I rode the New Balance wave for the past 2 years. Every 990 and 2002r. These beat all of them by a country mile. I know they are a retro runner but could legit run in these if I forgot my regular running shoes.
These beat the 990s?? You've gotta explain how and which ones you tried.. In my experience these are no where close quality and longevity wise. Comfort wise similar though.
@@ZBrown-sm6gi Yeah I'll admit....quality wise they really can't compare...and I was mostly comparing 990v3 (I think the best one) v4/v5 and 991/992/993. But if I'm running out of the house and know I'll be on my feet for the whole day, I'm choosing the vomeros (supersonics lately) over all the NBs.
Vomero 1s were true marshmallows under your feet. So insanely bouncy and squishy. Nike toned that softness down for the Vomero 2s and the line followed that from there. I would love if they brought the 1s back with the same Cushlon formulation and not what they used in the 2s. Until then, I’m interested in trying a pair of the 5s out one day!
As soon as I put this shoe on my foot. My first thought was I need another pair of these immediately 😮 I have this exact colorway and was ecstatic to get the supersonic colorway also. Honestly top 5 shoe of the year and definitely most wearable shoe of the year. I am hoping I can get the anthracite colorway on sale.
These and Tailwind IV are my personal favourites when it comes to comfort. I wish they’d bring back the Tailwinds in new colorways, too. Also some people are natural forefoot strikers, others midfoot and some heel strikers. There’s not really proper or inproper gait, unless we’re talking performance runners. It depends on an individual’s biomechanics. Vomeros were essentially for Sunday runners and not for performance runners. Running shoe brands take this into account and cater for different gait types with drop, support and cushion in different shoes. The Vomeros in comparison to Pegasus were meant for relaxed 10-20 mile distance runs, where the gait is shorter and tired feet are more prone to heel striking. The drop is 9,6mm and ideal for heel strikers. Forefoot/midfoot strikers should opt for a much lower drop in 0-6mm range. Also the softer rubber adds more traction at the expense of durability, which is needed for takeoffs, uphills, downhills and wet pavement.
Just got these on sale for $99 at the local Shoe Palace. After crushing these and breaking them in after miles from dog walking I am so thrilled to have bought these. Lightweight not too firm not too soft. Buy these now! Perfect for summer!
Looking at these you may think of this as a dad shoe, but suddenly this makes me miss my dad's Air Copious shoe which came out sometime around the 2010s. I loved running in those, even when the Air unit popped since my dad weighed close to 200 lbs when he was losing weight to get back into shape, it gave this air piston cooling effect that I absolutely loved, even if its impractical!
@@ronaldclarke8198 Sorry, updated for context, he needed to lose weight cuz he couldn't stand being fat anymore as he used to be a very fit dude before he started getting me and my siblings, sorry if this made you think he had cancer or something!
The black/sesame suede pair is what she's referring to. Its the only pairs of vomeros I thought actually looked good for casual wear and was able to fine a 14.5W/13M
I love it. I've been contemplating on getting a pair because all I hear is great things on how comfortable they are. I always wondered if you would do a review on these & boom. I'm sold, now the hard part as to which color I want to get. Keep up the great work. Also, have you ever tried on a pair On cloud shoes? Those are another pair I hear great comfort things about.
Got the all black ones from this summer, they’re great! So breezy and lightweight! My first reaction when I started to wear them was like, why aren’t all shoes as comfortable as these?!
I have 2 pair, very very comfortable. More bouncy/plush than NB 1906 (my other dad sneakers), but to me that doesn't automatically make them better. I like both for different scenarios.
These are second most comfy shoes I own. Only a close second to Salomon XT-6, but they def look better. I been eying the the Have a Nike Day pair for awhile
The timing of this video is crazy, mine came in last night and everything you said is pretty much spot on. I threw in a move all day insole and I think it’s better for it, although I was advised not to… gonna give them some time and see
Even though Asics are the best comfort wise, even more so than NB, after buying 3 different Asics pairs that was all defect, I gave up and got these. Back in my day, growing up in the 90’s and 2000’s we considered this type of shoe, a gym shoe. Kinda looked down in as it wasn’t nearly as cool as skating shoes, or platform shoes. I had both.
I need to try out some Vomero’s. I need to but I don’t need to. If I ever start running again I’ll get some Asics. If I want ultimate comfort I pull out my NB 1906d / 2002r or some Adidas ZX. Not sure I have a niche in my collection for these.
Hi, awesome video all always!I believe that black rubber is on the right spot as hard compound because heel and tip of the toes are the first and the last contact between foot and the concrete and there is the most of sliding and rubbing happens. In basketball that would be on the spot's that your're sugesting.
They went over their high wear areas. If the tip and heel of the shoe are hitting the concrete for someone then the wearer is not walking or running with an efficient gait - they’d be dragging their feet one way or the other.
In my opinion the way I see Nike “protro-ing” these shoes or any other of their old school runners is keep everything the same but just replace the foam with React foam
Now im going back to try these. I didn’t run in these back in 2011 I was in brooks and the gel kayanos but now I no longer run I want to try these albeit these are $160
Can’t find them anywhere besides online. But I have to try on In store. My feet are crazy. Jordan 1 and 5s 9 1/2 also adidas superstar. But my adidas nmd and any of my Kobe’s or other shoes all 10.
Tbh at this point I don’t even see a “dad shoe” as a dad shoe. The vomero 5 is a stylish lifestyle shoe. The supersonic colorway is sneaker or the year for me.
I'm a wide and flat footer and I'm looking for a shoe where I don't have to use orthotics from Amazon... Hopefully these will work, because I never get to feel the actual comfort of the shoe, mainly because the narrow arches cut into my forefoot.
I want to hear more about HER shoe choices! I have all the same issues with my wide feet and high instep (plus an old injury) and can never find the right running shoes. Any recs!? Thanks
These have been my silhouette of the year. Started with the first Cobblestone (womens sizing), then Doernbecher, Have A Nike Day and Supersonics 😅
This is the Vast Grey SP originally from 2019. It has upgraded materials, better mesh, leather etc
I literally hopped on RUclips and was about to search for a review on these, until I saw your video at the top of my feed. Crazy coincidence!!

New Balance 2002R is better than the Nike Vomero 5. Even New Balance 530 is a like-for-like replacement too!
Wait you can run in these?
I had the OG Vomero 5's. They were comfy AF. The only problem I had with them is that the black part on the outsole peels off quite easily.

I'm 6-7 pairs deep on Vomero's I'm so happy you guys are on the Vomero Wave now. Comfy is key.
The volmero is having a moment lots of nice colorways dropping. Still like turning to yeezy or new balance for my dad shoes personally.
Facts. If I gotta do it I’m going to do it right. I’m not going for grandparents here.
The ultimate dad shoe as bad boys?
The "Dad Boys" Era has begun, folks
Air max excee is my go to dad shoe, extremely comfortable, looks very similar to a airmax 90, great colorways, easy to clean and affordable.
This has been one of my favorite Nike products ever since they first launched the retro in 2019 and been buying ever since!!! I’m own like 10 pairs.
I remember seeing them in Burlington and Ross in 2018-19 for 50 and regret not picking them up then
These and Tailwind IV are my personal favourites when it comes to comfort. I wish they’d bring back the Tailwinds in new colorways, too.

My shoes all wear at the heel first, I’ll have a perfectly clean upper with minimal creasing but the heel will start shaving uneven

Been wearing these (different colorways) for a year now and keep drawing me back to these
Wore these on my European vacation this summer. Super comfortable for all that walking on cobblestone streets!
I still rock my green/pink ones from a few years back - definitely lightweight/cozy

Yes, this is really good design. So difficult to get them though. Always out of stock in most popular sizes.
I got this same pair delivered to my home yesterday..Excited to wear them!
I have 2 pair, very very comfortable. More bouncy/plush than NB 1906 (my other dad sneakers), but to me that doesn't automatically make them better. I like both for different scenarios.
Was wondering when a pair would get reviewed. Copped the Supersonic and Mystic Blue pairs this year, easily my favorite purchases of 2023.

I own 2 pairs of vomeros and ever since I’ve gotten them, they see the most wear out of all my shoes. They’re stupid comfortable.
these and the NB 990 v6 are some of the most comfy casual shoes out rn
Chris, any opinion on the women’s vomero 5 design by Japan ? With the recent restock I copped a pair. They are my first pair.
Even though Asics are the best comfort wise, even more so than NB, after buying 3 different Asics pairs that was all defect, I gave up and got these. I want a pair... Thanks Chris and Jodi, for the excellent review.......
Thanks for this video cause I’ve been thinking of getting this for a while now.!!!

There's a dark red-ish colorway of these that reminds me of the Mrs Wing colorway of the WeAreUnderdogs shoe
Vomeros are too clean man, I love my SuperSonics I got a few months ago… so comfy 💯
My blue pair is one of my most worn shoes this year, and I’ve only had them for like two months.
I think Mrs. Wing was talking about the Plum eclipse OR wheat grass cacao wow colorways🔥💥👌🏾😁
I wear them to work daily. The all black ones. Very comfortable
I got the black sesame pair and am made I didn’t double up on them when they were sitting. I was them all the time

Looks like the Nike version of the New Balance 990. Good. Every shoe maker needs a 990 type shoe. Comfy shoe
That’s exactly what it is. This silhouette and the Nike p-6000 premium are definitely Nikes response to new balance.
990, always good for those long-standing hours!
Which is good. Everyone should have a shoe that is foot friendly.
Ultimate dad shoe?
I think the Nike Air Monarch
and New Balance 608 would have something to say about that.
Nike Air Monarch 4 is the ultimate dad shoe. Wear them with Khaki pants and Hawaiian shirt and give everyone advice on their golf swing.
In my opinion the way I see Nike “protro-ing” these shoes or any other of their old school runners is keep everything the same but just replace the foam with React foam
Just got mine and I was really impressed with them. My new favorite shoe!
I’m not a Nike fan these days and definitely not a LeBron fan but these are really sharp and comfy maybe even more so than NB 990s or UA Forge 96 lol
Actually used those for outdoor running in 2012, 5 miles daily for 6 months on Chicago streets, excellent comfort
Soo this vomero is good for running?

Love them and since here (France) there’s absolutely no hype for them all the colorways end up on sale which is great
I had to go down an half sz but I love those a lot, I think ive cop 5 this year. I would love for them to do a nike ID
Shoes are amazing. Wear them everyday. Breathable, nice weight and great look
Idk what they call this design but the 2000s Pegasus models had this sorta look too
This is a masterpiece! Most comfy I ever worn
Bought my first pair in Shiekh inside Washington Square Mall in Oregon for $70 and no tax. 😄
Half my closet is full of shoes that you reviewed or recommended these are my next pair!!
A better looking monarchs for the everyday dad shoes!
Most comfortable Nike shoes ever, can tell I’ve hit my 40,s
Look great too

If i seen the dornbecher ones had those cool patches and stuff I would’ve went for them 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
The Ultimate is alive again
I wanted to get myself a dad shoe and this was on my list but I ended up with the New Balance 2002r
So nice review! I just get suscribed
if i want to wear them loosely should i go down a half size? i’m normally a 10 and i have a narrow foot.
I like the panda colorway but I’m still waiting when the price goes drop.
I just ordered my pair based on how much you like them
When will you do the J Balvin 3’s ?
Just got the all blacks in the mail today, my first pair and I have them on right now 🤣🤣🤣
I been eyeing these for a while but Nike only seems to put out the best colorways in women sizes…
So Jodi likes the aesthetics of these New Balancish dad shoes but doesn't like the Answer 5s 😅
Finally got mine! Had to go back to this vid #forthealgorithm
This vs. a yeezy 350 how comfortable
the red colorway reminnds me of the red ranger
And there goes a spike in prices and collabs
Love my SuperSonics
Are the prestos the same tech also? Cause they have the air and the duraron and the bottom looks almost the same
Different tech but the use duralon outsole.
THE Comfiest of shoes PERIOD!!!!!!
Lebron shoes are goated.
P-6000 > Vomero 5 ...sorry Queen James 👑
