- U.S. Judge Carlton W. Reeves '89 of the Southern District of Mississippi delivered a defense of the role federal courts play in ensuring justice for marginalized groups throughout the United States. He also argued for the importance of ensuring diversity of backgrounds and perspectives on the federal bench. Reeves gave this lecture in honor of receiving the 2019 Thomas Jefferson Foundation Medal in Law. (University of Virginia School of Law, April 11, 2019)
brave man to deliver these words in this climate. your honor, more power to you, sir.
Thank you for your service and mind.
We need more judges like this man.
Reeves 11th commandment: thou shall not criticize a federal judge.
Thank you, Judge Reeves, for speaking the truth in these times of severe confirmation bias which has closed the minds of many Americans.
A Federal Judge isn't above criticism. Or the Law, either! ;-)
Listen to this man.
The intersection of federal and state...very interesting...
well said sir💯💯💯👏👏👏
These Polices and Court Staff are getting on my nerves. It's so true you cannot get through to Narcissists People. If a Child makes a mess. We do not tell another Person to clean up the Child's mess. If a Court lies and give out a false filing in my name. We do not keep asking an Attorney to clean up their mess. The Court and their Staff correct their own errors. The Court lied on me for whatever reasons. The Court corrects the lies. That is how it works. Not harassing other People dragging them into their mess. These are Grown Men and Women. They are to be held accountable for their actions and pay me my money. There is not a reason to hold a meeting on something this straight forward and obvious. Get it done already. Stop the harassment and excuses. If the Police can enforce false filings. They can definitely enforce complying with real filings.
The downside of affirmative action.
He missed his calling; instead of being a judge, he should have been a TV evangelist on late night TV.
He looks like emmitt smith.. hehehe

it gives me pause to hear a u.s district judge use such recklessly inflammatory language while arguing that somehow, judges shouldn't be criticized.
jim ewok exactly.
This fellow is a racist. Calling for "diversity" is calling for picking judges primarily on a basis other than their qualifications. Trump should pick the best CONSERVATIVE judges INDEPENDENT of race. Simply concept, but seems to be beyond racist, name calling pseudo-intellectuals like Reeves.
Well he's not, just white men
