It would be really interesting to have a similar video, but instead of comparing technical difficulty, comparing the complexity of the scale itself from a composer’s standpoint. For example: interlocked octaves forming a chromatic scale in Mazzepa is much more complex than a plain chromatic scale. Or embedding the chromatic scale in a more complex texture like in the winter wind etude. Cool video
Well obviously there pretty different from each other considering that in liszts final version of la campanella on half a bar is actually chromatic but in general i dont think that comes close to being harder than a majority of liszt pieces
And i have original composition Scherzo furioso in B minor and the last is chromatic and the double chromatic scales like Scherzo no.1 in B minor for Chopin and the last Scherzo furioso in B minor is B major.
my bad you put La Campanella after flight of the bumblebee (literally all of flight of the bumblebee is chromatic and only half a bar is chromatic in la Campanella)
My personal favorite chromatic scale is probably Chasse Neige. Also can we just take the time to acknowledge that Alkan can’t stop using double sharps even when he’s just writing chromatic scales?
Wtf ARE SOME OF THESE PIECES?!?! *WTF WAS LEVEL 10?!?!* Edit: lessgo im first; subscribe to this guy Jart right here, impressing us with these pieces!!!
Just to clarify, it's not me who's playing in these videos. You can read the name of each pianist at the start of each new clip. (I hope to play them all one day though, and if I do I will upload them)
@@Jartious I know. I meant, showing us these parts of the pieces and how impressive they are when played. Also, chase your dreams, and I hope all goes well.
Where’s Chopin op 10 no2 that’s actually called chromatic
Surely Chopin etude op. 10 no. 2 deserves a mention? That's a chromatic scale with 3-4-5.
And Czerny 365 19 is a beefed up version of that etude :)
Godowsky version?
@@ikschrijflangenamen probably Level 5 or level 6
@@aml-071thecosmicenderman3 agree with you btw
And feux follets (repeated note chromatic scales with 4 and 5)
Chromatics - Exist
Chopin - BRRRRRR
That scale is so iconic 1:10

I arleady knewd that Hamelin Etude No.3 gonna be here. This Etude is easily harder than Paganini Etude No.4 and most Liszt pieces

how about grand galop chromatique? the technique feels similar to chopin op10 no2.

Bachs chromatische Fantasie und Fuge BWV 903
@@illia_dmytryk_style2221 I love that piece
3:46 At this point you'd be better practicing chords lmao, somehow a simple chromatic scale feels fundamentally different in it's difficulty.
Yeah true
I am sorry, But who thought that this was playable
Never underestimate that one variation of a song
@@Touhouuuit’s a piec- nah, I won’t be that guy
One thing to point out, in the desc where you wrote "S. 161" for la campanella, it should be "S. 141"
Huh? Where did you see S 161?
@@JartiousIt’s a RUclips link in your description, it says S. 161 for La Campanella
