Agreement could not be reached on power sharing in the Guteng Legislature between DA and ANC by 2 July 2024. During a show on SABC News, posted on online on 3/7/2024, Zille suggested that ‘…based on the national “Statement of Intent DA was ‘…entitled to an equal share… of representation…, in the Guteng Legislature and Executive, and, she accused the ANC of “…not wanting to negotiate a power-sharing agreement …DA expected to get 5 out of 11 seats… in the Executive, while ANC would get 6… We are almost equal partners in Gauteng, and we have the right to be treated as such… Instead …ANC took 8 out of 11 and offered us 3…They wanted to continue in full control… They wanted to offer us a few positions and that isn’t the will of the voters … DA is only slightly smaller than ANC in Gauteng…We did not pull out of the negotiations, the ANC acted unilaterally…DA will not prop up ANC in Gauteng… and decided instead …to take up seats in opposition…’ By the numbers, ANC’s 28 seats in the GL, plus DA’s 22 seats, plus IFP 1 seat, equal 51 out of 80 seats. However, 80- 22-1 is equal to 57 seats for non-DA parties. The question is, which is proportionately greater when applied to the 11 Guteng Executive positions, and which is more inclusive? ANC’s 28, plus DA’s 22 plus IFP 1 seat out of 80 or non-DA 57 seats out of 80. Zille insisted that ‘…will of voters, proportionality, and inclusion are the right national GNU principles that should also apply in the provinces. And yet, while she still demanded that they should apply in Guteng…’, glaringly, she did not care that they were not applied in KZN, why not? There is no similar understanding on power sharing in the provinces, compared to the GNU at the national level. There is no justification for failure to apply these principles at both national level and in the provinces such as in KZN and Guteng regarding EFF and MK, and the people who support EFF and MK will easily see the injustice, the hypocrisy, and the contemptible arrogance. ‘Will of Voters’ say MK must lead a coalition with its significant bloc of 45% share of votes in KZN. What happened to the rights of those voters? ‘Will of Voters’ also say that 78% non-DA voters want non-DA rule in Guteng, so why does DA insist on ANC-DA coalition and why does DA insist on its rights to the exclusion of others. ‘Proportionality’ and ‘inclusion’ say that since in Guteng non-DA parties got 78% of votes, then smaller parties minus IFP got 19 Seats. This number, plus ANC’s 28 seats equals 47 seats out of 80 in the GL. This is also proportional. Therefore, out of 11 executive positions non-DA representation is correctly “entitled” to 7 out of the 11 positions Hmmm! DA has no case. Helen Zille’s principles of will of people, proportionality, and inclusion says all three were already dishonored in KZN. This case is closed. Instead of applying her high principles, there is low behaviour applying a principle of selective exclusion, and no equal application of any principle of “will of voters”, “proportionality” or “inclusion”. Indeed, what applied during the weeks prior to, and since the elections of 29th May 2024 is selective vindictiveness, selective exclusion, no proportionality, and gross miscarriage of justice regarding the most sacred doctrine of REPRESENTATION DERIVING FROM “WILL OF VOTERS”. All her principles were violated against indigenous Africans who support the MK and EFF. Therefore, the best predictor of present and future behaviour is past behaviour. Shocking hypocrisy among some Africans defy commonsense. Therefore, those who consider themselves indigenous Africans must face the reckoning, and ask themselves which principle do they live by and intend to live by in Africa, or do they just intend to exist in the world like wild fruit? Those who support the EFF and MK must be prepared to confront this grave matter of principles for social coexistence and answer the question. They might begin by reminding themselves of certain truths. One is that many in the DA who stand behind Helen Zille’s high principle are a living memory, since many who were born in 1990-1993 during the last three years of apartheid are 30-34 years old. Therefore, those who are alive and between 45-80 years old that supported the NP /DA were in households and would have been aware of the extreme practices of apartheid in South Africa. This means that Helen Zille and Pieter Groenewald both lived in families who prosecuted or witnessed prosecution of some of the worst abuses of apartheid, yet these people who walk free in South Africa today were never shown the same callousness, the shameless intolerance, vindictiveness, and disrespect which was shown to the people in the MK and EFF. This propensity to tolerance and sympathy towards some, compared to the extreme callousness, intolerance, and vindictiveness towards one’s brothers partially explains why all Africans are at the bottom of the world. Note history lessons well. People do not rise as individuals, rather, they rise as groups and nations, and only people in unified groups rise together. We, the Children of Africa, have very short memories. Therefore, Children of Africa, take heed the lessons of history, lest you continue to perish at the bottom of the world, because you get ‘leaders’ who have no commonsense, never mind wisdom.
