they legit have never seen goku training during original dragonball it feels....goku grows as do we during that story..by z hes already flat and by super hes even more flat....he changes others and continues the plot...hes a plot device...his role in original dragonball is what they would enjoy..before many other characters got involved..vegeta is written more interesting but goku is not meant to change and hes a by far better person than vegeta whose a jobber and only changes due to goku and his own pride and shame for not being more like goku..which is his fatal flaw in fights and training...hes the elite nazi whose been pushed down a peg by the low class warrior...he kills innocent people just to fight goku despite knowing boo will be born if they fight he caused cell to become perfect out of pride and hatred of 18 and he even admits to not having hugged trunks once..that dude sucks period..he killed namekians for no reason...he leaves his family too to go train..he can't let his anger at goku being better go..hes regressed as a character...he just exists to be an annoying side character who has some relevance unlike yamcha tenshinhan kururrin and pikkoro..lets be real...

I find it funny they love Vegeta but hate the Buu saga because Super shows that the Buu Saga would never had happened if it wasn't for Vegeta ( Future Trunks confirms this with having stopped Buu from being revived lol).
Pretty sure the whole Dragon Ball IP was created thanks to Akira Toriyama's wife walking in on him watching old Bruce Lee movies and telling him he should make a manga about martial arts. Not even kidding, look it up.

It's hilarious how oblivious some characters are of their own universe, had a genuine laugh when the writers remembered that Goku didn't know what Freeza's first form looked like in the U6 tournament.

Yeah that is one thing about Dragonball I think got lost along the way. I suppose by design it became impossible to make any of the characters who aren't Saiyans anything besides background characters who provide story padding and comedic relief.

I personally think The Tomar Saga is the best one.
Funny enough, Raditz does have other moves named after the days of the week, though not all of them. He skips Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
While I was looking up a list of his moves, I found one called "Maniac Monday." That the Dragonball Moves Wiki says he picked up during his days as a professional wrestler.

I would say the bad thing about the game was the game board for story mode. That's probably the only thing. It was fun at first, but when you realized most of the unlockables depended on revisiting past stories it got annoying.
It's odd they brought it back for FighterZ story mode.

Problem with budokai 2 is that other than introducing a new improved art style it dosint really differentiate itself from the first gameplay wise and the story mode was a massive downgrade

@@vandad13 you right 3 felt like a huge upgrade. But 2 did add things like senzu beans and different capsules and the gameplay was more fluid in my point of view . They also made some moves interactive like kid buus ultimate , I'm not sure if you could push it back or just take less damage but the 2 players and to rotate the joystick and my cousin always won . Kinda cheap and lame but I saw it as a whole different game from 1 .

When I was a kid I started watching DBZ when the end of the cell arc/beginning of the Buu arc were airing on Toonami, and this was the first DBZ game I was exposed too. I hadn't seen the Saiyan/Frieza saga yet so when I played this game I just assumed Raditz and Nappa arriving to earth at the same time and the other weird what if stuff was cannon for a while lol.
I played DBZ: Sagas first, so I assumed Goku beat Vegeta with a Super Spirit Bomb
I loved this game as a kid. I replayed it earlier this year, and I still think it's a neat idea. But.

Anytime I hear Cory I know I'll be in pain from the laughter. Also I played the literal FUCK out of this game as a kid and really enjoyed it. So this is kind of depressing.

@@islandboy9381 i remember I kept failing the first QTE bit where you line up Raditz for the Special Beam Cannon and just got so frustrated I stopped playing. I went back and beat it one go.
After that I played through the rest of the game and kept losing the last fight with Freeza until I got down the combo into special move inputs.
Then I got pissed off with the final fight with Cell and again stopped playing. Took me a while but I finally beat the bastard and got my favorite What If unlocked.
Tien kicked King Kai's ass with his sick jokes in the most epic scene in DBZ history
I'm a really big fan of TV shows like Kamen Rider and Super Sentai so I definitely loved Great Saiyaman for pretty much being a Tokusatsu parody along with the likes of the Ginyu Force
Honestly Saiyaman is just such pure cheese I can't hate it. It's one of those things that in-universe nobody takes seriously so I don't think it makes much sense to hate.
I like Trunk's style of great Saiyaman 3, the suit is awesome to be honest.
I honestly don't see why it bugs them so much.

I think the reason people hate great saiyaman is that Gohan is the wrong character to do it especially after all his development in the cell saga. DBZ fans can clearly handle a goofy power rangers parody because of the Ginyu force but we go from Gohan being the next hero and defender of Earth to goofy jackass playing dress up with his girlfriend.
It's really nice hearing y'all talk about the series and just give your honest opinions on it.
i think what really makes me mad is the whole ascended saiyan ssj 2 and ssj 3 and ssj god ssj blue ssj rose kaioken ssj and ultra instinct bs...like why can't it just be they get ssj and train to be stronger?....why do they need 10 forms?...ssj 4 golden oozaru and all this dumb fusion shit no one cares about...it ruins everything...in the manga/anime a fusion never wins a fight outside of the movies..its so pointless....pikkoro fusing is weird enough but once the kais and saiyans do it yet it means nothing and they still fail, i lost all interest in the story..like in super how ssj blue vegito does nothing to zamasu in super but normal beat up weak low on energy future trunks with a spirit bomb using his sword and like 50 regular people's energy somehow saves the day?..thats so dumb......ultra instinct is stupid but at least its not just called ssj grey or silver...thank god..in theory anyone can learn it not just saiyans..that stuff ruined it...before that the story made sense and was balanced enough...

I actually really like the Buu saga. I know it’s not as narratively tight as the other arcs, I just really liked Vegeta’s character arc & the relationship between Mr. Satan & Buu. Plus, Saiyanman is god tier. It’s probably one of my favourite sagas after the Android/Cell saga.

The way Goku is in super is apparently how Toriyama originally wanted him to be. He has stated his frustrations with how the anime portrayed Goku as he wrote him to be someone who's sole focus was eating and fighting.
That sucks if true.

I remember playing this as a kid, but my favorite childhood Dragon Ball game was Budokai Tenkaichi 3. While it wasn't a very good fighting game, it was a good "Dragon Ball Simulator." You actually got to fly around in a 3d environment and use huge special moves, with a team of characters from pretty much all eras of Dragon Ball. That to me was what DBZ was, and with a kickass soundtrack as well, it cemented itself in my memory as my favorite DBZ game for a long time
I played Tenkaichi 2 tons but I've heard great things about 3.

Tenkaichi 3 should have become the blueprint for future DBZ games. They found a way to make one-on-one fighting feel like Dragon Ball, rather than Street Fighter or Guilty Gear with a Dragon Ball reskin.

I'm not gonna lie: Great Saiyaman Saga is one of my favorite sagas in DBZ. It's really interesting, to me at least, to watch Gohan try to live in this world that he saved but hasn't gotten any credit for saving. I think that DBZ really fell off the deep end once they brought Goku back from the dead. Completely undermines his sacrifice.
completely agreed, we get to see secret identity Gohan, and the slice of life highschool drama with videl is really neat. it actually fits the pacing of the anime a lot better than the fighting arcs.
the anime kept catching up to the manga so they had to stretch like 10 attacks across a whole episode. there's an episode in the frieza saga where goku and frieza just stare and think at each other for the whole episode

@@criticorn663 The fighting system is great and evolved from the first game,the biggest problem here is the boarding game part,that got removed later,and the fact that they didnt make cutscenes anymore. Other than that it's a pretty great game and a very nice evolution from the previous one.
What i'm seeing here in this comment section and video,is just ppl complaning that the game didn't satisfact their own personal opinions and how the game and series is bad because of it,bc it didn't go exactly how they wanted it to. For me is just a bunch of ppl crying bc things didn't go their way.

I’d say the last genuine thing I liked about DBZ was Vegetas whole redemption in the Buu saga.

This dragon ball tl looks amazing:
-Trunks went up to the wrong place with the time machine, which made Nappa land with Raditz on the Earth.
-And Tien travelled with Goku to Alaska to defeat the 'Ginyu' force (which only have 2 members) and Frieza, who already is on the final form

This game was actually my very first exposure to dragon ball z as a kid. I didn't know what was happening but I still loved the game and still do because of the nostalgia.

This was my first ever Dragon Ball game, I loved the show as a kid and was happy as hell to have a game for it. Me and my brother replayed this game over like 6 times over. I look at it now and realize how bad it is in comparison to the other games and the actual show, but I still loved it when I got it as a kid.

I think the perfect ending is Goku going off to train Uub. Another possibility would be if Dende went home and Goku finally became guardian of the earth. I'd even take Gohan for that position.
While GT squandered Uub, it still had a great conclusion. The show improves as it goes on. Dragon Ball Super leads nowhere because we already know how the story ends. That is unless Super changed the ending retroactively.

@@rajaelite2026 I mean, having years of experience with forms of media generally means that you have to compare every experience to every other experience, which in turn creates a natural hierarchy of quality. That's called developing taste. And at some point, you develop a point where the quality of something is below what you're willing to consider acceptable. I'm certainly willing to say Super fails to meet my standards.
Nothing ever really seemed to matter. Earth destroyed by Frieza? Whis undoes it, no biggy. Piccolo dies? Revived off screen because death is trivial. New Saiyan characters get a ton of character development and screen time? Doesn't matter, they're completely irrelevant to the narrative. If you remove them in their entirety, the story barely changes, we just lose some slight character development with Vegeta. And why even care about the characters when the roster is so huge and no one has a personal narrative to follow? What are our characters goals? Why are we rooting for them? Why should we care?
Remember Piccolo's road to redemption? Remember Goku's climb to ascend to the heights of power only spoken of in legend (a power that has since been trivialized)? Remember Gohan's journey to become a man, as Goku passed the torch to him as defender of Earth? Remember Vegeta's realization that his hunger for power and lust to defeat Goku was irrelevant compared to the love he had for his family? Did Super have anything like that? Fuck no it didn't. It's a meaningless string of fights with no stakes and little charm performed by a soulless roster of corpses dragged out of the grave to appeal to people's sense of nostalgia. Super was awful.

Loved this game as a kid (Only had a GameCube, so I never played Budokai 3 back then). I played it again a couple years ago, and yeah, the """story""" mode is very tedious. The core gameplay though had some great improvements over Budokai 1, like being able to fire Kamehameha type moves without doing a full combo. Not to mention the fun fusion characters like Gokule (who had 2 completely different models depending on character outfits) and Tiencha.
I would not say this is a bad game, mediocre, but not bad. If they want to call this game bad just because of a shitty story mode, then that also means FighterZ is bad by those same standards.
That being said, I love OneyPlays and this is no exception. Keep up the funi let's plays, bois.

One thing that's always confused me about Vegeta is why does he still refer to himself as the PRINCE of Saiyans? Technically shouldn't he be the King now (even if there's only like, a half-dozen of them) and Trunks be the new Prince?
He was never properly crowned King, so he's still just the prince. Trunks is also a prince, though.

Yup, when vegeta showed up to the tournament in his corvette it was the most epic moment in the series
Hollow Tim it’s fun and it has nice action and cool moments but a lot of the arc doesn’t amount to much at all in terms of driving to plot forward

This reminds me of Dynasty Warriors Advance for the GBA, except really easy. That game had a map like this with items like permanent upgrades and temporary buffs, except there was little Chinese characters running around that would slap the shit out of you if you engaged in a fight with them. Alternatively, sometimes you could fight an "officer", which was actually a massive meat mountain clad in steel would fucking get you in a 3000x combo and kill you instantly.
I just realized Chris got so mad and screamed so much while they were playing these dragon ball games he started losing his voice near the end

The commentary is how I know they didn't pay attention to Goku in Z...but it still is a fun video.
Goku had fatherly moments and understood that his presence is a constant magnet for villains. He approaches it by trying to get stronger to fight this but acknowledged his failure in not coming back after cell.
Not to knock on Vegeta, he's just as amazing, but it seems a lot of people give Goku less credit than he actually deserved in Z.
Super however is a completely trashed take on the earlier Goku.
You know, I really like the few unique pre-battle dialogues that there are.
The rewritten dialogue in the old english dub was much better for Goku. LIke, when Vegeta is first defeated in the original Japanese run, Goku wants Vegeta to live so they can fight again, where in the english dub with Bruce Faulconer music, he wants Vegeta to live because he believes there is potential for him to become a good person. Basing his experience with other allies/former enemies like Tien & Piccolo.
The rewritten dialogue turns him into a stereotypical righteous superhero while the original depicts him as a selfish, fighting crazed maniac. I prefer the original
I had Budokai 1-3, and I appreciated Budokai 2 for doing something different with the story mode other than the same 1:1 retread of the original story we've all read/watched, we already had Budokai 1 for that. Everything else in Budokai 2 was a major improvement over the first anyway.

I played Sagas and loved it. I was 14 at the time. I didn’t know any better. That’s when Dragonball games were pretty few and far between for me. I took what I could get.
