For those who didn't know, after leaving Casiopea, Minoru Mukaiya (the keyboardist) ended up composing some of the melodies that Tokyo Metro uses to indicate that a train is leaving. If you ever find yourself riding the subway in Tokyo, listen closely - you might hear some of that Casiopea influence in some of those chimes!
@JuIianRock I mean you can tell by listening to it, but if you want a specific example: listen to this song and think about whether or not it's familiar ruclips.net/video/-2la3MlJx3s/видео.html this video is a pretty good one about the influences and inspirations of Nintendo composer Koji Kondo ruclips.net/video/dBNJ5cAxcQ8/видео.html
@JuIianRock I mean you can hear the influence if you're familiar with both sounds. But you can probably find nintendo composers' influence through interviews and stuff. It's pretty well known that jazz was still heavily influential in Japan as a premier genre even in the 80s which has affected the sound of all the pop music in japan since the post-war era when american sailors brought the influence of jazz to the country. I think what makes this most obvious is that nintendo music of the 70s/80s is literally the genre fusion jazz and fusion jazz in Japan was known primarily through japanese acts T-Sqaure and Casiopea and American acts like Weather Report and Return to Forever.
I found out about them about six months ago from a video essay talking about city pop and prog rock from Japan during the 70s and 80s. They were showcased a lot and I instantly fell in love with their sound. They're absolute beasts on their instruments, that's for sure.
I love their current bassist as well as tetsuo. I do like the more groove based lines as well as his tone from tetsuo, but yoshihiro is a reeeal showman. Dude has some immaculate chops
That bass solo was completely out of this world. I have not seen anything like it. I would say it stole the show but the other solos were absolutely bang on as well.
I thought something was extra funky about the bass, and I noticed that it actually has 8 friggin strings lmao They look to be configured as pairs, some I’m guessing they’re tuned in octaves That just makes this performance even more insane
Their original bassist Tetsuo Sakurai was (and still is) so mindblowingly talented, funky, a great showman and overall legendary musician. This meant that Narucho (the guy in this video) pretty much had no other option than to bring things to the next level with 8-string bass, a whammy bar and hyper energetic stage antics to stand out and I gotta admit he somewhat managed to reach a legendary status in his own quirky way.
--How many workstations do you need, Mukaiya-san? --Hai! --You know you can play the same workstation with more than one controller, right? -- I. DON'T. CARE.
I don't understand why people just sit there, clapping their hands like it's a school concert. If I were them, I'd go completely mad, especially at the drum and bass solo!
Many of them are probably over 50yrs old. Japanese can also be hyper aware of other people around them, in concerts sometimes you're supposed to sit and sometimes you're allowed to stand. Sometimes people are told to sit down and in the last songs it's socially accepted to stand and dance to encore.
So the electric guitar was slapped and the bass was shredded ... I love this
FACTS its amazing
Looks like its an interesting (unusual but epic) way to play a bass and a guitar.
They both slapped the shit out of their respective instruments
@@loganhueske2427Exactly.
@@loganhueske2427Welp, all we can do is pray for the health of all instruments.

That's awesome
Now he also plays in the Katsushika Trio along with Sakurai and Jinbo!
@@steffomca762 Katsushika Trio is amazing, i can imagine them getting popular very fast
@@jvdrumming8859i hope so, but probably it will end up being successful only in Japan because it's much more "local" than Casiopea itself
@steffomca762 yeah thats true.. they definitely won't be doing huge concerts and world tour either sadly 😭
The best reunion in music history
this would absolutely SLAP on a marokart track
Would make sense, a lot of Nintendo's music was influenced by the music of fusion bands like Casiopea and T-Square
I legit thought this was from mk8 when I first heard it
Mario Kart Casiopea edition.

Dude beat that bass guitar like it owed him money JFC.
All four of these dudes are Musical MONSTERS!!
The bit where the band comes in at 3:57 sounds so good
saw a snippit of the bass solo in another video so had to find the whole video. These guys are amazing! Hope they're still doing well 20 years later

@Thehotdogman I don't, unfortunately. You can try looking up Japanese guitarists. He had a video on a guitarist, and the guy has a surfboard guitar

Crazy!
Naruse killed it, damn. How could someone be so energic at 53? I'm struggling to realise that now this man has reached his 70s
At 53, is not old, especially an artist.
Way more metal than other versions of this I've heard. Great that there are so many different versions to choose from!
something about japanese music feels so revitalising
YES
This fills me with so much joy. Im glad to have discovered this.
This band just seems like the most fun band to be a part of. I want to play with them
