I love that Ibanez is incorporating the Alter Switch throughout their range. The styling of this guitar really reminds me of Ibanez's BTB bass range, at least from a construction aspect. Sounds great for rock!

I have one on backorder, the anticipation is killing me! Each toggle setting was unique but each one was distinctly useful! They all sound great! Versatile, great looking guitar. Your presentation of it is great. I've got the Edge Trem model coming, my first trem model! Can't wait, thanks again for a great video review of what my new guitar can sound like!
I bought the gold one (rgt 1220pb-abs). It sounds, looks and plays amazing. Very resonant, full rich sound, Ibanez edge is unreal and very versatile. I’ve never enjoyed the tone zone and air Norton combo as much with any other guitar. I’ve owned a number of prestige’s and this thing plays and sounds as good as any of them. But it does have a major flaw……. The finish on the burl top is really weak. After only a couple months of playing it has already developed a rash from picking and my fingers in-between the volume knob and strings. I also noticed the little cracks in the knots on the top are not filled with finish. I’m definitely gonna sand, stain and refinish at least the top. Might even use a nitrocellulose finish. If you’re into “relic’d” looking guitars, or considering refinishing it’s a great guitar. If not, I’d probably look elsewhere. Good luck!!

Beautiful guitar. Love that it's so dark sounding, and it cleans up really well. Nice mids, which I'm a huge fan of. I like the stripes because they make you play faster. I can't figure out a clever way to work in "It's so dark." Oh well.

Beautifully dark, both in sound and looks. If it weren't for the Q54 I'm saving up to buy, I would've gone for this, because of the stainless frets. But nah, it's still over my price range.

15:26 as soon as I heard the 2nd position my brain said “what just happened? I think something just went really right in the world” holy crap that second position is godly and makes me want to get this guitar (or at least setup this pickup combination) and that amp just for that setting alone even though its really dark.

I love how this guitar looks and sounds, but it's weird to me how this one is the same price range as the Japanese made RG652AHMFX prestige model. The prestige model also comes with a hard case worth 200 bucks. Would you go for the Prestige or Premium model if you could choose?

That Guitar .........."ITS REALLY DARK"............... I really like the neck thru design but the color is too dark for me. I dont mind the design if not so dark. It reminds me of camouflage. If you dropped it in the yard youd never find it lol. Thanks for the video Andy

I know I’m a bit late but was wondering if you could help me, I’ve just bought this guitar and played it for the first time , I can’t seem to get a clear distorted/ lead sound out of the guitar, no matter what I do with my pedals or the pickup configurations it all sounds muffled , am I being stupid or is that just what the guitar sounds like ?
It's really dark in sound and beauty. The coloring on the back is nearly as striking as the front it seemed.

I am 52 and purchased one LOL! The very first guitar that I picked up in the late 1980's was an RG so Ibanez will always have a soft spot in my heart as it's just one of those stupid things. It is a well-made guitar in every respect. I was a little worried about spending that kind of money for something out of Indonesia BUT I was glad to be proven wrong as it's a great guitar!

I have a guitar with a similar (or pherhaps the same) style of jack. I can report that it will brake, it only takes around 40 years to brake (guitar i have is from 1984 I believe), I had to replace it recently.

Sounds like the guitar isn't intonated or tuned correctly. This can contribute to the "darker sound". More reviewers need to make sure the gear is optimal.

@StringNefarious I agree. I just wondered why it's out of tune. It can't be that hard to realize the chords don't sound right it something must not be in tune. Fix it and re-shot a minute or two of video. Instead, he left it out of tune for an entire video. It just seems harmful to what the video is for. People want to know what it sounds like, and it being out of tune ruins that for at least the chord parts. It just seems like an odd thing to overlook as people will make decisions based on videos like this.
Well if it makes you feel any better this video made me really want to buy this guitar. My advice to you is to worry about yourself
