You can do it!! I’d hardly picked up a book since before college. I made it my goal to read 10 books this year and I read 22! You won’t regret getting back to reading ❤
not allowing myself to buy more books before i finish some of the ones i already have so watching this will be torture in the best way possible hahah ❤
I've got back into reading this year after struggling for many years (like 15?) to stay focused on any book. I used to devour books when I was small and was an avid reader as a teenager. I've been going through all your book vids and noting down any suggestions that call to me - I have quite an extensive list so far! I've read 8 books since the end of January and have just finished Hot Milk, which I loved! Thanks for the ASMR and also for the suggestions! I feel like you've unknowingly supported me back into being a reader :)
2023 was one of my slowest reading years (also got married 😂) but hopefully 2024 will make up for it… either way I love book ASMR for when I can’t pickup my own book and yours are the best!!!
Some of these definitely went on my tbr! I had quite a few favorites this year but one of the best was kitchens of the great Midwest. Highly recommend! I also read terrace story (based on you mentioning it in a video) and enjoyed it a lot! Both books have funky, weaving timelines which was very cool
Thanks! I have an old video that's all of my lipsticks (maybe "lipstick collection" or something like that?) and I more or less use the same ones still 😊
Mauve reminding all of us to set a reading goal for 2024 😁 In all seriousness, your reviews made me want to get back into reading and helped me a lot this year! ❤❤
You’ve expanded my reading horizons so much and introduced me to so many interesting books that I otherwise wouldn’t have found or thought to read. I love your videos ❤
Ok wild I just happen to have an identical edition of The Memory Police right next to me as I listen to you talk about it, guess it just got pushed to the top of my to-read list. I loved her book Revenge, which is kind of a novel disguised as a short story collection.
These all sound amazing. I want to buy Two Cities and The Creative Way for my best friend for Christmas and maybe even All About Love (if she hasn’t read any of them yet 🤞). Definitely want to read all of these as well. Thanks for the awesome recs!
@@MauveASMR She's half Italian, spent a few years living in Italy, and I already wanted to gift her some poetry, so I'm sure Two Cities will be perfect!
Congrats! I’m getting married this year too. My favorite read of last year was Project Hail Mary. I reread all the Harry Potter books recently and someone recommended A Darker Shade of Magic. I’m like 50% in and I’m not sure if I like it. I feel like HP is a tough act to follow.
I’ve read 14 and a half books last year ( feels weird to say "last year" !) and while there are people on booktube that have read sooo much more, I still feel accomplished because 1) There were some thickkk books I’ve picked up this year, one being a brandon sanderson book ( The first book in the mistborn trilogy) and 2) It’s the year I have actually challenged myself to read more and not just say that I will & procrastinate. For some reason i just had this anxiety about reading. I guess it’s because there’s this expectation on readers to read super hard, prestigious ~classics~, but also read the newest releases and or trending books, but also read *more* than 10 books a month, which in my opinion at least is so incredibly unrealistic when you have school or work or wtv to do, and I also don’t like how there’s this humongous focus on the number of books you’ve read when there’s some books that are like 800 pages and others merely 200, how can you even put these in the same category? Both can be a fun time, but yk obviously the longer one will take sooo much longer!!
anyway sorry for the long ramble, but I just can’t stand how unrealistic booktube can be, yk? This vid will make my tbr soo much longer, but that’s just how it goes 😭🤭
Yes -- very unrealistic! I agree, the point is enjoying it 😊 For me that's baths, mugs of tea, sitting outside, reading in a different chair, picking up an entirely new book from an entirely new writer, rereading something I already know I love, reading something my friend loves so we can share it, etc. Wishing you a year full of enjoyable reading 💜💜
I’m curious how you find the books you read - I feel like you feature a lot of under-heard books (or maybe I’m just not up to date enough on the best reads!) Love your book videos, I appreciate the recommendations and relaxation :)
Thanks! I find them through browsing book stores, gift stores, used book stores, and always taking a really good look at staff recommendations. Sometimes from friends, too
And once I find a writer I like, I tend to read other books by them. Also sometimes writers you like mention other books that they like in their acknowledgements / footnotes etc, so I always check that out too
I stopped reading books back in high school, so my goal is definitely to read at least one book a month next year! I always love your suggestions ✨

how is it going?❤

AHhhh Hot Milk is so good -- I'm thrilled that you loved it! Also welcome back to reading 🤗📚💜

Ah that sounds great! "Funky weaving timelines" is like an automatic read for me! 💜
Loved this video, could you do a makeup tour lol or something like that, I love your lip color choices and would love some recommendations!

Aw thanks! I'm so glad to hear that! 💜📚
Not me, doing dishes and guessing out loud “The Creative Act”!! You nailed that intro. It’s on my best of list too!!
The creative act really is awesome. Highly recommend the audiobook as it’s actually read by Rick Rubin.
monday is my favourite day of the week 🥰 (even though these come out on a tuesday for me!)
hope you're doing well too 💗
So happy all about love made the list. Everything bell hooks wrote is great but that one is special
Perfect timing, so relaxing 😍💤
Your book videos are the best! ❤❤ My favorite books of the year were Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier and The Go-Between by L.P. Hartley for sure.
Ok wild I just happen to have an identical edition of The Memory Police right next to me as I listen to you talk about it, guess it just got pushed to the top of my to-read list. I loved her book Revenge, which is kind of a novel disguised as a short story collection.
Revenge is really fun! I want to reread The Diving Pool now too
u convinced me from the first book to start reading again !!
Ahh I'm so glad!! 😇
Mauve keep going and creating great content😀 your videos are so good and I love to watch your videos💕

Yaaaaay, it's Mauve Monday!
I love hearing about books! I need to read more. Hope you have a happy holiday!
Happy holidays to you too! 💌🌲
I had Brass Monkey in my head right before you started talking about it. so weird haha. Adding all of these books to my TBR list ❤❤
This is so relaxing, but also I want to read all of these 👀

Haha you called it! I'm a Cap through and through 😎
Off topic, but was there shredded coconut at the wedding? 🎉
Sadly there was not! But who's to say whether I went home and ate some right after
