Recently instead of taking my second finger off I've been putting on the string above. Helps keep the pinkie finger rounded and the grip good so no muddy note on the third string.
I learned barre chords MANY years ago. What a difference it makes! The chord that kills me the most is the open B7. SO many Beatles songs use that one. Also "Bus Stop" uses it. I typically just play a B chord instead.
I've already pretty much mastered the E major bar chord as well as the A major and minor bar chords, and I need to learn the E minor bar for a Dead Milkmen song I'm learning so I guess I'll finally have to tackle this one lol!
Great video Justin!!!!! This reiterated what I’ve been practicing. I’ve been working on doing hammer ons and pull offs during my Barr chords. Having that first finger remaining independently is the key
I've been trying to play Minor Barre Chords for ages. The G string is always muted. My mate who has played guitar for 60 years said 'Have a word with Percy. Percy Verence'.
Hey Justin, no matter how I press the g string down, it doesn’t ring out and when I try to reposition my finger it goes too high or too low. Would there be reason why this is happening?
Im 3 weeks into trying to play this shape and i just cant, press as hard as i can, try 100 different minor adjusts and the g string just buzzes or muted. My thumb hurts and i want to give up
When I play barre chords, it makes my thumb hurt really badly pressing on the back of the neck. Does that go away, or is it because I have bad technique?
That does sound like bas technique - pressing too hard and maybe with poor hand positioning. You are simply lifting the "Johnny Cash finger" :) Thank you for these videos. Been struggeling with these barre chords for ages. Specially when I move around playing B (on A string fret two) and then A (sixth string fret five) for example. All fingers BUT the Johnny Cash finger goes in place directly. That bothers me.
Check your action at the 12 th fret. If over 110 at the 12th fret , that may be causing some or all the problem. Also, suggest if not doing so already, get a hand strengthener . You can also extend your fingers and then retract them to a fist quickly. Repetitions up to 200 per day really help. Usually starting out 20 or 30 might cause some muscle tiredness. As I got older the hand strengthening became more necessary. Good luck.
Thank you so much Justin guitar for helping me with barre cords. I wish I can attend as a class. Can I have your email address please? Do you do private lesson? It's good to learn on line but no one tells me if my practice is good or not.
@@justinguitar do you dvd that I can purchase? Im slow learner due to my forgetful issue. However Im grazy with finger picking style and it helps me training my focus.
Love using barre chords. You say to use simple songs to practice. Why not list a few for us. Ones you think may be beneficial for us. Or am i just being lazy?
You can figure some out yourself! Did you know the song page has a filter where you can select songs based on which chords they use? www.justinguitar.com/songs | LievenDV | JustinGuitar Official Assistant
Great tips Justin! Barre chords definitely tricky for me...but they won't get any better by themselves!🙏🏻
Great guitar teacher in the world this is called honestly with music❤️

I'm getting there but ouch...I got some cramps. Thanks Justin, always devoted 🎶🎶🎶
I am only able to play bar chords by putting my finger too far above (minor chords mostly), so is it no good?

Same. I think it’s the shape of my finger

Hi sir I have a question do you know percussive fingerstyle and percussive strumming can you make a course on it please

Hello!
Minor barre chord is way harder than the major
I can ring out f chord in first fret but it only ring up to G..and then some strings buzz..is this normal or am i doing it wrong?

Check the height of the nut of your guitar

This is all fine, now the A-shape are tough... have to press very hard and get wrist pain after them :(
