- It’s no secret that Arthur Streeton is a major influence on my work, so today, down on the Hawkesbury, I hope to do justice to one of his favourite views.

Another gem, Colley. Thanks for sharing your brush-wiping / cleaning method. I’ve been doing the same recently, mostly using one brush except when I need to get a really clean sky and might switch to a clean brush. I was feeling guilty or a bit lazy for not separating brushes better. So it’s great to get ‘permission’ from a master to keep marching on! Thanks!!
Thanks Jeff, I’m thrilled that you enjoyed this video, Alex and I are having heaps of fun creating them.
Your simplification of a complex scene is a great lesson. Wish I could do it as well.
I believe, Pencil Drawing and small 6’’x 8’’ quick, time limited Still life exercises have helped me learn what’s truly necessary to create my paintings. Thanks for watching.
Thanks Colley.
Ça paraît tellement facile, comme le musicien qui effleure à peine les cordes de sa guitare, j'aime beaucoup, vous êtes mon influencer 👍😉👐
Thank you.
It is like magic to the untrained, so your proselytizing power inspires the potential artist as you stand before a scene and orchestrate your vision onto canvas. An art ambassador for the next generation. And you capture the beauty of the light.
Thanks Kenneth, My main ambition is to inspire artists and viewers with my paintings. Thanks for watching.
loved watching , as always.. i love hearing the thought processes even more.. little gems to remember .. thanks so much, colley.. Norakag , here 👍
Glad you enjoyed.
Appreciate seeing your economy of brushwork and mark making. The light fills this painting. Thanks for posting these videos and the voice over to explain your thinking and process!!
Glad you took something away from it.
Looks great! I am guilty as charged of comparing my painting to the subject matter, something to work on. I wonder if any of the farmsteds their originate from Streetons time.
Hi David, there use to be a couple of old buildings a few years ago, it’s harder to see if they’re still there, through the increased overgrowth of trees. Thanks for watching.
:ove your paintings but you need to include a full frame shot at the end so we can all get a better view of the final product.
Thanks for the comment John. In future, we’ll definitely keep that in mind.
Love your work
What is the medium you are using in this painting Colley. Great picture as usual.
Thanks, the medium that I use is Archival Oils Lean Medium (Fast Drying)
Your videos are always an inspiration and a great source of your experiential knowledge. Thanks Colley Whisson. May I ask how you usually respond to friendly "interrupters"?
I try to be as patient as possible and I’d like to think I’m getting better at switching my concentration on and off. As I’m roaming the world I feel as though I’m an unofficial ambassador for the Art world and I’d hate to give painters a bad name.
