It's more pleasing to listen to the stories than search for the gold
You'll never find the 🪙 gold 🪙 anyway, unless the injuns let you. Or unexpectedly you stumble upon that elusive yellow substance 🟡.
You gentlemen are great story tellers and do a great justice to the history of our beautiful and interesting state!!!
What people have overlooked is the fact that Waltz left the mine one morning, and went to the Board House (a ranch) and purchased bacon and baking flour AND returned to the mine in the same afternoon before sunset. This tells a story about distance and what is logically possible in a day.
There's no evidence of any of it
Great way to start my Sunday...hot coffee, and new and fascinating episode of Mysteries of the Superstition Mountains! Thanks, guys!
Glad you enjoyed it
Hello again from Tennessee. You guys are great story tellers and I am always so glad to see a new story pop up. Keep up the good work and God bless y'all.
Thanks so much
...Thank you guys...!!! The longer stories are a blessing.
Glad you like them!
Larry, Hank thanks. At -43 with windchill of -51 here this morning,, a great break from the cold. Made it to goldfield last feb. Needed more time there for sure.
The board house is on a logical route, topographically speaking, to get to the Iron Mountain area from Apache Junction.
Bob Ward's cabin is on that route as well, not that it existed when the Dutchman was alive, I'm just mentioning it as a reference.
But man, it is a LONG walk, at least 25 miles, from Apache Trail and Idaho Rd. to the ridge west of Iron Mountain. The last of it is steep climbing.
Great to see you guys.
You are most welcome
Another great story guys! Thank you, I could listen to you guys all day! Hope all is well. Take care now, Frank from Philadelphia, PA.
Our pleasure!
The Superstitions are.....rugged, majestic, scary, inviting all at the same time.
Glad to see another video, was getting worried about y’all, it’s been awhile
Hank - Thanks for Straighting this All Out
Love the story, poor old mr.Ruth, never had a chance. I think someone found the gold many years ago. But then?
Another great video and so proud of you all keeping the great videos coming! Is Clay Worst still with us or has gone riding upon the golden horse trails with Charlie?
Charlie is missed a whole lot and we all know he's smiling down from Heaven and tell you guys, "Great job my co-workers" and watching over all of us!

Have your job lined up, it’s hard to get a *decent* one some times, but Arizona is STUNNING. I moved to Az from upstate! 🤣✌🏼❄️
Where this is filled is kind of outside of town- but it’s an easy drive out from anywhere on the eastern side of the phx metro area! (It’s easy from the west side too but FAR, talking an hour+ on the freeway no traffic) 💕

You totally can. We have all 4 seasons in AZ or you can take your pick. You dont have to live in Phoenix. 2 hours north is heaven. There is so much history here that you will keep liking it more. 17 years in AZ. Wont move, not even for beach front.
very interesting. After listening to Clay Worst video form several years ago at the museum. My thought was. The search has to start on that side of the Mountain, and the board house was the starting point. And the Dutchman had said he went from the Mine to the board house for food and back to the mine in 1 day.. So the mine would have to be within a half a days travel through what I assume was very slow going through those mountain paths or lack of paths to a secret mine. I did not realize that the quarter Circle U ranch and the board house were not the same place. But it is pretty close and still probably a great place to start. The Dutchman also was to have said that the manner that he filled it in and covered it, that you could drive a patch train across it and never know it was there. So no one will ever find that. If Jacob Walsh was alive today. my guess is he would have trouble finding it . Anyway. Love the video.
1 day travel then is not the same for us today when thinking about it.. It could have been 10 15 miles with a horse.
Most likely if the mine is real then it's lot closer then many think yet according to the story which Brownie Homes says his father told him that the Dutchman back filled the mine in so there was no way to even discover it. My thoughts are if the mine was like the other Spanish mines where there is a pit then some kind of entrance I would think they used hand tools to dig it not dynamite it would be easy to fill in the entrance. The only way to find the gold mine would be to try and rediscover the gold in the area same way it was found by the spanish. It's almost impossible now that the land is off limits to any kind of mining. I also wonder if it was found what could you do with it have to be made into some kind of historic site park service would need to cut a path to get there then guarded to keep people from stealing it. If it's ever really found it would be lot of trouble managing it better off never being found.
I love listening to these old timers preserving the rich history of the Superstition Mountains. I grew up in the Phoenix area reading books about the Lost Dutchman and now I live near the foothills of these beautiful, majestic mountains, Every day I am in awe when I open the shades in the mourning to see the sun rising over the Superstition Mountains. The view is never old. There is an energy here. Peaceful and quiet. Close to nature. If you want to get closer to God, get closer to nature. . Would love to hear the Dutchman historians opinion regarding THE HOLMES MANUSCRIPTS.
Jealous!!
I know where there's a stone house that says lost Dutchman mining company

Absolutely Great!!
I love this channel. I really think the mine is on the east side of the mountain but I think the dutchman mine is buried or has been found

..Love the story telling of the S.S.M. and the Lost Dutchman's Mine ... got caught up in it all half a lifetime ago ,but couldn't spend the time there to make many pieces of the puzzle fit .. Sure would liked to hear of someone put it together and make the claim before the state and federal government stick their noses in and ruin the dream like everywhere else.. Always waiting for another chapter of yesteryear....
Love listening to y'alls stories. Always looking forward to the next one. I binge watched all your videos on superstition mts. Took me about a month. Very interesting. History is interesting.
What are some of your favorite clues
Glad you enjoyed it
Well told, Bravo!
Well done. Again.

Thanks for watching!
Been awhile love the show
Excellent video and story ! One question you went into great detail about this board house, but what i don`t understand is what was the ( Clue ) ? The Dutchman started out from the board house going to his mine. In my opinion that not much of a clue , i was expecting something a little more pacific.
@Hank Sheffer What are you talking about ? Sound like double talk to me . The jumping off point for what ? I thought it was a clue to the lost Dutchman gold mine, but all he talk about was these two houses.
Do you know where the board house was? And was that a marker for Jacob's starting point? Again thanks for an awesome story.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Love these stories, and no i wouldnt want the cattle near my house either...💩😕
Cows are nice
Is there only one possible board house? I have in other videos seen foundations but not rubble from tumbled down walls.
Gold 🪙 in "them thar hills" but the injuns ain't gonna let you find it.
I think that Walsh being shrewd, befriended Indians who had the gold ore and made up the story about the mine, to keep people from going after his Indian friends. He made a deal with those Indians thru trading or whatever means & because he "kept his word" by not revealing where he obtained the gold, he continued in their good favor, and in making trips with his "prize". Their lack of knowledge regarding extracting gold from ore, could have made this possible.🤔‼️
Way to throw out a theory all while providing no evidence.
Wish i was 30 years younger . Still gonna stop out for a hike .
What if George was just blowing smoke? Correct me if I'm wrong...They never have found anything mineral wise in the surperstitions that matches the lighter or anything close to it.
@Hank Sheffer appreciate the stories and effort y'all do to make these. It makes me appreciate my home state of Nevada more and has made me more interested in its history. Best of health
Loving it
So without people knowing about that boardhouse, that could be the reason it is still where it is ? You know someday, when we are long gone, they will probably invent some tool that can find buried treasure, sort of like a pre-natal ultrasound, where it definately shows papers, bags, coins, bills of money
The Theodore Roosevelt Lake did not exist when the Dutchman was alive? So the mine can be in the lake? Has anyone searched for the mine in the lake?
Thank you
You're welcome
so the board house was tore down, but circle u and cavanna ranch are the same
Matt Rowe
The board house was built long before the U ranch ever existed.
The U ranch purchased the land and large grazing rights in 1907.
Today the latest owner of the U ranch only own 57 acres still 3/4 of a mile from the spot where the board house was located. I am not sure if the U ranch has grazing rights or if it’s under a land trust that now exist in that area. But from 1907 the board house was on land controlled by the U ranch and the road to the U ranch goes right by the old location of the board house to this day.
@@larryhedrick254 ive been to the rendezvous a couple times with the other dutch hunters, still see Gwen in the walmart here in AJ once in a while, but he doesnt remember me, and talked to the owner of the goldfield a few times, i was interested in it but i gave up after a couple years.
That mine was found years ago by Ron Feldman and Ronald Forrest
This was that HEAT team that dug out an old mine after getting permission in 2004 they never found anything this was with the owner of Goldfield Ghost town. The permit ran out before they were able to find anything.
thanx

What people don't realize in this hunt for the lost Dutchman mine, there are very smart miners, that would have simply followed the geology to the mine. It's pretty simple.
NHRA With 277 square miles of wilderness, starting from the right place couldn’t hurt.
@@larryhedrick254 well that's what I mean. With the general area it's simple to follow the geology. The entire mountain range is mapped and documented in the usgs reports. It's basic stuff in mining. Even back in the day those guys were incredibly smart. If you sample some of the stuff they left, you see why they left it. I can almost guarantee people have worked it.
NHRA gold: In1891 after Waltz died and that’s when we were talking about, the only landmarks named was Weavers Needle and Superstition Mountain proper. No other of the hundreds of mountains or canyons had a name. The maps you mentioned and geology was non existent. Waltz could not tell anyone to take East boulder canyon to Blacktop Mesa down La Barge and so on.
The Board House was a critical starting point, as one of the clues, if true, was you could go to the mine and back to the board house in one day. It also was stated, true or not, that no miner will find my mine. Evidently the mine was located where geology was of no value even if one was trained in geology. The story was not about today and the advantages of modern times.
@@larryhedrick254 I'm not arguing that. I'm arguing that the myth that has killed dozens is exactly that, a myth about being "lost" . It was said to be a solid 3 foot gold plug, in basically a xenolith. It was said to be mined out to a great distance. It's also said that the reason people have died looking for it because the people who were working it didn't want anyone knowing. That's basically the "rumors " of the mining community between here ( California) and Arizona.
NHRA gold
I don’t know what of my videos you have seen but I have been exposing many of the myths about the Dutchman and the mine. The newspaper man, Bicknell, created the myth that Waltz went to Mexico to “escape military service.”
Sims Ely expounded upon that 6o some years later to make Waltz a Confederate veteran who saved Paralta in s bar fight and was given a map by Paralta and Waltz’s mythical partner Wisner. All this was BS created by two newspaper men to sell stories and books. In the 55 years I have been knowledgeable about the story, I have never heard about a solid 3 foot gold plug, it was always a 18 inch vein that would make millionaires out of 20 men.
I have Bark’s notes, the Holmes manuscript and Cavaness’ diary among others.
What these things don’t say is as important as what the do say and how the clues have been butchered and maps altered or created is amazing.”
My friend and I know where there's a stone house and I know where there's a Cavanagh rd

When the sun drops the shadow points. Our God's of our land and mountains will protect the gold. No white man will get the gold.
The eternal problem still exist today! You just can't please a woman! Ha!
I think its pretty unprofessional to not have contacted the ranch owners prior to this video. They've had people attempting to illegally enter private property for a video that is historically inaccurate.
