@@codyc5787 the mods support through steam with this game is incredible
@@codyc5787 For the best vanilla experience, get the steam version. Way less crashy than most modded versions, a lot more stuff to do than actual vanilla and more lore friendly cars. While workshop support is a thing, most mods don't support the steam version.
If you want an already modded game, check out vstanced. Under their downloads section they have a bunch of already modded versions with cars ripped from Forza. And the additional mod selection there is way bigger than steam.
The disadvantage with this option is the lack of stability. The game will crash. A lot.

To the veterans of the game: Why shouldn't you get the steam version?
i myself am not entirely sure of every reason to why the non-steam version is preferable
I've just seen a lot of people give the steam version a lot of shit and get really pissy at people who use it for some reason, i've always used the Steam version and the only issues ive experienced are those that are shared with the non-steam copy too (aka, frequent crashing just because old game)
It crashes a LOT. And since this game has huge mod support its better to get a modded/mod ready version.
kickerBLDS that is true, pre-modded versions often change a lot about the game and a lot of people highly prefer to use them just in hopes of a better general game experience than the vanilla game, often with licensed cars replacing the normal cars
@@Shinyodd Well if you want a great vanilla version i recommend SLRR 2.3.0 LE. Its really fun and pretty stable. But does have only the city and a test track.

1:06 you forgot about my summer car, a game that came out in 2016 and is still being updated. I'd love to see you play it. lol
I feel like I am necro posting on an old thread, but this short video was a real trip down memory lane. I felt I had to add my experience of this game. The version I had didn't have any of the demo derby or track features. The only thing it had was the race of champions and the club street racing. I got a copy from a friend as it was back in those days and played for hours on end, each in game day I went to the secondhand dealer to check for new cars until I eventually got my Baiern Coupesport GTIII which was supposed to be some or other limited edition variant of that car, painted in gold. It took months of grinding, tuning, working around bugs and poor collision physics, getting spares and preparation for the Race of Champions before I would be frustrated and stop playing. Some 2 years later I found the same game on my old hard drive with the save file with my GTIII still waiting for me and I booted it up for a laugh. I then decided that I was going to make that annoying piece of shit Race of Champions track my bitch and beat the game. It took another few weeks of trying over and over and over again with the most frustrating and annoying game I had ever played. More tweaking to the car and trying different shock and spring setups to improve the handling on the car to work around the shitty physics (different suspension parts from different makes of cars actually changed the whole dynamic of the car for better or worse). I spent hours building many many spare engines, driving with eventually a bare shell and all the nitro it could hold before I eventually kicked its ass and won the prize car. To this day seeing that crappy GT500 Eleanor clone in my garage afterwards is the best feeling I have ever felt gaming. Eventually I think that prize car changed into something else, I'm not sure. I stopped playing and lost the game a while after.
I felt that I had really accomplished something. Had the developers had the money that EA or Bethesda spend on a game now, this would easily have been one of the best car games ever made in my opinion. It was frustrating as all hell but the fact you could kit-bash and come up with a car that really was your own made it endlessly re-playable.
This game broke my heart. It had potential and it just kept crashing and eventually I could not install it. Whyyyyy
There are mods in Steam (for Steam version of course) to reduce crashes, falling through the ground and even improve stability during rendering.
And of course just in case switch off that Auto Save option and save manually (it somehow placed in "Extras", rather in normal "Options")
This game would be legitimately good if it were to get a 2019 remake
There was a thing called Super Street: The Game but it was buchered xD, however there seems to be an interesting gem by the name Drift19 in steam which gives me hope
@@codemy666 that would be nice

HOLY SHIT!! I used to love and mod the hell out of this game, this looks like an updated version, the original release didn't have that many features, it didn't have those extra tracks, it wasn't as polished looking, it was worse if you can imagine that lol, but it wasnt as buggy as this one looks, and there was a whole community dedicated to making an official update, maybe they re-released it with the community updates? I used to model my own 3d parts and add them to the game, I completed the engine bays so that they have all the parts in there. Wish I still had access to my old youtube channel, I had some private street legal videos on there that I never made public. Thank you for bringing this back up! Im getting all nostalgic now hahaha. If I can find my CD, I think I might go and reinstall it and see if it even runs in windows 10. I just bought NFS Heat and its reminds me so much of SLRR, then this video pops up i my feed. I don’t use the steam version of SLRR but my guess is that the modders added it into the game because i’ve never seen that track in the game. (The steam version was released by a team of big SLRR modders to bring the game back). So the answer to your question is, probably not.

Got this game in 2003 when I was 16. Couldn't tell you how many cylinders an engine had back then. Learned the basics of engines from this game and now 20 years later I work on engines for a living and have worked on them for over half of that time, and I blame SLRR for that.

The windows experience
They straight up ripped that derby map from Flatout 1. At 5:35 you can even see the flatout name.
I believe that is part of one of the mods I have and not vanilla
Wrench is the closest game I can think of. It has photo scanned engines with 4K textures, all of the bolts, parts, and bits can be picked up and chucked around the shop (they have physics). After a while of repairing other people's race cars you can "race" your car (Stare at a map and wait for it to come back to the pit so you can fix it). I think its really neat, tiny developer team but they're adding stuff steadily. Even has Ray Tracing and VR!
