You should be able to convert any tube receiver to solid state it done properly. You will have to add a power supply and audio amp. You will probably have to change the speaker since most of the old radios used an electromagnetic coil instead of a permanent magnet. You will have to power a filament type dial light if you want to have the original color showing through otherwise it won't look the same. It can be done. Let me hear about your success when completed. Use my email address shown at the end of the video if you have questions.

I do not do conversions for others. It is too time consuming. Parts cost alone can be over $60.00 and shipping both ways could cost over $120.00. I will sell you a manual. You will need to find a close by tech who is capable of doing the job. If you want the manual please contact me with my email address at the end of the video.

Charles I understand about the shipping both ways and the parts and labor I don't mean to be a nuisance but with $600 Peak your interest into doing this one more time I'm running out of options everybody on Google advertisers antique Radio restoration but when you call them it never pens through can you point me in the right direction if you're completely not interested Respectfully yours Michael brill

Great work Charles. I suppose this could be done on just about any tube type radio if certain rules are followed. Do you have a "Generic" schematic that would cover the All American Five?

You are right. I haven't seen a radio I could not convert but each receiver must be handled individually. Right now I am converting a R390A. It works great. When finished I will make a RUclips video.

@@charlessmith833 I certainly look forward to that. Amazing that you can figure out how to use the existing I.F. transformers and tuning capacitors without making some major changes in component values. Do you still have schematics available? If so what models? Thanks
