Why Do Indian Women Apply Sindoor/Kumkum [Tilak] On The ForeHead?
If you observe, there is on the forehead, between the eyebrows, a spot that is considered a major nerve point in the human body. It was revealed to sages during ancient times that this point between the eyebrows is linked to a very subtle energy point in the brain called the ajna chakra, also known as the intuition centre.
Scientific experiments have inferred that this point is associated with the pineal & the pituitary glands, which control various functions of the body.
The kumkum, or tilak, when applied on the forehead is believed to open the channel of intuition and prevent loss of "energy" required for the essential functioning of the body. Also, it is believed to enhance focus at various levels of concentration, besides facilitating blood supply to the face muscles.
