient who is clearly unable to properly teach sword craft. But there are a great many things I like about the show. It is it's own thing. Like every adaptation I've ever seen. I do like it and it's a much better adaptation than we got for The Sword of Truth series aka Legends of the Seeker.
It’s still sad just seeing greater adaptations or just much better adaptations in the new avatar, fallout, cobra Kai, and even arcane. Especially when the books were so great and its world and characters so expansive.
As a book reader the worst thing that turned me off was in most instances was the casting when i watched season 1 i asked myself if the people running the show had read the books as i continued watching i realized that we were dealing with woke garbage. My love for the books made me watch season 2 and hope for better and it was better until we met Lanfear who is supposed to be the most beautiful woman in the world then Avienda who is supposed to be tall with red hair so what ruined this show is casting.
Ill try dancing a bit :D What I can do is try verbally stating when spoilers are done too maybe. Its not perfect (hafta watch the whole thing through) but it may help!

I hope they actually make the three boys more as the story is about them not the aie sedan and moraine
:)
Mat had to go to rhuidean, not Rand
Rand HAD to go to Rhuidian to get his dragons and know the secret of the Aiel and become the chief of chiefs.
@ I’m talking about what the snakes said. The snakes told Mat he had to go, Rand said they didn’t mention Rhuidean to him.
And I am at that point in life where I'll take whatever fun I can get. lol
I guess waiting 30 years is nothing like waiting and still waiting for almost 50 years for Michael Morrcock's Elric of Melnibone to be adapted to live action. I guess we'll have to wait for Moorcock to croak for that to have any chnace of happening. sad lol
I’m pretty sure that’s Avi?
Alt Text on the original post confirmed it is Moiraine.
Is rand carrying elayne in the poster?
Alt Text on the original post confirmed it is Moiraine.
@ ahh can’t wait I liked the first 2 seasons even though season one was kinda all over the place
I think that sword lesson from the former captain is just the beginning
It’s still sad just seeing greater adaptations or just much better adaptations in the new avatar, fallout, cobra Kai, and even arcane. Especially when the books were so great and its world and characters so expansive.
I would love to rewatch legends of the seeker. It was silly but fun
Odd. I find the casting to be one of the best parts of the show every characterbis damn near perfect. And Ive read the series on repeat since 1990.
Fortunately, Taylor Napier is also on BlueSky, and he reposted this image there for us fans.
X? Never again; I'll wait for you and others here and BlueSky
Oh im on Bluesky!
I have poor eyesight so couldn't see the red hand. Maybe u could wear a hat or wig when u talk spoilers. Thanks in advance.
Ill try dancing a bit :D
What I can do is try verbally stating when spoilers are done too maybe. Its not perfect (hafta watch the whole thing through) but it may help!
Hey Jon. Can you share your numbers with us? How do you know most book fans do not hate the show? Don't say your friend group
I'll pass thanks. I have too much respect for the source material, and tis AIN'T that.
I'm willing to bet that isn't Moraine in that poster. Hair colour is wrong
It's confirmed by Amazon that it's her
Probably a body double but I probably think she's Moiraine
The hair is a scarf
I love this poster... Finally, after 3 seasons we are getting a poster i want on the cover of a book especially the best book(IMO) The Shadow Rising
Ikr???
