@JartiousHow about a child prodigy at the Harpsichord, nicknamed the Wonder of the Age? "Élisabeth-Claude Jacquet was born on March 17, 1665, (twenty years before J S Bach), into a family of musicians and master instrument-makers (Harpsichords) in the parish of Saint-Louis-en-l'Île, Paris. When she was five, Louis XIV, the "Sun King," took notice of her when she performed at his palace of Versailles. This eventually led to her becoming a musician in his court. She wrote most of her works under his patronage." Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy sister (the latter last name as the family had converted to Lutheran religion from Judaism) Fanny Henzel (after she married) was a published composer. Amy H. H. Beach (an American) another, Cecile Chaminade, and Marcelle Germaine Taillefesse (one of the Les Six) also come to mind. I have played music by all of these composers who happened to be Women, and this before the internet.
Wait until this guy learns about Nadia Boulanger and her sister Lily
A really cool piece by any composer…
What about Fanny Mendelssohn, Cecile Chaminade, or Clara Schumann?
Chaminade is peak
first female composer you’ve heard of? not even Clara Schumann or fanny Mendelssohn?
