  • Trying out my latest acquisition that converts my Guitar to a sophisticated Roland Synthesizer. Not sure If I will return this and stay simply acoustic or take this to the limits that I dont know yet.... Every single note is produced live thro' the Guitar. The GR20 is on the floor manipulated by the foot. GK3 is MIDI pickup that isolates each string sound as an input to GR20.

No issue with the arch, I used velcro to attach, no holes drilled, 1 to 2 mm from bridge, 10-15 minute work. All the best

Anvanho - The GK3 is not a midi pickup but rather an analog hex pickup, providing 6 buffered signals to the GR20, GR55, VG99 or whatever. These processors digitise the 6 analog signals for the processor which generates a midi output as well as the COSM modelling and PCM synthesis.

@nesiansoulallstars there is a very small screw in the middle of GK-3 pick-up, you can adjust the radius & the height(both change together) , with a very tiny screw driver provided in your GK-3 package

Thanks for posting this. I'm still a bit unclear one one issue: I have a large midi studio setup already; can I install the GK-3 on my acoustic and then run midi from it to my MOTU Midi Express MIDI (8x8) interface, (which then re-routes out to my modules)? Or to state it a simpler way: Would I still need the GR 20 as well? Thanks so much, for an info!

smnewthtrblnmnd With any of the Roland GR products you need a GK pick up or one like it. You can purchase a guitar with one in it already but they tend to be very high end. The reason I know this is I have been looking at these for a few months now and can only find the GR-20 used. I asked around about the P/U also. Just a note, In my opinion I think the GR-20 is the best out of all the MIDI or SYNTHESIZER effect pedals that Roland has to offer. So you can look on E-BAY or G/C there are a few.
