It's China (I can tell the difference in the written language, Chinese always looks more complicated) and there are a lot of poor areas in China. If you can't do this yourself it costs money to have someone do it for you and, well, there's a vicious cycle to that if you're a farmer who has a bad season.

I have been keeping ponies for many years. As I was interested in hoof care I bought an education manual edited for farrier-apprentices. Some few pictures are there of deformed or neglected hooves, but you can`t compare them to the RUclips-ones of the Far-East.
The people who come on here and criticize these folks for the tools or methods they use are unbelievably arrogant. These people use what little they have to try to improve the lives of neglected and abandoned animals. That deserves the most praise and appreciation. So thank you! 🙏🏼

I think if the owners took better care and had the ferrier out every few months they would know what to expect and not be so scared. But there scared and in pain because the owner doesn't take right care. Hope he decides to do better. Hope you guys go back and check.
These donkeys in the videos are just used for their skins to make ejio or meat. In one of the videos, the hooves were appallingly long & the owner said the weight of the hooves added to the weight of the animal, therefore more money! It makes me so cross that they only know a slap, whip or angry voices, then they wonder why they won't stand still! Only good result is that they get some relief in their miserable lives.
When I worked caring for horses we were trained in many things like hoof care. THIS kind of neglect is inexcusable. These animals are very lucky to have someone who can correct the problems.
They are slapping the poor creature for not being still. They are saying the animal likes to kick people. Disgusting attitudes! At least they are helping its feet. Now they need to work on properly training the animal for easy handling, especially its feet.

It’s amazing how uncalculated the layers are hacked off for an animal which has been so badly neglected. Who knows how that coffin bone has moved around and lawrdy I cringe while trying to be respectful of their way of doing things. He did make it look more respectable and hats off for him sticking with that hoof as it tried to shake him off!🫡

Farriers in other countries often don't have access to modern tools and they do any amazing and fantastic job on the animals with the tools they have. They are nowhere near the coffin bone in any of these cases. Most of that length of hoof is heel, not toe.... Take a close look while they show the bottom of the hoof...
Plus the fact the reason this donkey is combative is because he's probably never had his hooves done. Not because he's in pain from the trim or the method of trimming.
It was a hard job to do but congrats you got it finished. This donkey is fortunate, his hooves look better after trimming than most of the donkeys in these videos. He has good feet with no disease in them.
It was hard to get it done but thank god the man stuck with it and made a big diffrence ..he done a brilliant difference to the donkeys feet least he can walk properly ..it was sore i think at first because the hoofs were far to over grown but when the man got the first few slices done it made it a lot easyer to slice the hoofs properly well done sir ❤

The farrier was very patient and like the way he used his knife. I have not seen it done like this but it great to see how they do it in other countries.

They are not being cruel. They need the donkey to hold still so that they DON'T hurt him. One bad cut from the tools that they are using could cause even more suffering. I'm suspecting from the title that this particular donkey hasn't been interacting with humans for a long time. Thus he isn't used to being held to have his feet done. Equines are prey animals that use running away to stay safe. They cannot run if they have one foot being held up, so their natural instinct is to try to get away. How is he to know that the farrier is trying to help him and not harm him? I've witnessed tame horses fighting to get their feet back during trims much worse that this little guy. I'm impressed with the way he is being handled. With the way the donkey is kicking, the farrier could get severely injured. They're not hitting him although they are holding his ears to help control him. Would you be willing to get under this donkey to trim his feet knowing that you could get badly injured in the process or seriously hurting the donkey with a slip of the tools while he's trying to get away?
