It's as if we're demonizing having emotions, that we should be ashamed of them... and that we should make the effort to repress feelings that are normal and natural para lang hindi "talo" sa larong ito... and bottling up our feelings isn't healthy. I don't think anyone should win a prize for being the one who feels less. Walang "bawal" na feelings. All feelings are legitimate. For me, ang bawal is denying them and not being honest with them. Of course, how we let them out should be taken in consideration. There's always the chance of falling for someone, feeling jealous, wanting more commitment and exclusivity in this set up. These are normal feelings, thanks to our hormones. So when that happens, the mature thing to do is communicate honestly. If the other person were really a friend, then they would have that conversation with you. If the feelings aren't reciprocated, sometimes the best thing to do is to end the FWB set up. There's no use torturing someone by prolonging it. If the feelings are reciprocated, maybe the FWB relationship can be upgraded to a committed one :) FWBs aren't usually meant for the long-term. And just because it isn't a committed relationship, it doesn't mean people can't have their hearts ignited... or badly broken. So enjoy it while it lasts..and if feelings do develop, things have to change.. and who knows? :) So instead of "Ang ma-inlove, talo".... say, "Pag may ma-inlove..walang masama.. usap tayo." Yes, I do strongly agree and believe that Filipinos are not conservative at all, especially when it comes to millennials since this generation are still young and trying to have fun and experimenting new experiences. I think the more conservative ones left are the generation before the millennials since their practices before are different compared to the generation now. We are more very liberated and free to the point that it’s addicting and scary at the same time but its all for fun after all 😅 but I think that this mindset has to change. We are brainwashed with the thinking that life is just about sex and having fun. Due to this mindset I can say that it is very messy and will result in many situations that would destroy our relationship with others and at the same time how we view ourselves in terms of how we judge others by their bodies and our own as well. (I have a lot more to say about these two short paragraphs but I want to express my feeling first) I am a 17 year old girl and due to my experiences I can say that having a mindset like this destroyed how I view myself and others as well. I started to get conscious of my body to the point that I would consider having surgery like a boob job or others, because if I think that everything is about sex, I should have a perfect body in order for guys to like me. I know that this is now unrelated to the topic but this is just how I feel when I started diving into the world of lust and sexual desire. That is; if you are attractive, you attract more people to have sex with you, and want you by having the perfect body and a nice face. I pressured myself a lot and compared myself to girls who I’ll never be. It sucks to thing this way and to think that I will never be like “them”, them- meaning the girls/women which society dictates what defines a very attractive woman. I hate the media. I hate it so much that it gave me a very low self-esteem and my confidence went down. The media *promotes* false perfect beauty that isn’t even real. A beauty standard that is unachievable unless you become a model or a celebrity because you have the money to fix yourself (surgeries and etc) I just find it so unfair that most people think that it is the truth when in reality it is not. Its just a lie. And what makes it unfair is that people idolise these “attractive” people that aren’t even attractive in the first place. I’m not saying that all of them had surgeries but *almost everyone* did. I clearly know that everything is NOT about sex. There is more to life than just this. But I can’t help think this way especially if society is like this. I can’t help but to be affected and compare myself. I know what I’m feeling is just shallow and immature but I think that everything is just about attractiveness. Yes, I do strongly agree and believe that Filipinos are not conservative at all, especially when it comes to millennials since this generation are still young and trying to have fun and experimenting new experiences. I think the more conservative ones left are the generation before the millennials since their practices before are different compared to the generation now. We are more very liberated and free to the point that it’s addicting and scary at the same time but its all for fun after all 😅
but I think that this mindset has to change. We are brainwashed with the thinking that life is just about sex and having fun. Due to this mindset I can say that it is very messy and will result in many situations that would destroy our relationship with others and at the same time how we view ourselves in terms of how we judge others by their bodies and our own as well.
(I have a lot more to say about these two short paragraphs but I want to express my feeling first)
I am a 17 year old girl and due to my experiences I can say that having a mindset like this destroyed how I view myself and others as well. I started to get conscious of my body to the point that I would consider having surgery like a boob job or others, because if I think that everything is about sex, I should have a perfect body in order for guys to like me. I know that this is now unrelated to the topic but this is just how I feel when I started diving into the world of lust and sexual desire. That is; if you are attractive, you attract more people to have sex with you, and want you by having the perfect body and a nice face. I pressured myself a lot and compared myself to girls who I’ll never be. It sucks to thing this way and to think that I will never be like “them”, them- meaning the girls/women which society dictates what defines a very attractive woman.
I hate the media. I hate it so much that it gave me a very low self-esteem and my confidence went down. The media *promotes* false perfect beauty that isn’t even real. A beauty standard that is unachievable unless you become a model or a celebrity because you have the money to fix yourself (surgeries and etc) I just find it so unfair that most people think that it is the truth when in reality it is not. Its just a lie. And what makes it unfair is that people idolise these “attractive” people that aren’t even attractive in the first place. I’m not saying that all of them had surgeries but *almost everyone* did.
I clearly know that everything is NOT about sex. There is more to life than just this. But I can’t help think this way especially if society is like this. I can’t help but to be affected and compare myself. I know what I’m feeling is just shallow and immature but I think that everything is just about attractiveness.
