Bless you this video was amazing! Totally fixed the issue with the grinder lever becoming detached, and saved the time and cost to pay a repairman. When popping the lid off just be careful of sharp edges as i cut my finger on it.

Thank you thank you thank you. The grinder was detached. I could not move to the remove line anymore and no clicks. It was a bit challenging to remove the "hood" but I was able to follow the instructions. It worked!!!! Last time it happened I mailed my machine to delonghi for repair thanks to you I was able to fix it myself. Thanks again
Thanks very much for your extremely helpful video! My La Specialista jammed when a foreign object got wedged in the grinder, and whilst I could carefully whittle the object away and eventually remove it, the top burr couldn't be removed for cleaning. I then noticed that the adjustment dial wasn't making any difference, and couldn't be adjusted lower than a setting of '3'. After watching your video a few times I had the instructions, visualised process and confidence to remove the top plate, reseat the post into the adjustment dial, release the top burr for cleaning, and reassemble back to new. I can't say 'thanks' enough!
Thank you so much. We followed this step by step and fixed the grinder!!! DeLonghi support recommended we either take the unit 3 hours away to a service center, or get a new machine. Not helpful at all and this is an expensive item! But so appreciate your fix -- it really worked.

Thank you so much!! This solved my issue! I had a rock jammed in the burr and the burr wouldn't release. I disconnected the grinder spinner, popped off the top, reset it and jostled it around enough to allow the burr to come out. Thank you!!
You saved my life lol. I've had this machine 8 months and they aren't cheap so naturally I was bummed my grinder wasn't working. In fact, even the low bean light wouldn't come on. I popped the top & cleaning it out, did a few spins, reattached it and the grinder started again!! Even though it's under warranty, I need my espresso daily :)
Thank you! Very helpful. I see that RED BROWN WHITE is in fact the correct order of the hopper wires. In your other video, the wire pattern is different on the same model I believe. Therefore the beam sensor works fine but the grind will not when this wire pattern is incorrect. I’ve been watching your video a lot and it’s helping to save a lot of $. Thanks again

The 'trap door' in front the hopper reveals a hole that was jammed up with sooooo much fine ground coffee! Cleaning this out fixed it for me but unfortunately I didn't see the connection until I disassembled first. At any rate, my machine is working again after making some god awful sounds this morning. Many thanks!!! Make sure to leave the fine/course grinding selection in the same position otherwise it will be off when you reassemble (like I did lol).

Awesome video! Thanks! Mine started to struggle on a grind and the quit. It plugged up on its way to the dispenser. I cleaned it out as best as I could put wondered if there is a better way to clean it out? I thought maybe a pipe cleaner in the output hole towards the hopper, I didn’t think of a vacuum and that would most likely clean that part our, but what about the space between the hopper and the output of the grind dispenser?

Hi Uiloc I do like Lavazza blends and if you can get it in your area Trucillio espresso roast. Try a finer grind for more extraction and the perfect creme

Thanks for posting it. I had a problem that the motor was running but no ground coffee was dispensed. I used your technique to open the burr and clean the front void/duct that passes the ground coffee to the stamper by using a kabob stick.
Thank you so much I have managed to successfully disassembled my machine. Now I cannot find the right part I need. I’m gonna replace the pump and the part that goes right on top of the pump but I cannot find it. It’s the one with the metal cap attached to it. Looks like of valve. Please help me find it.

Great information - my machine does not grind when moving the portafilter to the right. The Smart Tamping handle does not go all the way back - it stays in the upright position., and the grinding light does not go on. I can push it back to start the grinding but it is very difficult and takes a huge amount of pressure. There is a triangle guide on the Smart Tamping handle that does not move either. Any ideas? Thank you
By the way, I had 2 water leaks in mine. One under the tank since the silicon ripped and one in the back and around the gasket where the coffee comes out. The latter created a leak also INSIDE the machine a bit I believe and I used food grade silicone to tighten the seal and repair a hole on the small gasket by the water tank. Here’s hoping! I will find out tomorrow if this attempt at a fix actually worked
I've been scouring the internet for over 8 hours. Trying to figure out what's wrong with my machine that I just got today 😭 The grinder does not function and the tamp and warning light flash simultaneously. I can't find any info in the manual or on the internet anywhere. I even bought the full disassembly guide to see if you had info in there that could help me. The lower burr is rusted and the selection gears were stuck together with calcium deposits upon opening the box. I got the selection dial gears moving but still can't get the grinder to function.

Hi there. I have had an ongoing issue with my grinder. Periodically, usually every couple of months, the grinder won`t grind. I can hear the micro switch `click` but no grinding. The last two times I have noticed it coincides with the beans light not working. I do al the usual cleaning etc, but with an empty hopper or even hopper not locked in, the beans light isn`t illuminating. The two issues, I think, are somehow linked. DeLonghi just give me the generic list of things to check, but to no avail. Oddly, it just gets over it`s hick up and starts to work again. Have you ever uncounted such a problem?
Hi! I’m hoping you have some advice.. my La specialists is right down to the finest grind setting and the coffee still isn’t fine enough. It also seems like the dosing is wrong in that it always overfills, even when on the lowest dose setting (with the correct size basket:dose selected) I’m hoping for my caffeine addiction you can help 🙏

Hi Stefan, Unfortunately Delonghi hasn't addressed this yet. Most everyone seem to grind on setting 2 or 1 to get a nice extraction and quality espresso.

Hi, good video. I have problems after descaling, I still have the descaling icon and only the option to get hot water... I have no option for coffee and the ok button does nothing (not white). How can I fix this? Thank you very much
Hi, Once you start a descale you have to finish the descale and follow until the end. A lot of users make these two mistakes 1 they are impatient- the machine will run its program and will need you at intervals to fill the tank or rinse the tank also press the buttons to the next cycle. If you press OK and water comes out at intervals then you are still in descale mode and should let the machine do its work 2 a lot of times users start the descale a second time without realizing it. I suggest you have the manual out while you descale so you can visualize the steps and what the machine is telling you to do. Be patient it will end. Coffee Grump
Thanks a lot for the videos, they are very useful! I have a problem though that it seems it hasn’t been covered: an external object apparently felt in my coffe grinder, blocking it. I cleaned it and removed the external object but it still not grinding anymore. I assume that some gear teeth have been damaged but i can’t have access to it, do you have any video/tip about it? With mine the knob to adjust the amount of coffee didn't work properly. After 3 (three!) "repairs" they still didn't get it right. I finally got a replacement machine, the newest (upgraded) model. Works fine now. To be honest: I'd never buy the same machine again. I'd buy a machine with a separate grinder.
Sorry to hear so much trouble @pter, I'm glad to hear you were upgraded. DeLonghi units are very repairable and shouldn't have taken 3 tries unfortunately Coffee Grump
Watched your vid, very clear explanation, thanks for that. I followed the procedure of cleaning the grinder. Did cleaning with brush and vacuum cleaner, also used to long brush to wipe the chute opening and coffee funnel opening the push door on top of the machine. After thoroughly cleaning all, put back the burr. Checked if the dial worked as supposed, hearing clicking sound, you can see the burr pushed down if you set the grinder dial to 2~3 fine. Installed the hopper and filled it with coffee beans. In using it again I noticed the grinder does give less coffee in the cup filter then usual. Not coarse though as you mentioned in your video, just fine corresponding the dial setting. Even if I put the quantity dial at max it is not filling the cup filter enough. What should I do to get that right?
@@LoekHagen thanks for responding. After doing some resarch on the issue i believe it could be the burr itself not sharp enough after only 10 months of use. I am still under Warranty so i will be sending it in. Will reply on here what the outcome was.
I removed the burr for cleaning, but it didn't seat back into position well. The ring would get stiff with just a half turn back to grind. Now it doesn't work. It was working fine before I was instructed to clean the burr. What happened?

Hi, my hopper is not locking in after removing it and sits loose after cleaning out the burr, no damage to hopper, everything installed back properly, vacuumed, etc. Could you advise please? The bean light is flashing. Can’t Google anyone else with that issue

Thanks for these instructions. My hopper/bean light was staying on. I believe this fixed the issue allowing me to rotate fully to “Remove”.

I have problems after descaling, I still have the descaling icon and only the option to get hot water... I have no option for coffee and the ok button does nothing (not white). How can I fix this?

Hi, Once you start a descale you have to finish the descale and follow until the end. A lot of users make these two mistakes
1 they are impatient- the machine will run its program and will need you at intervals to fill the tank or rinse the tank also press the buttons to the next cycle. If you press OK and water comes out at intervals then you are still in descale mode and should let the machine do its work
2 a lot of times users start the descale a second time without realizing it.
I suggest you have the manual out while you descale so you can visualize the steps and what the machine is telling you to do. Be patient it will end.

I have a problem though that it seems it hasn’t been covered: an external object apparently felt in my coffe grinder, blocking it.
I cleaned it and removed the external object but it still not grinding anymore.
I assume that some gear teeth have been damaged but i can’t have access to it, do you have any video/tip about it?

With mine the knob to adjust the amount of coffee didn't work properly. After 3 (three!) "repairs" they still didn't get it right. I finally got a replacement machine, the newest (upgraded) model. Works fine now. To be honest: I'd never buy the same machine again. I'd buy a machine with a separate grinder.
Sorry to hear so much trouble @pter, I'm glad to hear you were upgraded. DeLonghi units are very repairable and shouldn't have taken 3 tries unfortunately

Watched your vid, very clear explanation, thanks for that. I followed the procedure of cleaning the grinder. Did cleaning with brush and vacuum cleaner, also used to long brush to wipe the chute opening and coffee funnel opening the push door on top of the machine. After thoroughly cleaning all, put back the burr. Checked if the dial worked as supposed, hearing clicking sound, you can see the burr pushed down if you set the grinder dial to 2~3 fine. Installed the hopper and filled it with coffee beans. In using it again I noticed the grinder does give less coffee in the cup filter then usual. Not coarse though as you mentioned in your video, just fine corresponding the dial setting. Even if I put the quantity dial at max it is not filling the cup filter enough. What should I do to get that right?

@@LoekHagen thanks for responding. After doing some resarch on the issue i believe it could be the burr itself not sharp enough after only 10 months of use. I am still under Warranty so i will be sending it in. Will reply on here what the outcome was.

I removed the burr for cleaning, but it didn't seat back into position well. The ring would get stiff with just a half turn back to grind. Now it doesn't work. It was working fine before I was instructed to clean the burr. What happened?

Hi, my hopper is not locking in after removing it and sits loose after cleaning out the burr, no damage to hopper, everything installed back properly, vacuumed, etc. Could you advise please? The bean light is flashing. Can’t Google anyone else with that issue
