- Hello and welcome. Today we take a look at the @KorthArms Mongoose (Combat) in .357 Magnum AND 9mm. Imported from Germany by @NighthawkCustomFirearms , it is in my opinion the best (if not top 2) revolvers made today. I've featured some amazing firearms in my channel, but this one blew me away. The Korth and Manurhin revolvers from Europe are impeccable craftsmanship. Thomas Spohr is also a rising name, dual cylinders.
Willi Korth developed great pistol engineering concepts. Buy quality and you will not have regrets. Great video.

That revolver is outstanding! As a Southpaw, the cylinder release seems far more intuitive and most likely, far easier to access for us wrong handed folks. Nothing has been missed in its design, including a 9mm cylinder, too. Enjoy it! 👍👍

I’m a big fan of revolvers…after I got my hands on my first Korth I was shocked. They are amazing. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a Skyhawk and it has become my absolute favorite gun.
People complaining about the price saying “What can this do that my smith and Wesson can’t?” Are the same people who buy Wilson combats at 3-5000$ instead of a Tisas🤷🏻♂️. If you don’t want it, don’t buy it, if you can’t afford it, so you bash the price, don’t buy it. High end stuff is exactly that, higher end stuff. Why have a Ferrari when a Honda civic does the same thing?? It applies to every consumer product.

Those "little gold beads" help extract the 9mm casing.
Very nice presentation and revolver. I'd heard of several of the features on other videos but it was cool that you spent time going over everything close up. I have half a dozen old school pinned and recessed S&W's, and am about to buy a new Colt Python (or Anaconda). It's great to see how good a revolver can get when no expense is spared. Maybe some day...

While at a LGS earlier this year I bought my 1'st Korth. It was the 2020 version of your revolver that had a S&W type cylinder release, skeletonized hammer (which I prefer),combat rear sight, and the fitted 9mm cylinder. I did a couple RUclips videos with it, nowhere as detailed or as high quality as yours. Since then I bought a 3" version (my favorite), a 4" 44 magnum and an early 1971 Sport in 22 Magnum/22 LR. Nighthawk Custom does in fact service and work on these revolvers. My 22 Magnum was experiencing light strikes and is at Nighthawk right now getting adjusted. The Mongoose is the name NH gave to the entry level Korth, WHY, the mongoose is of course the fearless snake killer. A couple points about the 9mm cylinder, first off it is an engineering marvel that functions beautifully without moon clips. Second the revolver is just as accurate in 9mm as it is in 38/357. I attribute this feat to the polygonal rifling in the barrel. The dual cylinder is the only way to go IMO, talk about practical as you can probably find 9mm ammunition anywhere in the world. The only other revolver that comes close to the Korth IMO is the Manurhin MR73, as for the Sporh I've yet to see one in person. Thanks for a superb video on a revolver that has to be held and shot to be truly appreciated. Some will balk at the price but to those of us that own one its worth every penny. Quite simply it is the Rolex of revolvers.

I have had mine at Olathe, KS gun shop for over 6mos... It is a brand new never fired 4" .357 Magnum and I can't get it sold. If people knew about these incredible revolvers they would surely want to have one of them as part of their collection. These .357's are truly the ROLEX of hand guns!!!

Where did you order your mr73 from? I have the 5.25 for a couple years now and it’s my prized possession, however I really wish I chose the 4 inch version so I’m looking around. Although this Korth is throwing a curveball now lol
I'm looking forward to the follow up video. Just think the 'h' isn't there, it's hard to stick with Kort(h). Your first Kort(h) was spot on. The Nill grips you'll get, get over the 'i' quickly and stick longer on the L's, like saying 'Nil' for nothing. Not easy to avoid any Neal like pronunciation. If you like something nice to compare this Korth too, try the latest club30 offering, idk who sells them state side, but in Germany you have to go through a Club30 member to order one. That goes back to gunsmiths that were heavily focused on S&W's and Colt tuning and they set their own standards and made their own. There should be a nice video from the last IWA of them. Those two are probably the best one can buy. I'm also interested in that full stainless british target model of the rhino revolvers that fire from the bottom of the cylinder changing the felt recoil drastically. The regular rhino's from Chiappa (Ki-appa) are aluminum frames.

Edit: Is it worth it? Sure. My 4” Colt Python is pretty slick, and my S&W 686+ is awfully nice as well. The beauty of the S&W revolvers is parts availability. Colt does not provide a single part to the end user, not even a sideplate screw! The Korth is obviously just like the Colt in this department, and I’m wondering if Nighthawk works on the Korth’s internals, or do they send it back to Germany.

What would go wrong with revolver? I have a lot of them, some have 30.000+ rounds trough them...never saw one go wrong. So chance for Korth to go puff is so low that I think Nighthawk dont have anybody that knows anything about revolvers.

One of the super interesting things about the Korth revolver is when you listen to the owner of Nighthawk Custom talk about them. He discusses the procedure that Nighthawk goes through when a Korth revolver arrives at the shop. The end result of that discussion is that Nighthawk Custom has their name on it also and the revolver must meet the standards of the Nighthawk Custom brand. .45 Colt is not ideal in a double action revolver due to its relatively small rim, which can cause the extractor star to slip past the rim during extraction. It doesn’t happen often, but the old Colt is definitely more comfortable in single-action revolvers.

Finally somebody who pronounces the brand name right. Puzzles me why he then pronounces Willy korths name the wrong way again !
Well let me un-puzzle you. I never knew what the correct pronunciation was until I filmed this video. For years I’ve been pronouncing it wrong. I tried to make a conscious effort to pronounce it correctly throughout the video but I obviously failed a couple of times.
@@MDpolo I appreciate the effort though. Even in a official Korth video a English speaking German gunsmith is pronouncing it wrong 😹 I guess it’s difficult for a native English speaking person to omit the h after the t. And maybe even Korth doesn’t mind much how it’s pronounced and is happy that they can be sold in the US. What I do mind though is how nighthawk is giving everybody the impression that they are involved in the design and manufacturing of Korth revolvers. I’m glad you point out this issue . Nighthawk , as an importer, is obliged to put their name on the products and they abuse this obligation for commercial reasons! Have a great day and keep up with the nice videos

But i honestly wonder....how "Good" are these guns REALLY??? Sure they look A"different" and some more work has been done which is vivible. But would this Korth really "shoot better" than a DW 715 revolver?? lso one with interchangeable cyclinders and even barrels...A no MIM part revolver...would the typical shooter really notice the differene when shooting??? :) Or could someone be buying into the "sauce"? :) The hype...?? :))
At the end of the day "good shooting" isnm't magic....spending $50000 on a gun wonm't magically turn any recreational shooter into a "master-class shooter". :) At least I don't believe so...maybe I'm worng :)))) wink...

Lol....eeeemmm...take a novice shooter..give him my Taurus raging hunter 357. Ultra heavy crappy dual action pull. Omg!! Worst trigger pull on any revolver ever. 17 lb pull. And you want to tell me that novice shooter will not notice the differnce between Korth and Taurus? I bet you that novice shooter can not hit a building from 25 yard in double action with my Taurus. You see Taurus guns are like lotery tickets...you never know what you get.

I'm not rich at all, poor as dirt. Yet, the only revolver I am buying, is a Korth. I'm just going to spend this next year to save up for it. Its not overpriced at all, this Revolver will easily last 500+ years in your family and become an heirloom that your grandkids will praise you for acquiring. Colt/Smith are absolutely awful in comparison, both with design, functionality, as well as customer service which is almost non existent in comparison to Korth.
Quite expensive yes, but they are extremely well build in both endurance and precision.
I don't think the gun is overpriced at all, but $1,300 for that 9mm attachment is definitely a bit extreme if you ask me..

I cannot bad mouth it. Amazing revolver I am sure. I have the classic Smith and Wessons and Rugers but that doesn't mean that these European firearms are not amazing.
