I lost him last month to Liver Cancer. Watching videos like these to find out more about the things he played and and the things he loved has been helping me cope. I've been playing Diablo 2 and LoD since the start. My first character was a warrior with whirlwind and after 2 years I believe I was level 82 or so... wasn't able to kill Baal in Hell... Amazing to see this is possible within a day. Downloading the client as we speak... time to get those whirlwind skills back up and running :-) Thanks for the awesome content!
Llama doesn't want to admit it but Barbarian is probably his favorite class because the barb is balanced in a way how the devs originally intended the game to be played. Barbablo 2 is like diablo 2 at its purest. It feels amazing to get good drops because you know they are just soo incredibly useful for barbs. Also llama, I'd recommend doing Berserk barb. They're actually really good especially because it requires you to make use of the less used skills like howl, taunt, concentrate, and leap.
Berserk is the best untwinked because it gives massive attack rating and damage and it synergizes with howl,which allows you to run bosses without issue It's also magic damage

So far I am running with Hsarus boot, Bloodfist gloves, a Gnasher in my off hand, and about 20 MF at the moment, with a "Steel" Battle Axe as my main. Stealth armor, and a class specific helm with +2 to axe master. You're currently a choppy, and I am a slasher. GG!

Death's sash and gloves are probably my second favorite over Sigon's belt, gloves, and boots. Res, faster attack, life leech, magic find, FHR. My approach to D2 is(more like was growing up, I do runewords and such now) pretty archaic and broken though. I grew up ignoring/not knowing about rune word. I would farm Meph for drops like the 3 pieces of Sigon's. Death's is probably better though because of the cannot be frozen. Too bad you can't upgrade set items to elite/exceptional items like you can do with uniques.

lance and polearm barbarian use to rule in diablo2 classic before lod release . he also get ias from belt and glove :) sadly in lod warpike never have the speed for the ww break point :(
I'm very new to diablo 2, and part of me wants to still try a polearm ww barb just for the hell of it. I know it's not as effective as a dual wield barb because of the runewords, but the two handed weapons look so cool.
@@ZeriocTheTank you have few good option to have the ww break point , use a ethereal Great Poleaxe this weapon have Melee Range of 4 with 6 socket mean you have np to Breath of the Dying or for spear a ethereal Ghost Spear , i`m not a big fan of the Ghost Spear becaus the min damage , for patch 1,14 you only need 50% dr compare 1.09 is 75% , find a 15% dr String of Ears and a good 20% dr Vampire Gaze with Fortitude armure ,Gore Rider boot Highlord's Wrath 1 or 2 Raven Frost or a cheaper option Angelic good luck this will be my barb build for d2re :) oh i forgot this is for me i will put a ber rune inside my gaze :) to have a 28 dr gaze for a total of 43 dr is still hurt for pvp or pk but is still better of 35% gl farming peace
The meta back when for whirlwind barb was to put 2 points strength, 2 points vitality, and 1 point dexterity. every level. you just always did 2-1-2 in that sense. not really needing mana early on. and you would level up in no time. then eventually you can switch from strength to mana.
I maxed out combat masteries, leap attack, and double swing and am currently putting points into a thing that gets me more defence, I dont have the expansion pack
@@Toadette- Wow. Does the D2 vanilla have synergies? Even if not I would recommend putting points to Shout for defence and Battle Orders for more life, and 1 point to all Warcries, as they are all useful.

My old ww barb build i maxed out ww, war cry (for phys immunes), axe mastery, iron skin and natural resistances....dual wielding ethereal breath of the dying axes.....cant remember all the armor pieces....was total carnage though. By memory every 15 skill points i did 6 str 6 vit 2 dex 1 energy.......after level 50 was 3 dex and no energy since usually had some charms that added enough to keep ww up

I’ve been watching your play throughs for the past few weeks, decided to make a ww barb in classic (I absolutely adore classic). Struggled so hard 🤣. Ended up getting a gull from normal Andy. 😭. Got 3 pieces of sigons farming memp.. moved onto nm and ended up getting a tarn helm from flayer dungeon. Why can’t I get these magic find items on my classic sorc?! 🤣
Do you have to skip the act 2 cinematic to bug Andy? I always do but I want to watch it for d2r also will this bug and for example the frenzy barb weapon swing bug, trapping your merc behind doors to avoid damage ect be in the remaster? I'm hoping and assuming all bugs will.

2:51:20 I don't want to refute anything you're saying about Broodwar being better or harder than SC2, but if you're playing a SC2 and you're "sitting like welp I don't have anything to do for a bit" then you are ether not playing competitively enough, or not playing a hard enough opponent. There should always be resources to spend or units to micro. Again, not saying anything about the quality of ether game.
I mean I played SC2 for years and competed in Masters for like 12 seasons straight. Obviously I wasn't sitting there like "I have nothing at ALL to do" but I found I could complete all of my tasks efficiently with about 180-200 apm. Whereas in BW my 200 apm has me like "I NEED 200 MORE APM TO EVEN DO HALF THE STUFF I WANT"

Everyone in chat talking about how brood war mechanics are inconvenient don’t get it, the inconvenience is the point. You can streamline golf by picking your ball up and walking it to the hole, or in chess just grab the opponents king and remove it from the board. The game is found in the inconvenience.

at 2:55:30 i feel what your talking about is immersion. Alot of modern features of games that streamline how thing are done unknowingly lose that immersion. WoW original had it, D2 has it. its doing the tedious and the mundane.

Bro, you should give Belzebub mod for Diablo I a try. It' a been a blast for me, gives access to higher resolutions, new classes, shared stashes, autosave and stuff like that.
I recently replayed D2 after like10 years and had no idea about the builds and whatnot...so I went into whirlwind off the bat thinking i will get some sort of damage boost or will need to farm an item to get a boost like in D3. Boy its actually the complete opposite ! U need to spect for a different "temporary" build until you reach hell and get all the gear for WW and respec. damn

Can't you finish the game on hell difficulty only using one of those skills ? I mean you played Barbarian a few times and I can see through all your fake smiles and take it slow advices that playing a melee build sucks big time because the game is crap and has major issues! As you brace yourself in your seat and struggle to hold on to the hand grip, you chance a question: “Where are we going?” “Shut up, - comes the reply. - Talking is for those who have a winning record in Man versus Stream”. You clench your jaw as you find yourself approaching what must be your destination: The Burial Grounds.
You can feel a surge of energy as the vehicle accelerates even more, approaching breakneck speeds. Before you can even begin an incantation, an arrow shot from Flavie’s bow impales the skull of the bone fiend, which disintegrates immediately. The bones crumble to dust, but something solid hits the floor, too. You bend over to investigate and find yourself holding an Archon Staff that is radiating with power. You turn to look back at Flavie... but nobody is there.
You move back outside to see where she went, but there is nothing: no car, no tracks, nothing but the rain and the corpses of Blood Raven and her minions. Yeah berserk is very cool. Whirlwind is cookie cutter aoe slaying, Frenzy is the boss killer and Berserk is the best (super)unique farmer :D

Nice playthrough. Also there is a good cube recipe for savage polearm. Sometimes it can roll into bill or partisan, which very powerful early on.

you can change players in your offline games, no mod needed. And ya a farming video could be good one day!

You can streamline golf by picking your ball up and walking it to the hole, or in chess just grab the opponents king and remove it from the board. The game is found in the inconvenience.
I cannot imagine how long it took to remember runes, maybe because I'm still new to diablo 2 it seems overwhelming to remember them all but dang

I don't think you need to invoke the spirit of Carlin to defend Llama's joke. There's a difference between a joke making fun of a froup of people and a joke about a group of people, and Llama's joke was the latter.
at 2:55:30 i feel what your talking about is immersion. Alot of modern features of games that streamline how thing are done unknowingly lose that immersion. WoW original had it, D2 has it. its doing the tedious and the mundane.
Why there's not a "hacked drops" in the title? Steeldriver in the frenzy run and Knell Striker in the double hand/whirwind run, so close yet so far Llama

Bro, you should give Belzebub mod for Diablo I a try. It' a been a blast for me, gives access to higher resolutions, new classes, shared stashes, autosave and stuff like that.

WW was just so OP back when D2 just came out :)
Sadly it got nerfed repeatedly to the point where in its current state it's pretty bad overall.
I recently replayed D2 after like10 years and had no idea about the builds and whatnot...so I went into whirlwind off the bat thinking i will get some sort of damage boost or will need to farm an item to get a boost like in D3. Boy its actually the complete opposite ! U need to spect for a different "temporary" build until you reach hell and get all the gear for WW and respec. damn
I am still waiting for the Inferno Sorc , Fendazon spearzon , Arctic Blast Druid, Sacrifice paladin , Venge Paladin, Martial Arts Assassin.

@@MrLlamaSC Aren't you the great Llama who claims the game is balanced and that skills are ok and there is little things to improve? Can't you finish the game on hell difficulty only using one of those skills ? I mean you played Barbarian a few times and I can see through all your fake smiles and take it slow advices that playing a melee build sucks big time because the game is crap and has major issues! I need to ask MR Camel to play those builds since apparently you are too scared to play them and prove that the game has nothing to do with balance and too many of the skills are absolutely bad.
