The problem with Bezos, is that he's a selfish businessman, a moneymaker, not a visionary. He tried to patent reusable rocket technology, so other companies would not use it. He stole many engineers from SpaceX, but wanting to have the best workers is kind of understandable. Jeff is probably the type of man, who does something just to be better than everybody else at it, and that's why, in my opinion, SpaceX's success will be greater than Blue Origins's.
This is why Bezos will be successful in this endeavour. Money gets things done and the desire to make money will mean bigger investments. Throughout history it is a rare thing for a visionary to actually be successful. Even Tesla himself ended up penniless.
Jeff and Elon have different philosophies regarding space missions. Elon wants to colonize Mars and make it habitable. He's thinking about humanity. Jeff wants to commercialize space travel. He's thinking of making more money. Of course, we'll live outside our planet very soon, and thanks to Bezos. But, to make human a true Interplanetary Species we'll thank Elon for that. ❤️ the video.
Blue Origen has some remarkable capabilities, but the statement in point 11 that the New Shepard is the fist rocket powered system is incorrect. There were at least two reusable rocket systems in the past, not counting the Space Shuttle, one as an operational system. The DC-X, a SSTO low speed demonstration vehicle in the 1990's and the Me163, a rocket powered manned interceptor, built and fielded in the closing months of WWII.

Recruiter told me this was a "senior level" job and that the company did not have job levels like SDE1, SDE2, etc. Job turned out to be entry level. Also turned out there was a hierarchy and management decided I was at the bottom of it. Managers tried to enforce this hierarchy, so I quit due to misrepresentation of the job. Culture is rooted in conservative pre-internet times where people wash their boss's car every Saturday and worried about losing their job. Work was ultra-mundane spring/java stuff. No software projects will ever make revenue at this company and are at best ancillary to the progress of the company. I quit after two months of fighting with very arrogant people whose attitudes were far, far ahead of their experience and qualifications. Like going back to high school after grad school.

if the journey lasts 40 minutes, it's suborbital - just go up and then fall down, that's not going into orbit. what's with all the "might" launch space tourism this year from space entrepreneurs? let's see the first company to have put people in Earth orbit, meaning a complete loop around Earth, not say 'we're working on it'

Well, he looks more like Dr. Evil than Musk does but if I'm going to place my bet on who's rocket gets to the moon first and starts building Moon Base Alpha, it's going to be Musk. Space X has already shown that they can orbit and that they can land their primary stages. Once they figure out how to land the center stage of the Heavy this is going to be a done deal. By the end of this year, Dragon 2 will be man rated. It's a pretty short stretch to imagine launching a lunar lander/escape module to orbit the moon and then launch the lunar trans lunar injection module/return module in low earth orbit for a rendezvous as part of a 3 part moon landing mission.

We went to the moon but did not return. We put up space stations and stayed there for many years. Still needed to be supplied from earth. Being self sufficient in space will surely be a major undertaking. Maybe Mars provides some natural resources to work with. On a space station all you have is what you bring yourself. I think we will learn by doing both.
That didn´t age well. Now in 2021, BO is finally going to launch tourists on a 15 minutes long joyride to the edge of space - while Spacex is already flying astronauts to the ISS. And while BO´s New Glenn is at least 1 year away from its maiden flight, Spacex is already testing prototypes of a much more capable and cheaper rocket, which also got selected by NASA to land astronauts on the moon, beating BO once again. On top of that, quite number of new rocket companies got or will get to orbit before BO, which shows that BO is slow in its development to the point of becomming obsolete. Jeff Bezos on the other hand rather shelled out 500 million bucks for a mega yacht instead of investing it into his vision of humanity´s future. Priorities I guess...
Too bad that Musk and Bezos don't get along with each other because both of them are smart guys with the resources and the motivations to lift our species from our terrestrial cradle and make us an interplanetary, spacefaring, civilization. There is room out there in the solar system for the visions of both of these guys. Space colonies, the moon and Mars. All of these are viable options in the near future, with our eyes on the outer system and ultimately, interstellar exploration to come in a more distant future....
