Originally subbed to you for the Lost Ark content when it was releasing in NA. Really happy to see you grow/evolve your perspective as a gamer, it's exciting to watch!
Love watching you evolve from lost ark to new games and content. Glad your having fun bro.
BG3 is maybe the best RPG of all time. I tried to play starfield and left after 30 minutes to make a new build in BG3. I've got like 300 hrs in it since official release and I love it. It just has so many cool ways to play. My last build was a throwing barb. so much fun. Throwing enemies into other enemies is so much fun. I have not beaten the game. I keep starting over shortly after act 3 starts.
I do the same thing. I actually do like act 3. But just don’t enjoy the city as much. I do always fight the guy with the amazing boss music. And the dragon.
I am here for every Sywo video. So happy that you enjoyed the game so much!
The only complaint I have about this game is that Act 3 is unfinished. We were supposed to be able to visit the Upper City, but apparently that got cut from the game and influenced a bunch of things. We know this from data mining the game files. I believe Gortash should've had the ceremony in the Upper City. The Lower City was about Orin and getting her Netherstone. We also should've had more options when dealing with Gortash's ceremony. The companions feel like they lack dialogue in Act 3. And on top of this, the endings end abruptly, especially the evil one. No "2 months later" or anything of the sort, even though this was one of the things found in the game files.
Overall a very good experience, but I wish they took more time with Act 3 so we could actually get to explore the Upper City that was being mentioned by everyone in the game. I mean hell, the game's called Baldur's Gate and we didn't even get to visit all of Baldur's Gate Lower City.
glad you enjoyed it man, now if i were to suggest you should try some other CRPGs that are amazing too, divinity original sin 1&2 pillars of eternity 1&2 and pathfinder wrath of the righteous, if you get into the combat the game has so much beautiful stories and around 100-200+ hours of a single playthrough, really fantastic games :)
I'm on my 2nd playthrough. Both have been on tactician but this time, no save scumming. I really wanted to not piss people off in my first playthrough and see how it worked. Now a bunch of shit is semi-fucked on my 2nd playthrough cause of so many failed rolls but that's fine lol
Haha, no saves sounds like torture :D Or.. like real life
Coop is a WHOLE different experience, feels like a different game due to shared decisions, pacing slows down but everything is enjoyed much more
i want to play coop so badly but i need to convince my friends to buy game 😅😢
i play it in co-op, started in single player, in co-op is entirely a different experience... the amount of insane things that happened so far is just not real XD I go to an NPC to talk, shit start to happen, i get attacked by everything possible, meanwhile my friend.... goes around searching for milk to talk with a cat. And this shit always happens, i go around do things, and at one point no one is there , because my friend finds some random shit somewhere and we get separated =))
I had almost forgotten what it feels like to play something like this (been a huge Dragon Age and Neverwinter Nights fan). The amount of choices! I think in your next playthrough, you should spend more time in act 3 doing companion quests. The depth to some of their stories, how much they can grow compared to act 1... So many gut wrenching decisions and moments! To me they were sometimes better than the main story.
I haven't even finished and I already have 2-3 more runs planned so I can experience other choices. People complained about not getting more details on the companions' futures, but I think it makes enough of a difference during their personal quests that I don't care that much.
You should probably wait a bit before playing for Karlach, people are speculating her real good ending isn't in the game, maybe Larian will cave and give the fans a true happy ending.
When I finished my first run of BG3, I had the same feeling as finishing a good book. It was such a rare and wonderful feeling.
It's a singleplayer (or coop, love it) RPG based on DnD. It's not meant to be balanced (combat) :p. It's meant to be slightly challenging (on normal difficulty), offer a lot of ways to 'solve' combat (and non-combat) encounters and allow people to be creative in doing so. That's it. Other than that, nothing's broken here if you manage to 'break' the game by creating the ultimate one-shot-out-of-combat assasin-rogue/gloomstalker-ranger build or that sorcerer/warlock that can cast 10 eldritch Blasts per round. That's basically working as intended.
You MUST do a evil run, it feels like a complete different story than a "good" one.
i dont think you must. just because its different that doesnt mean its a must.
The evil run isn't fleshed out yet (except for dark urge), some of the pay off for an evil run was in the cut content. You really screw yourself on evil runs as they you are denied so many quests, companions, and rewards without anything in return. It should be a good option a year from now when they cut content gets fully implemented, like Larian so often does.
my first kill as the dark urge traumatized me i dont recommend it xD
God I tried but I was weak and could not do all the evil stuff ☹️
@@MikkosFree Larian mentioned they did that on purpose because as an evil person, you shouldn't have stuff available to you as much. I don't recall where I read it but just remember one of the devs mentioning that.
I’m weirdly depressed entering act 3, I don’t want it to be over. I’m taking my sweet time.
140 hours for my first playthough, tried to play anything else and i can agree with this video 100%
i’m at 155h and just got to act 2 two days ago 😭
I've been playing with my fiancé and we used firewine barrels and smokepowder barrels to annihilate the goblin army when they were invading Emerald Grove in one grandiose explosion of epic-ness. It was one of the most badass moments in gaming that either of us has ever had!
Oh shit there's an option where an army invades the druids? I think i'd like that.
@@SywoSan Ye you can either join the army or screw them over by placing traps in advance, I blew them up too.
I think its funny that people always are amazed by Rpgs when they are were MMOrpgs came from lol
Comparing Starfield to Baldurs Gate 3 is like comparing McDonald’s to a Michelin Star restaurant. Starfield has some of the most boring conversations I’ve ever heard. Baldurs Gate is very mature and graphic, making conversations so much more interesting.
They set the bar really high. I'm just finishing up act one. I played the original games when they were relesed but I really lost interest in the genre over time. Gaming in general has taken a big dive over the past few years in my opinion but I'm really enjoying BG3. I enjoyed your take on the game as well.
Lack of sleep, screwed eating schedule, yeah bg3 ruined me over
It's a passion project pure and simple. And it shows in every aspect. They took their time, working on what worked with Divinity original sin and channeled it all through DnD 5:e. Not flawless but near enough for me.
If you want another game with a story that changed my look on games aswell. Try witcher 3 wild hunt. Real good story aswell, combat is less tactical then BG3 though. Unless maybe you play on the hardest difficulty and try using sign + elixirs + oils for specific targets.
A good vs evil playthrough of the game is so different it's like playing a different game Sywo. It changes everything. Give it a go!
About to face the final boss only took 100 hours for my first playthrough 😅
I have seen many people get hooked into this game that normally wouldn't enjoy the things it has to offer.
To me that's proof the game was masterfully crafted.
Your facial expressions when it cuts back to you and your explaining your experience tell us how much you enjoyed BG3! Very happy for you it is indeed a fantastic game!!! Wishing you the best my friend 👍
Amazing competenet review!! You speak from what you know and what you like in games, and that shows through your review! It's totally honest and I loved hearing your perspective
I played till 4am last night because I really want to see what happen next in a certain storyline. No regrets.
no p2w, no extra crazy grind just good game play
higly recommend a play through on a warlock with max charisma, intelligence and perception
theres alot of hidden doors and walls and places most ppl wont ever see, also due to the dice roll needed to break through some magic barriers are like 18-30, yes i said 30 its crazy
-u need a warlock: to change skin, go invisable ,speak to animals, dead, ghost, control robots and a few other cool spells
Thank you for your sincere dialogue. You review/speak like a gamer, not a RUclipsr. Very refreshing and real. Keep up the great work. Subscribed!
You should not sleep on Final Fantasy XIV. It has one of the best if not the best stories in any video games. It's taken them 10 years to complete it and it's a masterpiece. The community there is also one of the best communities you will ever find in a multiplayer game. The music is incredible and the fights are top tier. If you skipped any of the main story on your ARR play, you should start over ecause the story is 200-300 hours long and everything is connected. Missing anything in the story will just make your experience worse. Trust me, you will be blown away by the story, community and music.
I'm so much more interested in Sywo now. Especially that he's genuinely curious about these games, tries them out and gives such a genuinely honest perspective on them. Would love to see you review more games like these. Carry on the great work Sywo!
Wonderful to see you expanding, and enjoying, new horizons Sywo! Stay happy!
On the point of replayability, even if you play only 2 or 3 runs, the number of hours played is still gonna be high compared to other games
BG3 is a masterpiece because you can feel how much love was going into that game!
Ok, now maybe Larian should turn this universe into an mmo.
Um, what? Was with you until you talked about lack of replayability. A single decision, even seemingly small, can change your entire experience. You could replay this game a half dozen times and still not have gone through everything.
I'm still in Act 1, but so far game is even better than their previous successor. Glad you're enjoying it
He thought MMOs were for adults, and CRPGs were for babies? What lol? You got it the wrong way round dear, for all your life.
Act3 was so dense in content it is overwhelming. Best act imo. I killed gortash immediately and the armors don't fuck with me anymore. Trying to save Helsin so I had to do it. I'm 200hrs In and I'm still not done.
I’m currently studying for boards exams and have avoided this game, but I can’t wait until i pass so this game ruin my life too.
do a run with custom characters, i found that guide that you can use multiplayer option to connect 3 other game instances to your main one.
so i choose : 1 gnome, 1 halfling, 1 dwarf, and 1 elf lady named snow
The best mmo that hasnt come out yet is one that plays like some of the best rpgs of all time for the leveling experience (like baldurs gate). Then late game would be pvp and pve stuff with the addition of more dialogue in dungeons and raids. One day maybe we'll get that
Honestly I'm not convinced that's even a good idea...
You are basically describing two completely different games and asking for them to be taped together. But why? People who just want the story stuff aren't necessarily going to be interested in raids and such. And there are also people who just want the endgame experience and would find having to go through all the story stuff to be a pain in the ass.
I think it's totally fine for games to focus on different things because you, as a player, can also play different games. I've never felt like there needs to be one game that does everything.
@kevadu meh, swtor was the best thing we got to this and people loved the leveling, I thought so too. The endgame was just completely lacking and the combat was clunky.
Mmorpgs always leave the rpg in the back imo. The idea of a story driven leveling experience that is interesting is something mmos lack almost always. Great story telling and dialogue like baldurs gate isn't mutually exclusive to mmos. I'm not saying all mmos need to be like this, but the one that does it correctly first will for sure be the most popular mmo.
a DLC for a pvp arena and pve dungeons would be really cool actually.
may not be for everyone but would give more to those who want more and another way to support the devs.
I feel like once you reach 7:40 in the video, thats the current gaming landscape ptsd talking.
Just wait until the mods for quests and additional content become available.
4:25 I didnt know Larian put Hillary Clinton in this game.
Dont worry. Balder Gate 3 also ruined me. I am a new father and I had a hard time trying to take care of my baby girl. I had to stap her in a baby carrier while playing it on my PC using a controller.
Playing a good game after spending thousands of hours playing MMORPGs is like a dying meth addict getting their addiction cured overnight by Jesus.
If you think good story doesn't have a place in MMORPGs then I heavily suggest you play FF14. Shadowbringers and Endwalker are still some of my favorite stories of all time, even above Baldur's Gate 3.
Hmm, I must be doing something wrong...I finished Act II i was at like 24 hours in. The game actually warned me that i was too low level, but I had defeated the boss and I walked all over the map and there was nothing left for me to do. So I just went on. All my characters were level 8.
if you were level 8 leaving act 2 you missed a crapton in either act 1 or 2 or both.
I literally feel like I could have made this video. Exactly my thoughts.
For MMORPG players like us I think the long term motivation will have to come via expansions or mods that bring new modes, like a repeatable dungeon you can do in a convenient way with other people, just like in MMORPGs.
Ruined me too. Every other game just feels like crap. I need to dive into a totally different genre that is harder to compare this to. My playtime for this is only lower than Elden Ring and the Total War Warhammer games. 270 hrs but like in a month.
10/10 masterpiece
How many spoilers are in this video? Realistic question because I haven’t played much yet and heard some of the things in act 3 in this video
Dude, watching you for years. Say a title like that when I am about to buy the game lmao. BG2 was great.
Spoilers? Doesn’t anyone give these warnings anymore?
Highly recommend Divinty original sin 2 defenitive edition made by same people even better than bg3 in some aspects
NO They dont need to sell anything in any shop if u wanna support the devs more u can gift the game in giveaway or ur friends
Uh.. I only play games with good stories. There's a lot more out there Baldur's Gate 3 isn't the first game with a good story.
Level 20 mod released end of last month. More than a game.
Me and hubby both enjoy playing BG3 together. Such a good game.
Only in act 2 but loving this game so far and looking forward to a dark urge plythrough and one using the parasite abilities as well.
You're talking about your favorite character... I had a quest to kill her. So I did. Lol
This game has so much replay value.
Wasteland 2&3 are great games too.
For me, MMO's are the least fun games. For me, MMO's are almost same category as mobile games compared to other games.
Not sure if you ever played it but I would really like to see if you could try Path of Exile, complex game but truly F2P!!! Also, there has been an influx of player's playing the game, seems to be a game right up your alley, hardly any story really but what there is is pretty good!
I thought about it. Very tempted
Why do ppl say life changing? Like no one ever played Dragon age origins.
This is what I like to see, to feel, to experience too!!! All MMORPG's should take inspiration from Baldur's Gate! Fixing to play POE, for one I've never played it but mainly because I've redownloaded Lost Ark but still can't bring myself to play it, the update's doesn't fix the core of the problem and it seems the community is getting more and more cringe.
I think you're missing the point. Baldurs gate 3 is complete. There's no extra. You said it yourself. No microtransactions. You got a complete package, and that's it. So there's not gonna be a pvp mode or dungeons to keep you playing, and the reason for that is they are not trying to keep you playing because they don't wanna keep taking all your money. We gotta break this "Modern Gaming" concept. Be happy with what you got an amazing complete game with replayability. It's OK if a game ends..
Hats off to your wife who allows you and puts up with you for literally playing games all the time, while you have 3 children. Not many married man can afford that.
im at my second playthrough game is so insane
What made you start a 2nd?
Dark Urge run, it feels completly different
@thevirusplw09 virus nice to see u dude. And ofc u play a bard
Nice to see You too. Ofc first run was with bard and i loved it. Lets hope one day we will get mmorpg as good as bg3.
It’s not an MMO… wasn’t designed for long term play, just be an amazing experience where you decide what and how the story happens. Play dark urge and lay waste to the sword coast… it’s utterly a difference experience. I bet you miss a shit ton of content😂
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a masterpiece!
Agreed the only mmo that I will keep come back and playing is ff14. Mainly on single rpg nowadays
dunno if a game ruin you then u might rethink priorities of your mate
You sold me real quick. I'm getting it right now.
Nice Game sure, but not really the Genre I like.
But the future of MMORPGs still looks bad, most of them are just Mobile Games on PC or have Mobile Game Systems in them to drain the customers wallets. The Throne and Liberty CBT was embarrassing for example...
What is Boulder's Gate 3? :D
Will you upload your playthrough to youtube?
all your characters have eldritch blast? lol
Realized that too x)
act 1 9.5/10
act 2 8/10
act 3 7/10
overall probably 8.5/10
slightly better then hogwarts legacy for GOTY
my favorite example for advanced combat. light a child on fire and throw him into an explosive barrel. new definition of baby boomer. ahaha
I feel obligated to say: Shitty gateau
Whoever can guess which game this “ambient” town voiceline comes from gets a cookie 😂
You never imagined that an MMO could have a good story?
Ever heard of FFXIV?
Fantastic review coming from an MMO perspective!
LESSS GOOO
The game blew me away
It's not MMO though. CRPG to be exact.
Hell yeah power yo the people man
Thanks my issue. I have saves for pre battles because I want to fight the encounter again. There is no sneak map or battle single player map.
Great job
u thought story was for mmos wow u are clueless with games only single player games are for story .... not crappy mmos
Nice video mate 🫶🏻
best game ever
Stop the stupid clickbait titles please (then again, I clicked...)
Bg3 is terrible after act 1
get geforce now and play it again u seem to play at 15fps
Asmongold says hi. Try POE next.
