Do you ever step yor frog rod up to like a 7'6"-7'9"H of XH in thick cheese mats or heavy pads...??? Love your modifications for thick mats..... will definitey try that...!!!
If you can get away with it and not break it than I would keep using 40. I don’t want to risk 40 because in cases where I don’t retie or use it more than a couple days I run the risk of breaking off. Can’t afford that in a tournament situation. 50 gives me room for error and still won’t break if that makes sense.
Frog fishing is time consuming but they have a great way of getting fish attention so I can be a different fisherman for just the moment but I would like to say is your favorite way to get the frog to hesitate to look realistic, and be injured and curious, try to adjust the presentation big brother money, money money duane Alfred thomas Cleveland Ohio
Nice explanation, and more in depth than other videos on frog mods. At first I was thinking, “ok, this is gonna be the same ol, same ol”… so I’m thankful that you shared some further mods and explained them. Another good mod I got from Jacob Powroznik at the Bassmaster Classic this year was taking braid and wrapping the frog hook where the hook shafts come together. Wrap them tight and put a bit of superglue on the braid. It keeps those hooks from moving and separating on the hook set or when fighting the fish , everything’s more solid and tougher to throw. Anyway, thanks for the vid… its a good one !
New Sub here. Really enjoyed this video. I love fishing Frogs! Nothing like the blowup’s you get when using a Frog.😁 As for adding weights, does the Frog have a tendency to roll when crossing over thick mats/lily pads? I’m guessing it doesn’t. 😉
Helped 💪

I use a 1/16 tungsten sinker in my mat frogs and the tungsten thuds against the hooks inside the body.
