I find it ironic how this song plays for just two colossi, Dirge and Phalanx, two colossi that are both similar but very different. They are both serpentine colossi what dwell in sandy regions and they both move at high speed requiring the horse match their speed. However, Dirge lives underground and dwells under the sand while Phalanx lives in an open desert mostly flying in the sky. Dirge is the most aggressive colossus in the game as he's constantly chasing you, rarely giving you a break whereas Phalanx is the most docile colossus in the game, never attacking you no matter what you do.
+Stockroom Rick (Raijun) It wouldn't surprise me. There's a lot of subtle connections in this game. For example, Kuromori, Celosia and Cenobia, being the three smallest colossi in the game, all have the same pair of music tracks. Same goes for Quadratus and Basaran, both have the same music and both are quadrupeds that have very similar battle strategies (shoot their feet). Valus, Gaius and Argus, the three weapon wielding colossi all play the Opened Way in their second phase. Phaedra also plays it but I think this is a mistake. I honestly think they mistakenly swapped Phaedra's and Barba's second phase music. These patterns extend outside of music too, however. Look at Avion and Dirge. The two colossi are pretty much opposites in every way and look at their placements on the map; the distance between them is the furthest distance between any two colossi in the game.
Theory on why some Colossi attack on sight while others don't: For the Colossi that attack on sight; it might have started with Valus. Valus probably was one of the territorial Colossi, like how Bears or Wolves have territories of their own, chasing/killing anything that might seem as a threat. And just why would Valus attack something as puny as the Wanderer? Well, here are some ideas; 1. When shot by an arrow, it might have hurt more than it looks, agitating the Colossi 2. Valus saw the Wanderer wielding the Ancient sword; the only thing that can kill a Colossi, and went into the defensive 3. The Colossi probably know that humans are far more dangerous than they seem, even though very few humans trespass into the Forbidden Lands When Valus got defeated the beam of light shot into the skies, clearly indicating that one of their fellow Colossi has fallen. And even in the beginning the Colossi didn't seem too interested in the Wanderer until he started attacking them, making them realize that this human is most likely the one who has killed their fellow Colossi. This is probably why the Colossi got more and more willing to kill the Wanderer. But what about the ones that had no view of the skies; such as Dirge? Only one answer. They're aggressive as f***. And what about the ones that did not attack at all (unless attacked themselves), such as Phalanx or Avion? Avion most likely didn't want to fight because it probably already knew that the human in its lake is the one who killed its fellow Colossi, but it was safe on the large pillar. It only attacked when the Wanderer shot it with an arrow. As for Phalanx, it had to hopes of fighting back, most likely why it didn't attack whatever the Wanderer did. (This is actually the one that makes me really sad) But what is really saddening is Malus (the very last Colossi). It had a clear view of the skies. It saw how one after the other the beams of light shot into the sky. It knew that all its fellow Colossi have fallen. It knew that its the last standing one. And that's why Malus was so hard to kill; because it wanted to avenge the deaths of the other Colossi.
The colossi are the results of a spell used to split dorimins body into pieces by emon, each being one of the 16 parts, its unlikely they have any connection with each other because they literally do not have a mind, they are just a body trapped inside a body, they all possess traits of dorimin and each acts through that trait, some are obvious, anger, power, curiosity, tenacity, and other things, others…not so much. thats at least, what i think.

Valus, the First Colossus. The way he introduces the game with his impending size and entrance. Battling him was fun also because you were already learning how to climb in the short intro section, so now it is time to put it to test already in a epic boss fight. Needless to say, my favorite part of the game is the music, and boy did the game hit you hard with each Colossi with their music! :)

It's that little tapping on the cymbal in the background to conjure up the image of sand that really makes this for me. The thought that went into the soundtrack is really, really impressive.
Of course Phalanx was a big freaking collossus, but I felt bad for it a little. It was just flying around in a desert minding it's own stuff. It didn't seem like trouble to me aside from maybe it's intimidating size. Also I'm dang amazed that TFS used this overly epic music for an overly epic attack scene. A mere human, defying an immense monster. Really fitting.
In my opinion it should have attacked you at the temple when you woke up, with Dormin just giving you a few minutes advance in warning, and it just flies around not just in it's enclosure, but all over the map. It should have been given a ranged attack like we see in a few other Colossi, like maybe an inflatable organ on it's head that shoots spikes.
Jacob Skibo, did you see the rings that were buried in the sand? those rings are there to keep this colossi from escaping that area. There's this really cool RUclips channel called nomad colossus that explains the map in which you fight this colossus.
Honestly, this is a pretty good sound track. It is quite suitable for an intense action scene in a game or in a film. Anyway, that being said, here goes. (Breathes deeply.) .....SHIN!!! KIKOOOHOOOOH!!!.....(Seriously, this is a cool soundtrack.)
Guess what bitch, I do both, but just looking for a good song brought me here, and when I recognized the song when TFS did this I almost teared up from the sheer badassness of it!
Cabalgar a caballo e ir más rápido que nunca y a la vez saltar a una de las aletas del colosso, es sin duda lo más épico y este ost lo hace sentir legendario (^_-)
Well, to be honest, they kind of HAVE to "fuck it up", because what would be the point of just telling the exact same story from a game into a movie? They do that, they'd still get complaints about how "they just made a copy and paste movie" or "they didn't add anything new". If they DO make a movie, i HOPE they change up the story, maybe make it into the 21st century time. At least then it'd be interesting and not just the same exact story twice.
Sean Knapp I think you're kinda missing the point of an "adaptation", dude. When was the last time you saw someone complaining about the Harry Potter movies being too similar to the books, or saying "yeah, Dragonball Evolution was awesome! Especially because it was completely different from the anime!" The whole point of an adaptation is to take a popular and well-received story from a certain medium and translate that story into another medium, in order to reach a wider demographic, while still pleasing the fans of the source material, who were the ones that made it into such a big thing to begin with. Changing the setting of the story like that would just serve to piss off anyone who loved the game, and would completely ruin the atmosphere, which is one of the main elements in the experience of SoTC. I think the only adaptation I've ever seen that made major changes to the source material and was still well-received was How To Train Your Dragon, and even then I'm not sure how the fans of the books feel about the movies.
This colossus was the one pictured in many of the first ads for the game, and this gigantic flying thing intrigued me so much that I finally bought the game (I am an old fart by now and not really thatt much into video games)
Phalanx battle was soooo epic cause with this ost playing in the background and you trying to climb to phalanx and the BARREL ROLL HE IS DOING THE FIRST TIME YOU DAMAGE HIM....HOLY. THE MOST EPIC BATTLE EVER
My favorite is Valus Why? Because when i first played this game it took me 3 hours to find the first colossus and when i saw it i was so impressed i could never fell the same epicness again :D

Jacob Skibo, did you see the rings that were buried in the sand? those rings are there to keep this colossi from escaping that area. There's this really cool RUclips channel called nomad colossus that explains the map in which you fight this colossus.
If you google Upstart Triclops Bitch this video comes up first
Best 40 dollars spent when the hd came out am i right!
0:00 “Shin... KIKOHO!”
0:55 29:38 my fav parts
videogamedunkey and boris crazy productions know where the best soundtracks are at
Really though Phalanx is the only one that makes you feel bad for killing it. It literally does nothing.
Nothing but flying around chilling in the desert
+Literal Rathalos Plate True Story :,)
Kanru Kidomi Agreed.... Phalanx does nothing to attack you....
And all Avion does is watch you unless you attack him meh
I will forever treasure the original soundtrack of this masterpiece.
I was listening to this before the tfs episode came out, but what the hell
KI KO HOOOO!!!!!
The Japanese name for Tien's Tri-Beam attack.
+Jacob Coleman indeed. Ever seen the DBZ abridged?
Prepare for the flood of dbz abridged fans (not that its a bad thing its a damn good song)
MegaXbones no its a bad thing
MegaXbones no one will enjoye this song more then shadow of the colossus fans

MJ amine Pretty sure a lot of them ARE SotC fans. Including me.
+MegaXbones why would dbz abridged fans be here ?
Dude i just used this ost for a fight in DnD and it was amazing
@@Tyujlo A title I hold proudly
The theme really makes u feel like ur soaring through the sky on a giant sky dragon
orchestrating this would have been the coolest thing ever
Honestly, this is a pretty good sound track. It is quite suitable for an intense action scene in a game or in a film. Anyway, that being said, here goes. (Breathes deeply.) .....SHIN!!!
KIKOOOHOOOOH!!!.....(Seriously, this is a cool soundtrack.)
I love this part of the song! (0:55 - 1:20)
Shadow of the Colossus brought me here.

Honestly... 12:00-19:00 is absolutely amazing.
True
STOP WITH THE COLOSSUS ABUSE WONDER!
the guy who uploaded this must have been like ''why the fuck are all these people watching this all of a sudden....and wtf...wtf is ki ko ho??''
Cabalgar a caballo e ir más rápido que nunca y a la vez saltar a una de las aletas del colosso, es sin duda lo más épico y este ost lo hace sentir legendario (^_-)
the most majestic colossus
Did anyone not notice that phalanx has three eyes, two on the left, and one on the right.
+Joanne Arnold NO!
Joanne Arnold as a matter a fact i did not know that
And i beat the game about 12 times and starting a new one today
escalar o colossu ouvindo essa musica pqp arrepia a alma.
This boss was so epic the music makes it even more thrilling to kill bosses like this
This would make an epic movie. Buuuut they'd prolly f*ck it up. =\
Nice to see a fellow Dark Souls fan enjoy Shadow of the Colossus.
That it is.
NightBot Ban i agree
Especially because it was completely different from the anime!"
The whole point of an adaptation is to take a popular and well-received story from a certain medium and translate that story into another medium, in order to reach a wider demographic, while still pleasing the fans of the source material, who were the ones that made it into such a big thing to begin with.
Phalanx is literally the biggest colossus in the game and yet is the most docile.
It's a Gentle Giant~
SHIIIIN KIKOHO!!!!!
(I'm referencing the recent DBZA video for those who don't watch it)
BULLSHIT
This colossus was the one pictured in many of the first ads for the game, and this gigantic flying thing intrigued me so much that I finally bought the game (I am an old fart by now and not really thatt much into video games)
The only colossus that won’t attack you.
My favorite game ever made
Cara que música foda. Apesar de muitas pessoas aqui comentarem que este colosso não faz absolutamente nada, ainda sim, achei a luta fascinante!!!
KIKOHOOOOO!!!!!!
*SHIN KIKOHOOOOOOO!*
Phalanx battle was soooo epic cause with this ost playing in the background and you trying to climb to phalanx and the BARREL ROLL HE IS DOING THE FIRST TIME YOU DAMAGE HIM....HOLY. THE MOST EPIC BATTLE EVER
❤️❤️
Who else if here because of SOFC (Shadow Of The Colossus) and not DBZ (Dragon Ball Z) Abridge?
Me, THE FUCKING SONG IS RUINED NOW
ChingBlingtheKing
Yes, the comment section is cancer thanks to the DBZ Abridge fans.
Daniel Park
Guess what? No one cares about you. Now shut the fuck up you bitch. :)
Sword Knight now I know you wrote that 4 years ago, and you could very well be a completely different person now, but past you was a bitch
My favorite is Valus
Why?
Because when i first played this game it took me 3 hours to find the first colossus and when i saw it i was so impressed
i could never fell the same epicness again :D
AGRO!!!!
This is E3 demo Phalanx, we had a photo of E3 demo way before it was discovered...
We fucking get it TeamFourStar brought u here
Yep, you're missing the track A Despair Filled Farewell; The one that plays during the bird colossus fight
KI....KO....HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Stop it! STOP IT!!!! A N G R Y !!!!
Phalanx isn't a fight.
*_Its an experience_*
Aaaahhh Phalanx, my favorite colossus that has my favorite song from the entire game.
Esse jogo e as músicas são completamente EPICOS!
phalanx is a beautiful colossi! perfect song for this battle!
There are more comments complaining about dbz fans than there are about dbz
But you are used to fights over nonsense like this aren't you mister fellow dark souls fan
the best moments in my life: go to a symphony of Shadow Of The Colossus sound tracks
*Quietly shelters in the house in the middle of the fandom war occurring in the comment section*
It's okay... Shh. Shh. It'll all be over soon. This song was not their to begin with, we shall have it back, one day.
Im fine, I just take great enjoyment out of watching a variety of short tempered fans duke it out from the safety of a bunker.
No bunker is that safe, my boy. Besides, they're firing nukes filled with their ships now.
Its still enjoyable to watch. Even more so if I am part of both fandoms.
***** Good point.
This sound track reminds you have to do it you've started it now finish it as its the only way there is no such things as failure as its an absolute......a must..... a necessity!
Phalanx reminds me of like a steampunk train almost :P
ikr? thats one of the things I mentioned after I played this part. I told my brother it reminded me of hijacking a train in the american old west lol
Violin seller: can you even play violin?
Me: ... shut up and take my money
We have to admit it, this is the best game from fumito ueda, better than ICO and The Last Guardian, that is the reason for this is remastered in ps4 and ICO is not.
Scenario
>You are on a cliff
>you set your bag down
>you get your lunch and start eating
>as you're getting up you slip to the edge
>a piece if the edge breaks loose
>you fall but you hang on to a tree branch then your survival knife falls but you catch it
>you see a huge beast and you have the urge to climb to its head and kill it
Music cues
You go on from there ki ko ho not allowed
Ki Ko Hoooooo!!!!!
The comment section makes me glad I'm not a huge DBZ fan anymore
Same...
QuickStrike0065 It because of the dbz abridged series. they played this song in a scene and now every fan of them are quoting it here. how about coming here to listen this by knowing and playing the game and not cause it played in abridged.
QuickStrike0065 I am still glad that the ASOT fanbase have not come to ruin another title of this great game
QuickStrike0065 True
Are your a**** so salty that accepting another fandom into your sacred SOTC circle is beneath you? Geez, just let people live and do the same ffs
This is my favorite Soundtrack of the Game!!!
I miss when people took this amazing peace seriously, instead of randomly screaming KIKO HO! -_-
Agreed....

+AfroLord Thank you for saving me from all the cancer.
Thank you for your warning, but it was too late for me. The cancerous comments were already in my brain before I read yours.
