Only Sean would color coordinate with the guitar... XD
4 to 5 a Billion seems a skosh high,
cause my collection of teen beat magazines is hovering around 3 billion....
And that has Shawn Cassidy in it.
Title should be This is the Most Confusing music theory vid ever. Love the Easter pastel look though.
Trying to dress for the occasion
My "Mexican" Martin is still my favorite, 3 years running. It's affordable and with Elixir 12's instead of the Retro 13's, it makes me want to play. I guess that''s the point....
I love Mexican guitars. They were making guitars long before America existed, they do a fine job imo.
After you start to understand a bit of music theory, you start to realize the chord on the fifth scale degree is more important than the root because generally harmony is sort of like bouncing back and forth between two sounds. The dominant chord is like shoving you back towards the root or starting point.
If you go down the rabbit hole you can also use dominant chords in a bunch of other places to "steer" the song towards other sounds.
I rarely felt the need to STOP you, sometimes tried to SLOW you down adjusting the video speed, but since that did alter the tone, I just sped up with time. Greetings from Deutschland :)!
I keep hearing “nationwide is on your side” during that a major scale 😎
Heading out for a gig in an hour ! Thanks for the vid.
Best of luck!
Most artist I follow know a little theory, but come up with song ideas from jamming around and trying things out. Its not hard to learn the chords, there all moveable and can be transposed in seconds. Also you can just use the major or minor pentatonic scale add notes to it and get different sounds you like by ear. That's how most people come up with leads and riffs. but fun and interesting video thanks for posting. I never even though of this concept. Your videos are very entertaining, especially the ones with dovydas.
I've always been confused about the naming of Maj7/Dom7/7th chords....whatever. And always made me so confused I can never remember what chord is what. Unfortunately your explanations confused me further lol but, fortunately, now I have another way of looking at those chords so I have some work to do. Thanks for that at least.
Also I always enjoy your salty comments of the week and this salty comment tops them all. Thanks for the laughs!
Love your videos!
I found Sean's explanation almost made things worse, too. LOL. FYI a Dom7 and a "7 chord" are one and the same chord (just two different names). It's a flatted 7. A Maj7 is not flatted (it's called "Maj" because it's in the major scale) and it's so named to avoid confusion with a Dom7. Hope that helps.
@@ronlight7013 Yes that helps. Thanks
Thank you for the music theory lesson. Very helpful! I thought the guitar sounded great!!
That tele is really. Sweet
My personal opinion on music theory is that it can be useful but it should never be the main focus of writing music, plenty of great songwriters and guitar players don’t understand music theory so you don’t really need it.
While true it helps get to the 'correct' answer far quicker. I would say it's super important if you are improvising in a more complex genre like jazz. Imagine trying to follow along as the piano player re-harmonizes a standard. That being said-theory is not an end in itself, which I think is your point.
@@peterthart531 but that why most people don’t like jazz too much it’s hard to listen too if your a metal head or a rocker. And theory helps like you said but it’s not necessary in rock and metal.

"wie gut das man den abstellen kann" = "It's great that you can turn it off" The video that is... there's no way to stop Sean Daniel. 😄
Unstoppable!
Happy belated birthday!
Been a while since we've seen the bluejeans-caster, always wondered if you pick a guitar to match your outfit or if you pick a guitar then dress accordingly?
Signal Sound Studio was the one who made the 7th BS to make sense.
Every 7th chord, the 7 is flat by default, and maj7 only ever applies to the 7 itself.
I got lost real quick 😂
is that the guitar your mom painted for you ?
you should use it more often, maybe her Bday and def Moms Day!
...
juss sayin
If so that is cool mom as heck
Nice bro ♥️♥️♥️👍👍👍
None of this makes any sense to me, but I do understand music theory!
Yes, the naming drives me nuts. I just gave up and know this shape is this cord, now leave me alone.
I’m dizzy, so the 1 is married to the 3 and have 5 children and 7 puppies unless the feed cable is….. nevermind I go get a beer! Ps. My order of elixir strings came in for my new fesley, which came in pretty good shape. Cya. John.
Wait until they hear about the minmaj7 chord. 🤓
Yeah. Confusing because in A maj 7, maj refers to 7, whereas in A min 7, the min refers to both 3 and 7. Dominant 7 is maj 3 and minor 7, and Dom refers to the root of that chord, which is 5. And my thumb is an inch. Good night.
Thank you for not wearing that hat backwards.
Thriving on the salty comments
If you were not confused before.. lol
Let me give a balanced view of this video.. I believe it contains very valuable information.. But, in an attempt to make it sound more "Meat and Potatoes" , and less talky (which is a very criticised form of video).... It is delivered FAR too quickly to digest properly, and therefore sadly risks losing the valuable message.. LOVE the Jerry Reed look though..x
