2 Dimensional Delta Robot With 2 Servo Motor | Arduino Delta Robot |Arduino Inverse Kinematics Robot

  • This is a delta robot. but in only 2 dimensions. It consists of two actuators (servo motors). These motors are mounted on a rigid support. There are 4 free moving links. Those are then attached to the motor. The joint between those links is the point that will trace the pattern required.

    The brain of this system is the Atmega328p microcontroller from Atmel. This IC is mounted on Arduino Uno R3 Prototyping Board. Both the motors can move from 0 to 180 degrees. Which is more than enough to operate this robot. Each of the links seen here is 6 cms and so the distance between the motors.
    Let's check its extremities.

    There are two motors, which can be rotated synchronously or asynchronously depending on the mission. When both the rotors are at 90 degrees. then the point achieved is the topmost. When both the rotors are at 45 degrees. then the extreme right point is achieved. When the rotor of the left is at 135 degrees and that of the right is at 45 degrees. then the bottom-most point is achieved. When both the rotors are at 135 degrees. then the extreme left point is achieved. The speeds of these motors can be varied depending on the requirement. This robot has a working area. In that area, it can reach any point. All that is achieved via inverse kinematics. Just provide the coordinates of the point and the angle corresponding to each motor will get calculated. Inverse kinematics is nothing but basic mathematics (trigonometry). It follows the cartesian coordinate system. Now let's trace a square shape with this robot. This robot can draw or trace anything, the only limit is the code. In the follow-up videos, we are going to explore its capabilities.

      Just move the servo motors to the desired angle, use basic trigonometry to calculate the angle.
