a bit of an unpolished cover here. i probably could've kept practicing to get it to sound better, but... i dunno. i think it fits better that the song is unpolished, but moreso reflects _my_ interpretation and experience with the song (more on that below.) this is the theme of dr. maruki from persona 5 royal (if u do look up the song, don't read the comments cuz there'll be spoilers lol). he's one of my favorite video game characters, and i've been thinking about him a lot the past few weeks. as the title of the song implies, he's a character who spends a lot of time thinking about what things should be like "ideally" versus how they are in reality. and without going into too much detail, the past few months have been pretty difficult for me. i've spent a lot of time thinking about how things in _my_ life should be, "ideally", versus how they actually are. i suppose this cover is my way of saying that what i have right now is acceptable enough. i've worked hard to get where i am (for instance, going from Not having a job to Having a job), and things could be better... but when we're talking about the ideal versus the real, sometimes you have to accept what's real, while still fighting to push things towards the ideal. sorry for the philosophical ramble, lol. hope u enjoy the cover
In gnostic mythology, Yaldabaoth is the Demiurge, the creator of the imperfect and real world we live in, a cruel being who demands worship and respect without a reason or justification other than its so called superiority. In the Kabbalah, Adam Kadmon is the ideal of humanity, the perfect fusion and predecessor of male and female, order and chaos, divinity and mortality. And that perfection being violated during genesis is what brought damnation to mankind. In a way, both extremes are challenges to the Fool, the one who journeys, the one who defies. Stepping stones on its road to understanding itself. The real barriers of authority and judgement, and the ideal barriers of the hypothetical limits of humanity. Pull off your mask and pillage heaven, as they say. ... Okay I hope I managed to make a meaningful analysis of Persona 5 while avoiding spoilers by being as cryptic as possible, lol
when i first listened to this cover i didnt recognise the song, then i went and listened to it. its original instrumentation makes it really unique, but id be lying if i said i dont prefer this cover in many ways. it feels like it should play after a few loops of maruki's palace theme to hit the player in the feels with a familiar melody. this has gone from "the song that plays in the background of maruki's events i think" to "the song accompanied by maruki's events" in my mind
