Promo For “Home Improvement “- I remember that episode being described in this Promo. It was called, “‘Twas The Blight Before Christmas “. The plot of the episode was that one of the sons, Brad, was invited to go on a Ski Trip with the family of one of his friends during the Christmas holiday and Brad’s parents wouldn’t let him go. He spends the whole episode moping around and even thinking of hitchhiking to the Ski resort until Tim Allen talks some sense into him.
Weird, a friend just last week sent me a clip of Joe's Life and was like "I used to watch this." I don't remember that show and I remember just about every show from this time period. I remember Thea; though i never watched it
Man the ABC Saturday movie promo is such a nostalgia bomb (along with all the other big 3 network movie of the night) My parents rarely were on the same page as far as TV shows but would usually watch the movies of the week although probably not an Ernest movie haha
That X-Men Pizza Hut offer makes me remember how the early to mid 90s was a great time to be a fan of Marvel Comics. You had the Saturday Morning X-Men and Spider-Man cartoons, you had a string of incredible video games hitting both the arcade and home consoles, and you had some great toys at the time as well. Too bad the comics industry itself was about to hit some major bumps, but in terms of merch, fans had it pretty good.
This was around the time I was really into collecting Marvel comic trading cards such as the Marvel Masterpiece series. The first 1992 set in particular has a lot of personal nostalgia for me.
I collected the ‘93 and ‘94 sets as well but I agree, the ‘92 set by Joe Jusko was incredible. I actually bought a complete set in a tin a few years ago before the pandemic for around $100 and am so grateful I did it then, as the same tin goes for about three times more these days.
5:30 Does anyone know the song being played for this commercial? I remember loving it back in the day and Shazam sadly doesn't give any results. It has a striking resemblance to Enigma, but not sure if it's just something from a sound bank.
It's music made specifically for the commercial. 5:46 is the "I love what you do for me Toyota" theme they used at the time. It's not stock or library music or something that would be on Shazam.
Black & Decker- The “Shell Baker” appliance being promoted in this commercial sounds like a nice idea, but thinking about how many times someone would use it, I would imagine it would just end up being clutter in people’s kitchens.

Pull Ups training pants…That jingle is one of the more everlasting ones of the decade…
1:18 I guess that resolves the Fruit of the Loom mystery. At least in 1993 there wasn't a cornucopia in the logo.
It *never* had one in the logo. I'll be posting another Fruit of the Loom ad from 1984 soon and it uses the same exact logo as the one seen here.
Nice set of commercials. Besides the local spots I remember the other commercials vividly. These aired a few days after I turned 8.

9:13 - The song intended to parody models became their theme…
Holy New England what an accent on the "furnicha" ad! I had to find out what a "Canadian Glider" was.
With "Thea"; if that sitcom is remembered for anything it's for being one of the first projects for singer and future "Moesha" star Brandy Norwood
8:28 - I know inflation and all, but today, I think $11 gets you two burgers and a small fry at McDonald’s…

@@80sCommercialVaultthat first marvel masterpiece series was just stunning. The ones that came immediately after it weren't nearly as good.

Christmas was more fun in the 90s.
Absolutely!
