Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

I like how none of them used the Smart Cannon which is possibly the best weapon to use for low speed but highly maneuverable craft like this, since it has the widest lock-on arc which is useful if an enemy is a bit lower or higher than you
I think they agree to not use those because that’d make the battle less interesting
I haven't tested it out, but I think the rockets have an equal lock, it's just that the projectiles are slower.
Oddly enough I think the smaller guns would really shine here, better tracking than the miniguns, a smaller burst yes, but it's not like the miniguns were getting their full potential used

Not to mention that the smaller turrets seem to deal more damage per shot than the minigun, based on my own observation

That’s what I’m saying! The miniguns are very bad I feel I like except antiair turrets but even then small guns are pretty good
@@BableBeatsQuality I've played around with them a fair bit and miniguns do seem better for their damage per second and their burst duration.
But that smaller tracking window makes those advantages harder to use, especially with lots of maneuvers or where recoil is a bigger deal.
Miniguns seems best suited for slower paced situations, where you can actually empty a full burst into something, or for really fast paced strafing runs and boom-and-zoom tactics (where you're only going to be able to shoot for a short time so the highest fire rate is the best option).
Their recoil seemed to be the biggest problem here, where using them would just break the target lock.
It was an absolute blast watching this from the Dev’s stream
Was a bit skeptical when the Dev said it was going to be a 2 vs 2 airship battle and allowing the use of missiles
But I was surprised at how much these airships can take before dropping down, especially Scrapman’s even after relentless missile volleys
Can’t wait to watch more of these streams and videos
I think their missiles are accurate cause their vehicles aren't rocking left and right or back and forth. Which is what I noticed scrapman's airship doing a LOT.
Yeah lol all the was going through me head was that hey scrap man your missiles are probably missing cause you airships rocking like a bobble head. I think in general he doesn't see the potential of rockets due to his unstable builds lol.
Also because he's shooting at the airship explicitly designed to screw with the rocket's autoaim.
Tbf, his rockets were missing in the campaign, in his jet, flying straight at the stationary aa turrets, so they arent the most accurate even on stable builds all the time lol
this is reinforced by the fact that when he lost all propulsion except lift and steadied out his missiles got significantly more accurate
I’d love a bomber stopping challenge, so use the b27 custom creation and have 3 people in fighters defend a factory against one big, slow but extremely tough bomber.

These devs seem like such cool down-to-earth people, it's always very telling when developers actually like playing (and are good at!) their own games. The new expansion is a lot of fun and worth the money, glad to support these guys.
They also helped scrapman out when he got hacked and lost everything if I remember correctly, they were the only ones to actually help him out.
I love how involved the developers are in the community

I would love to see a remastered version of aerial themed multiplayer videos like helicopter battles and bomber planes and drone battles. Looking forward to the videos to come!
They should really add a setting to the balloons that makes them go up less the higher you already are. It's actually the reverse IRL, but it would make these kinds of fights more interesting and less bobbing up and down
Nice! Great air battles in that series! Idea for another round: Air battle with improvised weapons only. No parts with gun, cannon, missile, bomb in the name, but you can come up with any explosives throwing or dropping device you like. No power core limit on improvised weapons, some limit on engines.

That was fun. 2 - 3man crews on the bigger ships would be a goodone.
So auto lock leads shots a bit right? Could you make a jammer using a rapidly spinning or shifting center of mass? If so, would the benefits outweigh the reduced maneuverability and uncontrollability? I wanna test it but I'm kinda lazy to rnd so I dunno if I'll try it ever
Edit: I tried it and have a wip but I then remembered I don't have friends and I haven't done the airborne dlc yet so I can't test it in the sandbox there yet either
Autolock tries to triangulate your speed and the target speed to hit at the center of mass, scrapman has the problem that his "center of mass" is a very big target and he is moving in pretty straight lines (vector wise), thats why he gets hit so often
@@verrueckteriwan yep I got that, and if my theory is correct it will confuse locks by constantly and slightly altering the center of mass point and speed/direction of the creation. As long as it's still relatively controllable that is. We'll see though I started working through the airborne dlc so I can test it on enemies. I'm hoping they have a similar targeting algorithm
The anti-missle system is a bit OP considering the devs knew that the missiles target center of mass, and didn't tell the players, but it still looked fun.
Now this is COOL. I swear the dev prob have grudges against Scrappy and Yzuei
What if you do a 2v2 hovercraft battle?
Hovercrafts are quite interesting vehicles as they go on ground but control a lot like an Airship (And the dynamic of going on water with enough speed could be quite good for a fight)
Or engineering the hovercraft to hover without needing to move as fast, making going on the water a serious advantage.

I like how they almost managed to figure out the tactic for the skeleton airship, which was aiming at the front or back instead of the sides. Also, scrapman's airship could've used a roll dampener or stabilizer but it did make it really interesting
Imagine a servo that tracks people like guns would so that you could build AA turrets!

Scrap man's ship lookin' like a weeble wobble and he wonders why his shots are missing... The devs vehicles aren't swaying like crazy that's how their missiles are so accurate.
9:01 i found it cool that although the rocket missed it still hit a falling piece of rubble dead on but he either didn’t notice or didn’t mention it

9:02 Yes, becouse missles and guns track straight and stable trajectory. All you have to do is change your speed or direction and you will dodge all the missles if you are fast enough.

These are so fun, I am just concerned that I am getting more critical of the competitiveness of their vehicles than they are.
Thanks dev for showing the cheese with the aim system.
But if you wish to "fix" it because I feel it'll become a source of toxicity you could just save in the creation the closest block to the center of mass position as the target point for the creation.
This can be done exiting build mode and can be a fixed point, but even needing to update it if the block is destroyed should not cost a lot.
i actually tuned into this stream on Credo's side. He accidentally saved his ship as the "HinderBurger"
Scrapman: how are your missles so accurate!
O-o really, think about it, how does the targeting system work, why can it hit moving targets, oh yeah that’s right it anticipates where the target is going, if your going to be moving at the same speed in the same direction you need to expect your going to be hit
Finally scrapman's creation that didn't stuck on red and black color,because sometimes it's too dark,you can't really see the details on the creation.

I like how in first round scrapmn got nearly 0 hits as intact while nailed every single as soon as he got immobile

I think they should make the missiles slightly homing, like the missiles only turn a bit to assist the aim.

Scrapman's ship was basically a dive bomber.
You guys should do boats next but canons only u can do boat race or boat war. Motorcycle would also be cool.

How about the same idea, but only two ships instead of four, and one person is a crewman on the ship aiming the guns like in the cargo vs fighter planes videos.

An evolution fighter jet battle for Multiplayer Monday could be fun! Might take a while though...
The reason the missiles miss is because the auto aim doesn't adjust for the speed your moving, that's why when they where staying still they could hit you.
Scrapmans ship feels less like a ship and more like a bomber plan that goes up and down really quickly. And still a magnet for rockets

You should've programmed your port and starboard weapons on different binds so that you don't shoot both sides at the same time.
These fights need new rules: no glitch mechanics, and no mechanics cheesing

The devs cheesed that challenge they made their airshio as small as possible to the point that they dont even look like airships. Might aswell strap a balloon on a pipe piece
another idea is turret vs planes, like people build turrets for the ground then the other team builds planes to attack that turret, no rocket launchers or miniguns allowed for the planes, bomb bays only. Then you alternate turns on who does turrets and who does planes.
Idea of these kind of challenge if these kind of challenge happens again: make the vehicle as small as possible and make it base on agility so u can use your superior skills to win

Could you do a cargo plane 2v2 kind of battle, like you did with the battleships once? Every person makes their own cargo plane, and the teams do one match with each one, and then the final round is whichever one the team prefers.

*Never played trail makers* but wouldn’t the beachball gun work well to attract smart guns? Don’t have to worry about losing weight that way.
Tbh the dev using knowledge that the missiles track the center of mass and designing around that feels a bit like cheating
For my vtol idea could you have 12 machine guns and 6 rocket launcher s that can be seen the add flaps under both front wings that can be opened and add 10 machine guns on each side that can be revealed and in another pair of flaps under the back wing with 5 rocket launchers on each flaps thx
