- Welcome to Open Fire, where we explore the various ways different cultures cook over live fire, as our host Cara Nicoletti, a fourth-generation butcher, learns the craft, practice, and philosophy of each dish. In this episode, Cara visits chef David Shim of COTE, a Korean-American steakhouse in New York City that serves a steak omakase that features A5 Wagyu, a 45-day aged rib-eye, and a 100-day aged steak, as well as marinated short ribs and more.

this was just such a quality interview/food video in every way. chef knowledge, activity, cuisine. it was all on point.
I was literally going through the comments to find this so that I didn't have to write it myself. Could not agree more.
Cote is high end Korean restaurant. She is lucky to have one of the two executive chefs host her. The owner of this restaurant is very detail oriented.
... one of the two chefs* '(plural, no apostrphe)
"you feel it?"
"yeah i feel it"
"its so differant"
"this is not what your used to"
"no, now im going to do this at home".
my mans going in.
Great host for the show. Knowledgable but humble and charming too.
She's a certified chef and food book author.
Bro she ate with chopsticks and fingers
A steak omakase is something I haven't heard of, but now I must have.

Sausage afterwards
Gave her that new meat she ain't never had before
They enjoyed a bowl of sausage and clams
Ewww guys HES MARRIED
Best discovery while eating at a Korean steakhouse; the kimchi (pickled fermented cabbage) goes great with steak; it's a great palate cleanser and the pickle flavor is an excellent contrast with the beef; try it!
also great for digestion!
This host is progressing nicely, she has a soothing voice
soothing like vicks
I don't think they know it yet but that was their first date.

Learned so much from this interview. Great description on the smell and texture for those of us who haven't tried it before.
"You can really taste the funkyness of the funk on this dry aged funk. Especially when the funky funk gets funked into funking all funking day. Add a little extra funk to the funk and funk funk funk funk."
Let me seeeee that funnnk, baby, that funk fu fu funk 😂

Really interesting! I will watch this again. Thanks!
What a great host, never interupt the chef and never use the word "Funky" too much
She has chemistry with all of her guests. Men, women...everyone falls a little in love with her.
Love these types of restaurants! Dayum I'm getting hangry for some steak! Arrrggghhh
that plate of meat on the side of the table makes me go feral
Haha 😂, mad respect to the camera man
COTE is awesome! loved it when the wife and I got a change to go their
Chef and host are super smart!

🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm dying in bed watching this 😤😩
the word of the day is "funky"..
funky this , funky that ... funky funky everywhere
I always hear great things of COTE. i wanna go!!
She's one of my new favorites. She isn't that chick screaming about someone appropriating her culture's food. She genuinely enjoyed that experience. Holy sh!t those cuts of beef tho.
I can surely eat a lot but manage that meal *I SURE WOULD TRY* fabulous cooking ... OH YES.... big like..
How much did this experience cost or was it only done for the video? I'm sure a lot of people would be interested to go through this with a knowing Chef.
$125 for the omakase. $55 for the butchers feast which is 4 cuts.
@@Munchies no way its that cheap
Damn you, its 1 in the morning and now I'm hungry ?
YEEEEESS!!! MY HOMEGIRL CARAAA!!!!
As a HUGE fan of barbecue, I am SO EXCITED that I found this series! Great episode!
love cara, great host
There’s so much sexual tension in this video
Oh Cara Nicoletti, you make everything better! You laughing while eating meat is amazing.
Listen from 4:07 with your eyes closed
I love Cara. Also this would be a dope date. Really get to know someone while cooking.
I got goosebumps.
I can feel my wallet twitching
One of the best food videos!
Excellent!
Cara is such a good host 🙌🙌
I'm gonna still be hungry after the date
Simon Kim said "stop flirting and get back to work!"
If you need someone to help you guys with that third plate, please let me know!
This is beautiful
That bothered me so bad😂
Hopefully, that was for the person filming...
Come to Oz. There are plenty of places you can cook your own steaks...don’t know if the cuts are the same quality though.
I love how they actually cook 3 of each piece and leave the 3rd on a plate so the poor camera guy can eat afterwards.
I actually had to stay and watch it all
Damn the carbon footprint of this. I want it
13:17 the moment she got overexcited :)
Sounds great!
Love the host
Drool 🤤 oh wow everything looks fantastic
That’s why wagyu done on teppanyaki to avoid over burned
This is the real BBQ experience.
That an amazing chef
Omakase is not the same thing is a tasting menu...this is just a tasting menu, that doesn't change ever....

Shes really redeeming herself. More of these kinds of content from her please.

That Wagyu tho wowww
Damn. I am hungry
Okay. Let's jump into omakase bandwagon ! Chinese Korean Italian Mediterranean cuisine all you name it !!
Chef lowkey hitting on the host
Like reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally lowkey. Felt natural af
The way she described the meat... “tastes like a roasted watermelon”
“Tastes like buttered popcorn”
I don’t think she’s ever had those foods lmfao
I want to do this for my birthday.
A real master of their craft! Interesting they don't rest the meat though?
This was awesome! How much would that cost to order and have at this restaurant?
