    Babe was incredible. As I understand it he and Wild Bill became really close in the years after WW2. As Shifty said they knew each other better than they knew their wives, sisters and brothers. RIP Babe & Don.

    This is the beauty of great friendship and comradeship. 65 years pass and you just pick up right where you left off, as if no time at all has gone by in between.

      We owe so much to all the men from all the countries who served their countries throughout WWII. So many gave their lives so we could have our future. Not many of the veterans are left, not many of the children of the veterans are left.
      Most didn’t talk about what they did or the friends they lost. My father didn’t say much to me. I remember asking how he could speak German he replied he learnt in Germany. Mum told me it was during the war. I had relatives fighting in Burma, Africa and on the beaches of Normandy. When did we find out, at their funerals when the Royal British Legion stood guard.
      My children know very little as we didn’t have the information to give.
      We need series like Band of Brothers and Pacific to show future generations.
      What’s also needed is other countries men being recognised for their service.
      I know we have the war films, however sometimes they are not historically correct.

Pour que cessent les tortures, les meurtres ainsi que les outrages..Et vous avez réussi. Vous les enfants venu de si loin êtes devenu en quelques heures seulement de véritables Lions acharnés(impensable!inimaginable!).

      They all showed up after Babe and Don had arrived. if I remember right, it was approximately 30 minutes, and they were all glad to see Ed, after all it had been 63 years.
      I Couldn't get the one on one like I did with Ed, with the rest of the guys, but we do have this event in which they gladly shared their stories and I'm grateful to have been given the opportunity to record them.

    At 68 years of age,i am alive because of men like these. My Dear Mother Grace Liddy,being from Gypsy stock would have never survived the Nazi`s if they had invaded Gt Britain. Yes, a sobering thought knowing I and my Brother would have never been born.My Children and Grand Children would`ve never existed and that is a fact. Freedom to live must never be taken for granted,because a great price was paid in order that we alive have it. They were all Heroes, one and all. BB

    how could they be strangers after they connected so much during war? Maybe because they wanted to forget everything? I was connected ( apparently not in the same way) with some soldiers of my company when i joined the army and we went through all that harsh training together. Now (i didnt want to remember any of this) i havent seen them since then.

      @CplFattig  3 года назад +2

      You're right, the Easy Company did have reunions over the decades after they came home. Ed didn't attend any of the reunions because of his wife's views on the War and Ed respected that.
      After she had passed, this was his first reunion he had attended and he enjoyed being with, and spending time with his fellow warriors and talking about their exploits during the War. For Ed, this was the first reunion he attended.
