It's true and a basic human experience that family/people ultimately will give you more satisfaction than a career. That's why when men retire their life satisfaction drops dramatically more than women. Women build intricate social nets. The universal human experience of needing family/community and also self actualization through work are both two distinct needs everyone has.

Women who are single are measurably more happy than married women. 12% of people regret having children. So saying regretting children is extremely rare doesn't statistically pan out.
Saying women are happiest married with children also doesn't pan out statistically. That's why there was an epidemic of housewives on benzodiazepines in the 50s - only staying at home with children and not having a life outside of that is very unsatisfying and can lead to mental health issues because everyone is happiest with self actualization. A family and taking care of your family is extremely satisfying for everyone - but you need other things as well.
