The no touching policy was a thing in real life and in real life she never actually touched him. However it was to protect him. All of the particles on his skin was washed off before that. She would have to eat him to transfer radioactive particles to herself and her baby. It was to protect his now completely gone immune system.

I decided to watch an episode of this out of boredom one night and ended up binge watching the whole thing in a sitting. Absolutely mesmerizing and terrifying at the same time, and I can't remember a better acted and written series than this in recent times. It does such an excellent job of drawing you into the horror of what was playing out, largely in slow motion. Seeing what happened, it's like a nightmare that you can't wake up from. You see both the heroism of the responders and the absolute corruption of the bureaucrats that led to the disaster, and I think you get a real feel for how big of an impact this single event really had on not only Soviet history, but world history.
This is what a TV series should aspire to be.

That story about the pregnant women and the firefighter is true. It’s talked about in Voices of Chernobyl book which is full of several different accounts from Chernobyl. Frankly, it’s actually more heart breaking in the book as it’s an actual transcription from a women who has literally lost everything.

i learned so much from Chernobyl the series, and it was very entertaining. it brought a level of suspense and film anxiety i have rarely experienced before. the enemy was literally invisible. it’s malevolence was so indirect, and even the cause of its animosity was really someone else’s doing. great, great show.

While I think it was A+ keep in mind critics grades depend on what the film is and what it is trying to accomplish. You can give Infinity War an A+ because for a superhero movie it is at the top of its genre. Chernobyl gets an A because it is nearly perfect but it resides in a realm of top tier film vis-a-vis historical dramas. An A+ biology paper shouldn't be compared with an A+ english essay.

Here is the google summary of the show
When two children go missing in a small German town, its sinful past is exposed along with the double lives and fractured relationships that exist among four families as they search for the kids. The mystery-drama series introduces an intricate puzzle filled with twists that includes a web of curious characters, all of whom have a connection to the town's troubled history -- whether they know it or not. The story includes supernatural elements that tie back to the same town in 1986. "Dark" represents the first German original series produced for Netflix.

For me this series is an A+, it struck me in every episode, the direction, the acting, the cinematography, the script... everything is so well put and I’m still at awe how perfect it felt. It’s so powerful that I don’t know if I could watch it again, after everything you went through with the characters and having he burden of knowledge, especially during the first episode... this is an intense ride!

I thought that the second season was not going to be as good as the first one, but ended up exceeding it in quality. Such a wonderful and original show.

Why is everyone requesting this in the comments? It's been out for a while so I wouldn't expect so many comments for a show that isn't that popular/known. Has a new season finished airing or something?

Hands down, one of my favourite series. It’s dark, gritty and chilling. Scary how many mistakes were made because of pride, but also the shear number of people willing to sacrifice themselves. Really incredible writing, acting and filming.

Do DARK on Netflix next! It has really a really engaging story with complex time travel paradoxes but is always driven by character actions. It's f**king amazing!

I was planning on watching this mini series, but I didn't have the opportunity yet. As soon as Chris said 'spoiler alert' I clicked away and watched the whole series in one sitting. Glad I did, it's an amazing series that gives the viewer an idea of what went wrong and how to prevent it in the future. During the credits I was literaly tearing up, so sad and yet so beautiful
