I owned one of these years ago, I want to say almost 20 years ago. We used to fly them off the sand dunes of Cape Cod. You can hang 50 feet over all the EPP combat planes, then dive down for a tbone straight to the flapperon horns. then do 6 rolls in 3 seconds and laugh as your buddy takes the walk of shame down the slope. Cannot wait to build one again...YESSS!
First of all John this is one of The Best Tutorials I've ever seen and your choice for "Those Magnificent Men and Their Flying Machines" had me yelling, "Bravissimo" - which I never do because 'Im a Manly Man, dammit !' Very well presented Sir and most appreciated. I do have one question 'tho', is the dimensions of your material 20" by 30" / mm by mm (?), I ask since this is the only size I've been able to locate so far here in Southern California and am eventually going to build one with a 42" span and a 70° sweep on the leading edge with auxiliary electric power and folding prop; the only structural modification I intend to implement is dual vertical fins similar to the NAVY's F7U-1 Cutlass fighter since I've always been "in Love" with that design too. I'm just getting back into RC flying and wanted something to reacquaint myself with flying a ship with either separate elevator and ailerons or 'elevons' - which begs the question - which format are you using? Anyway, thank you once again for an Excellent post of your tutorial as it is (once again) most appreciated and by the time you read this I should be making the first cut to build my Pibros. I've always been intrigued with 'deltas' and flying wings, especially since I first saw an F-102 land at Camarillo A.F.B. in 1960 so built a 24" FF glider which I flew from the plateau where our house was located to the Pacific Ocean
