    Wait isn't multifilament supposed to be MORE POWERFUL than polyesters?

    • @HougieBOOM
      @HougieBOOM 3 месяца назад +2

      No inherent power from a multi will ever make up for the loss of swing speed and power from your swing when using a multi. Poly is all about being able to swing confidently and untethered as long as you have the technique and enough velocity.

    • @rcyc
      @rcyc 3 месяца назад

      He doesn't know what he talking about. Just cos the coaches he plays with uses poly doesn't mean he has to. He is a recreational player, they are not!

    • @glademaster
      @glademaster 3 месяца назад +1

      People typically swing faster when hitting with poly and the snap-back adds spin so the shots end up heavier

      💯A multi like Head Velocity MLT has a good deal more power/pop compared to any poly, it's very evident. Either this specific string has less power or these guys are losing their minds.

    It depends on the tensions. A 52 multi/syn is different than a 52 poly. Try 57 multi/syn. Its about control and putting more spin when you are trying to hit harder on a multi/syn.

    multifilaments are definitely more powerful.

    This viewpoint goes against what every other reviewer says. A multi like Head Velocity MLP has more power than any poly on the market and it's very evident. Maybe this specific "experimental string" is the exception, but both these guys seemed to suggest that multi's have less power. Don't know what they are smoking.

      @leftyspinn 3 месяца назад +1

      Yeah theyre definitely confused. Think they dont realise the difference between swing speed and ball speed. They are probably too scared to swing hard with multi because they will hit the fences because the string has more power than poly.

    @kylem.4114 3 месяца назад +3

    Multi has way more feel and direct power. Launch angle is much lower and spin must be generated. So, its all about swing path. If you're hitting extreme spin technique, multi will often land short or fly long if not timed well. Just shows that "power" means different things to different people. Multi provides more pace less rpm. That's power in my book.

    Wow... who knew poly is the power option? Thanks for contributing to the contradicting cesspool that is youtube.

    Agreed. Multi in a vcore I bought second hand off of ebay had much more power than the polyester strings I use. Multi had way more spring/power as you would expect! 😂

    Due to arm issues, I've been playing with Head Velocity MLT 16 gauge in the natural color for a while now and really, really like it. It's comfortable and I get lots of spin and decent power for my level of play. Yes, it's an adjustment using a multi string but it reminds me a bit of natural gut. It also does not have that harsh sound that poly strings have when you hit the ball. If you are having difficulty getting used to the spring-y feeling of a multi then just go a couple of pounds tighter with your string tension. As for comfort vs. a poly string, there is no comparison. My joints and tendons LOVE multifilament strings.

      Super under rated comment, the comfort is another level while not losing that much imo, triax in mains with a nylon in crosses is a great combo

  • @StephanBerenschot

    Make sure to string multi 20% lower then poly. If you don't use it straight from stringrr. Otherwise tension will be much higher on multi. As it doesn't lose to tension. Compared to poly.
    So a old poly will have waaay more power then a fresh multi... But comparing 50 lbs multi vs 30 lbs poly

    Hahaha I'm the inverse of that. Been an awfull time since I played tennis, around 20 years, and got back to it this year and had to relearn strings. I string my rackets myself, and was flabergasted on how f*** stiff those co-poly strings are. I used to play with multi string (Prince Topspin) strung at 70 pounds. The first time I strung a co-poly was at 65 pounds.... It was so freaking dead!

  • @mmllittle
    @mmllittle 3 месяца назад

    Agree. Weirdest thing I have seen. Thought poly was more dead in general to keep ball in the court for big swingers. Makes sense on spin kick but barely getting ball over the net with short balls... Yeah twilight zone vid

    Try stringing multi at 45. Can still swing full out but more ball pocketing for spin and power.

    Trick him for a next test stringing at very low tension with his usual string and not mentioning it to him previously.

    While I always appreciate your videos and insights, this video is a bit out of the ordinary. First of, which string has been uses? Second and far more important, why make sort of a mockery of the multi? Many juniors are also watching your videos and would now go like " oh multis are BS and I want more speed and power of the pollys". I as an adult get it how you meant the commentary on this video but younger people may not. So please always try to address the issues for juniors if they would use a poll ot hybrid to early. That is having responsibility. Thanks for all your effort

    Multi is more more powerful than poly! Gut/Multi/Synthetic/Poly. Poly at the bottom, behind kevlar obviously, but I havent used that in 20+ years. Multi feel amazing and if you had the spin potential of a poly, many would be using it! I serve cannons with BiPhase (by my standards 😅)

    I had the same experience recently trying a multi - way less power and bite compared to my normal polys, which really surprised me (not the bite part). I tried them side by side, and obvious difference to me.

    There are softer polys to deal with arm issue. Last I used synthetic gut was around 2010. I just love Hyper-G these days.
