Actually, Robin says that she asked him prior to the interview to talk about Rihanna and he agreed. She told him which questions were coming. David Kinney there’s two sides of the story. He says in an interview how she was hitting him first while he was driving, over something I don’t remember. Of course he should have handled the situation differently, but if that was the case she also should’ve controlled herself until they got home not while he’s driving in the middle of the road. Both of them were too young and immature to say the least but at least they’re both at peace now. Regardless, he came on the show to talk about his album not his personal life

@Grym actually depression can make you get irritable, which can possibly lead to angry outbursts, then violence. I got depression myself, so trust me, I know what depression is like. But ya see, the thing about Chris Brown's depression is that his depression is a part of his bipolar disorder, which involves mania. And with this combination of symptoms of mania and depression, it can make a person hella angry cause of his/her irritability. So yeah, when you got untreated bipolar disorder (which you can clearly see in this video), a lot of people are gonna make assumptions and just say stupid and harsh things, but nobody realized that he (Brown) had his bipolar disorder untreated that whole time until March of 2014, when a rehab facility found out why Brown would often have violent outbursts.
He FLIPPED OUT after this interview. Almost rightfully so in my opinion.

He might as well get used to it. He could be in the entertainment industry for decades, married with kids and he will still be asked about this situation like it was yesterday.
Not to mention in the years since, he has had other incidents that indicate his anger & rage problems are part & parcel of a bigger problem. Just when it seems he has gotten his act together, he makes the news with another blow-up that puts him back to where he started.
Plus, many fans & musicgoers do not have memories as short as people think. When someone who did something terrible attempts to get back in the public's good graces, someone is going to remind them of what that person did & their minds will go to that, not to the person's new product or if they have changed their ways. One negative incident is too many for some people.

I've always been team CB but dang. This ain't the move right here. I was much younger when this aired. Looking back at it, I get why people are slow to forgive him even now. He made an album "forgiving all my enemies" as if he was the victim in the domestic violence situation with Rihanna, as if everyone hated him unjustifiably. Taking full responsibility would have been a better way to handle things. Even tho Robin Roberts was bringing it up when he clearly wasn't prepared to answer those questions, he could have humbly said how sorry he was and that he's not that person anymore. Instead he went straight to the angry button. I guess some people get angry easily especially when someone embarrasses them. But even if I gave CB a pass for this interview, in a later one, he says that "old girl", (Rihanna) would have no one else to go to that was better than him. Then there's the more recent documentary where, again, he plays the victim as he tells his side of the story. He makes it seem like he hit her and then stopped himself out of shock. No Chris. You beat the daylights out of her. He also seemed to be making the effort to place some of the blame on Rihanna by giving details of how she hit him and spit blood in his face. The whole thing is still pretty disturbing. To know that she even went back to him after all this shows how broken he really left her and that he likely made her feel like he was the best she could ever have. Welp. That didn't age well. Because in 2023, she seems happier than ever with ASAP. She's a mom. Her business ventures are crazy successful. SHE'S A BILLIONAIRE. And the biggest flex in this situation is that she has forgiven him. Whew! That's major growth.
But you should really learn about the situation before commenting cause you don’t know a lot it sounds like. For 1. He didn’t put hands on Rihanna first, she kept hitting and grabbing his downstairs area while he was driving and wouldn’t stop hitting him…at that point even as a female I can’t blame the dude for reacting the girl shouldn’t be stupid enough hitting a man that’s stronger than her. For 2. He did take responsibility even when he didn’t start it or have to and CHRIS turned himself in and didn’t wanna press any charges or have Rih get in any trouble because he felt like he was a monster his mom dated when he was younger who abused his mom and made him terrified and he hated himself after seeing what he did to Rih. For 3, MA basically ambushed him and before the show he said he didn’t wanna talk about that situation and just focus on the music and they said okay and decided to talk about the situation anyways so of course he was pissed. It’s been over 15 years since the situation and I’m sure people have done worst or have more things to worry about but judging someone before knowing the whole story and not believing they can grow up and change from being 18-19 years old is just flat out wrong. The fact that Rihanna was able to forgive him right after and get back together with him but strangers can’t forgive him is crazy. Chris really is a humbled sweet nice dude in real life.

What i suspect happened behind the scene was that his publicist didnt provide producers with a list of what he can and cant be asked...nor do i think this interview would have taken place had he done that.....i do, however, think they went into this thinking that Robin made Chris believe she liked him and was on his side & rooting for his success.. .but as soon as the cameras rolled and she put her journalist hat, she simply asked the questions everyone (at that time) prob wanted to know ...eventually insulting Chris, downing his mood & immediately putting him on the defense.
Had she waited till the end and closing out with the salaciousness, she prob wuldve faired much, MUCH, better. But she chose not to.
OR she sensed the interview was going left from the jump and wuld prob end quickly so instead of being used as JUST a vehicle for increased album sales, perhaps she, as kindly as poss dived instanteneously into the rihannna scandal and whether or not the lifting of the retraining order has led to him and riri crossing paths/bettered their relationship POST beating.

The way she yelled out FAME says a lot about her intentions and knowing she is instigating a situation. She's white motivated by media and is trying to push Chris's buttons after getting back on his feet. But Chris should also expect the criticism because that's also a test for him and he clearly has not healed from it and was a big deal.
