I had a saturday job while still at school, washing used cars on a garage forecourt. The manager, Mr Hunt, had a mint 1600E in silver fox, I used to drool over that thing. Very nice work and very jealous 👍

Very nice, I had one in the 70's and put a 3.0litre V6 in for a while. Then rebuilt the 1600 and put it back in. You done a fantastic job. Thanks for sharing

Stunning. As a 17yr old, in 1977, my first car was a '68 1600 Super in Blue Mink. It was only nine years old yet, like all cars in those days, already rotten with the paint flaking. I took it apart and rebuilt it and sprayed it Ford Hawaiian Blue. Four years and several Cortinas later my best was a Diamond White 1600E with a tuned Capri Mk2 V6, manual box and axle, all built by my own hands in a lock-up with 200yd of extension lead.
So wonderful to see the amazing level of detail some now got to on these beautiful cars which are now coming up to 50 years old.

Strange how the first car has a special place in ones heart. I was the proud owner of WTY 170J. Mk2 Cortina, my first car. This video brought a tear to my eye. Oh if only that big back seat could talk.

XLM607G 1968 1600e I bought it in 1978 for 300 quid. The wings wheel arches bonnet and rear door were rotten . Got two new wings, door, bonnet and wheel arches for peanuts and had it repainted with a red pinstripe. Looked a million dollars. Wish I had it now. Sold it for 500 pounds. Wish are still owned all my scooters, motorbikes and cars from my early years. Ironically my toyota diesel would probably blow them all away buts its boring. Incidentally lovely job on the car.

Fabulous 1970s car the equivalent of the Mercedes 190e for luxury and style. Have owned a 1600e and now have 4 190e s. Rog. Pacific sunset records.
